  1. Don't like to advertise other sites but it's been done .. https://nomansskymods.com/mods/not-tell-anybody-freighter-captains-secret/ Keep a eye on this site as it will probably show up here as well. Haven't had a chance to try it so make sure you have a backup save point Better safe than sorry.
  2. As most of you are aware the SSI (the last number in the galactic address ( or 2nd,3rd and 4th numbers in the portal address) are the 'locations' of the systems within the galaxy (Euclid for most people). Unfortunately the numbers are more of a index rather than a location, and this coupled with NMS's difficult to navigate galactic map becomes annoying quickly. I've read some peoples attempts to resolve this (pamebai6 and pathos11 discussion on reddit, 2 years ago) who came close... to the point of finding where the X,Y,Z locations with Offsets are located within the code. Yet no one has ever written a Mod to display actual coordinates or a mapping utility other than a basic 2d map to aid in getting to the center. Personally I am happy to explore forever in the start galaxy, since others are just re-hashed copies anyways. I have taken the Light Year distances of some systems and mathematically plotted them in 3D and the distances work out, so somewhere there must be actual coordinates stored. As far as I can tell the save file has some 'visited' data , but no complete data of the system. And it can't be randomly created because complete player restarts creates exactly the same Planet names and Distances. Anyone else find this annoying? Oh and the planet numbers aren't actually their positions either, it's also just a index (pointer to the actual location data)... Thanks for letting me rant.
  3. For those of us with mid/moderate systems, I was wondering if the Intro starfield could be removed. Now I know that it's just eye candy and in the background the system is busy loading graphics, sound, save files, etc. But how much quicker would it load if the loading screen would just be blank or a simple spinning cursor. On my system (as well as lots of others I imagine) the starfield is tragic as it jerks, freezes, and struggles to keep up... not fun to watch. However once I am in the game I have no lag issues on planets, warping, etc. Thanks, and please none of the typical comments of 'upgrade my system' ... not everyone has a bag full of money.
  4. Has anyone thought of doing a mirror (to avoid doing the TFC mode constantly) or a reflective surface. As we all know the wasteland has specialists that go around breaking each and every mirror in