  1. I don't activate it when I play as far as I know it does it by itself and shouldn't really need you to "activate" it. Also try launching the game though Steam... assuming it is a legal version, if not you won't get it to work at all.
  2. You could back up your Data folder (The folder not the Data folder contents) just copy and paste it to your desktop or another secure place that won't go away when you uninstall everything. You will also have to uninstall and re-install Steam as well. Once you have re-installed everything just copy your data folder back to Steam > Steamapps > Common > Fallout New Vegas. You might have to re-install Fallout mod manager or it will just crash on start-up. It did for me anyway. This also goes without saying, re-install NVSE. As for what NVSE does exactly, I really couldn't tell you, all I know it has been a nightmare to get working.
  3. Also I notice this when I edit mods in the GECK and assuming you are using Windows 7 (same thing for vista, maybe, but I don't know) Make sure you are viewing the DATA folder (or where ever you saved the mod to) in compatibility mode. There should be a button at the top of Windows Explorer and you can switch between compatibility mode and normal mode of the file in question. You might have to change the file extension from .TES to .ESP
  4. Just a little update. I un-installed then re-installed New Vegas and NVSE and still nothing. Ran a Virus scan picked up and deleted 35 viruses (I know I don't do virus scans enough) and currently have no mods installed but I did back them up. So yeah I'm kind of desperate. Also does it have to be a digital download not one from the disc? Edit: I fixed it :D I un-installed New Vegas and re-installed it in My Documents and now NVSE works like a charm :D!
  5. Steam should automatically update your game. I don't want to jump to conclusions but it sounds like your game is pirated. Also if it is pirated then you can't use NVSE anyway because you need steam for it to work. And updating your game won't do anything major so I don't see the problem and to the best of my knowledge FoNV is currently at 1.2.0.314, I think it has been at that version since mid Dec. so most mods (if they required it) have been updated for compatibility and most mods don't really rely on the current patches. Some do if they require NVSE but that is about it and usually you have to update NVSE not the mod.
  6. I re-installed NVSE and still nothing scanned for malware, nothing so I don't know whats up.
  7. Um... none. But I set my UAC to "always notify" and tried running NVSE again and NVSE wasn't working still.
  8. Hello everybody I just can't seem to get NVSE to work. I have everything installed in the right place Program Files (x86) > Steam > Steam Apps > Common > Fallout New Vegas. I have Steam Community In-Game Enabled ticked to on unless the check mark means it is off but I doubt that is the case. I tried launching the game though steam, from the desktop, and FOMM and nothing seems to work. I have goggled around to find an answer, no dice. I'm currently at Version 1.2.0.314 and using NVSE 1 beta 6 which it is compatible with unless I read nvse.silverlock.org wrong and I have to wait for 1 beta 7. I just got Mo Beta and I really want to set hotkeys I mean the SCAR-L in that mod is just so sexy. Oh and Real Time Settler but I'm not a big fan of it but my brother is. P.S: it is a legit copy so I don't wanna so I don't wanna hear "It should work if it is a legit copy so yours must be pirated." Since that seems to make up a portion of answers to this type of question.
