  1. Hai Guyz,

Over the past few years there have been a lot of expensive headsets coming out. A lot of gaming mice too now that I think about it. What would be the difference between say, one that is $170 and one that is $120? When I look at the boxes, they are generally covered in buzzwords(E.G. 7.1 HD surround sound, noise canceling), and sometimes give overly complex technical info(Such as decibel output and frequency range). When buying something like a hard drive, I can at least look up hard info such as read/write speed in addition to storage capacity. Anyway, aside from certain features(Wireless, noise canceling), is there a way to gauge sound quality just by looking at the specs?

  2. The last couple generations of Xbox and PLaystation consoles are essentially PCs, the only real difference is that it is easier to hook them up to your television, and that they don't have keyboards. I personally see no point in buying a console any more, as they usually have all the drawbacks a PC would have. Take the playstation 2 for example:

1.) No having to be connected to the internet, or download updates etc.

2.) No having to "install" the game to your hard drive, or worry about meeting the hardware requirements, or worst yet, random crashes and troubleshooting.

With the PS3, I I had to wait an hour for GTAIV to install onto my hard drive, and many games such as Dark Souls were always being updated. I will be 30 next year, and I am happy with my $1200 Asus laptop I bought back in February 2012. Sure, I have to wait for games like GTA:V to be released on PC, but I am a single male. So it's not like I need a television to share with my wife and kids.

Why would it be dead? PC gaming does not revolve around the Fallout/Elder Scrolls games (and actually The Elder Scrolls Online is a newcomer and it is part of the ES franchise). True, a Fallout series related announcement is now a bit overdue, but there are other titles to enjoy in the meantime.

PC gaming isn't quite dead, but faces stiff competition from Social networking, tablets, and cell phones. I have the same feeling as well sometimes. Steam has tons of games for sale, but very few I would be interested in. I don't remember when was the last time I paid $40+ for a recently released game. Aside from maybe Mass Effect 3 and Splinter Cell back in 2012.

  3. I bought this game for thirty bucks, and I am mildly disappointed. Even though it is no longer classified as "early access", it feels very incomplete. I have yet to have any of my systems hacked, the combat is a tad sluggish, the voice acting pierces my ear drums. The storyline leaves a lot to be desired. Although I do admit that I have pourd 20 hours of my life into this game. However, this feels very much like Freelancer with updated graphics. Also, the graphics are good.

  4. Hai Guyz,

About a month ago, I upgraded from Windows7 to Windows 8.1. The reason I did this was because my laptop got a nasty virus which pretty much kept it from starting up. When I had Windows 7, my wireless connection almost never dropped. However, when I upgraded to Windows 8.1, it drops constantly, at least once an hour, making online gaming practically unplayable. My router is less than 10 feet from my laptop. And I live in a barracks(meaning that there are about a dozen other networks within range). On another note, I have a dual-band Netgear router, and I have tried updating the firmware, but to no avail. Downgrading back to Windows 7 isn't an option, and I am not sure if buying a new router would solve my issue. Is there anything else I can try?

  5. Hai Guyz,

I wish to create a fictitious world(for roleplaying) where it is plausible that both airships and melee weapons such as swords exist. I am by no means a scientist, but I wanted to make something somewhat more believable than say, Final Fantasy(E.G. very loose rules regarding science). So far I was thinking of making a young, yet post-apocalyptic world where fossil fuels such as petroleum and coal do not exist(either because the world is not old enough to have condensed carbon, or because they had been depleted by a previous Civilzation whose technology has become extinct). To compensate for lack of fossil fuels, people would use trees that produced Galvanized sap or something, which in turn could be used to power crude electrical devices or mechanical motors for airships.

  6. Hai Guyz,

While on an airplane to California for Army training, I came across this article in a magazine I found. Unfortunately the magazine itself was over a year old, and I couldn't find the article online.

David Gaider, who has been employed as the head writer for Bioware since 1999, is being transferred to the sports division of Electronic Arts. He will be the head writer for EA's upcoming title FIFA 14, which, according to EA CEO Andrew Wilson, will have the most extensive storyline out of any sports game ever released to console. The storyline will revolve around a budding young soccer player named Cortez, who is a refugee from South America that comes to the U.S, along with his family. in search of a better life. Other characters featured in the game will be "Player X", Julio's older brother who ran away from home for unkown reasons; Jorge, Cortez's father who is also a former champion luchador(Mexican Wrestler) of world renown, and a cobbler; Ambassador Perez, a corrupt politician stationed at the South American Embassy; Negro Muerte, Cortez's childhood friend turned rival; Gato Guapo, Cortez's team mate and goalie, who plays Soccer in order to raise money for his sister's chemotherapy treatments, and many more, all with thier own stake in the story. FIFA 14 will also feature appearances by many real-life athletes, such as David Beckham, O.J. Simpson, Michael Vick, and John Madden. In order to succeed at FIFA 14, the player must not only execute complex plays and strategies, but make tough moral decisions, such as whether or not to dope, endorse sporting good companies, or help politicians win elections.

"I am very much out of my comfort zone writing for a sports game, but I am glad that EA sees me as the right man for a difficult job. No one has done this before", remarks Gaider. "Everyone likes a good story, sports is all about drama and politics. We should have done this a long time ago", adds Wilson. Critics are very much on the fence as to whether or not this is a good idea. Regardless of the outcome, FIFA 14 will be remembered for a long time as arguably one of the most unique sporting games ever released.

I have mixed feelings about this myself. They shouldn't have forced Gaider the way they did, but I myself prefer RPGs to sports games simply for the story. Anyone else have any thoughts?

  7. From what I know, keeping a dream journal is definitely the biggest step if you want to lucid dream.

Written language exists for a reason, because we as humans can't remember anything. Writing things down improves memory, I can't explain the science behind it too accurately. There are several dream journal apps available for smartphones. Mine is simply titled, "Dreams Diary". For me, my dreams have not become much more lucid over the past year since I have started, but when I look back on entries sometimes, I notice a pattern. For example, by reading my own journal entries, I've noticed that my platoon leader was in many of my dreams. I also dream about my estranged younger brother and mother a lot.

  8. Hai Guyz,

My Jabra Halo 2 headset will not charge unless I wiggle the Micro-USB charger into a specific position. I have tried several different Micro-USB chargers, and they all have the same issue. I currently lack the funds to buy a new headset, and don't want to deal with Jabra's tech support again(It took me 3 weeks just to get an obscure cord in order to update the firmware). Is there a way I can repair it myself?

  9. The Strange thing about it is that I feel as though I use more of my brain when playing Pokemon than Skyrim. For example, I need different pokemon to explore different parts of the world. For example, I need a pokemon that uses waterfall to get past an obstacle, which means that I need a water pokemon. I then need a pokemon that is strong against psychic pokemon for when I get to the next gym. IN Skyrim, all I really did was use one of three things,a bow, and a fireball.
  10. Hai Guyz,

I bought Skyim a month ago, thinking that any game that stays 60 bucks for more than a year must be worth playing. I played through it once(which took 100+ hours), Instead of playing through a second time, I decided to revisit my childhood and play the pokemon games(I was 13 when red and Blue came out). In many ways, I found myself using more critical thinking than I did while playing Skyrim, despite the fact that one franchise is targeting the elementary school demographic, and the other is about catching animals and forcing them to fight(lol, see what I did there?). In Skyrim, I pretty much killed everything with fire. In Pokemon, I made many decisions, such as whether to have Bayleef or Suicune, or which pokemon to teach flash to. What do you guys think?

  11. Hai Guyz,

While The Nexus has no tolerance for piracy, I was curious as to whether emulators would fall under that category. I am assuming that emulation of current-gen systems would be pretty close(as the user is no longer required to pay for the game), but what about older systems, such as Playstation 1 or 2, or even the 16 or 32 bit systems? Also, I've recently discovered websites that emulate gameboy games right in your browser without any downloads, are these legal?

  12. I doubt phones are taking over the gaming market, i mean its a phone. Not to be rude but i can't see phones being a full fledged gaming console, the lack of controls is one and the fact its on such a small screen, its kind of pointless to say the smart phones are taking over the handheld market is dumb in my opinion. Unless something entirely innovative happens, like a psvita-phone happen it won't happen, its like comparing a tv to a phone. its always whatever has the majority. Its not like people are using it for that purpose, if they are its angry birds and small casual games that tend go in that direction. If you really think about it its the casual gaming market that's hurting the gaming industry.

I always get angry when people say that, pff phones taking over the gaming market lol, its casual games that's hurting...

There is no reason why they can't do both.

Although i do agree that Nvidia might fail on this one, but i give them credit for trying.

First of all, look at who has dominated the handheld market for the past 20 years, Nintendo. Nintendo doesn't exactly appeal to the hardcore gamer, and is perhaps the only reason they only had one console flop, ever. I personally never purchased a handheld console for not other reason than I'dm prefer the inferior gaming on an Iphone than have to carry around an extra device that I can lose.

  13. Oblivion and Skyrim were rather dull-looking by comparison. Despite being ten years older, Morrowind has a prettier night sky and better-looking plants. Considering the difference in processing power and graphics between 2002 and 2011, this perplexes me greatly. The one thing I do like about Skyrim is that I no longer have to choose skills.
  14. Hai Guyz,

I just beat Alduin with my first avi, this is after I became Arch-mage, Harbinger, and head thief. I am now bored with my destructionist, and wish to start a new character, whom I will most likely get bored with much sooner. Does Dawnguard add much gameplay to lower-level games, or is it simply geared towards higher-evel characters?

  15. Personally, I don't feel as though anyone or anything needs to explain how magic works. When Obi-Wan Kenobi explained about "Midi-chorlians" to Anakin, that kinda ruined the whole Star Wars series for me. Think about the engineers who made catapaults, they did not understand the relationship of gravity to say, the Earth orbiting the sun. Of Course, they understood how it worked from their own observations(I.E. Newtons Apple), but they didn't need a detailed understanding to utilize it for their own means(making catapaults). Edison knew nothing about quantum physics when he invented the light bulb, he simply kept plugging in different materials until he found one that lasted. Likewise, the Mages of Cyrodil don't necessarily need to know the science(for lack of a better word) that goes the spells they cast. This is fantasy after all, not science fiction.
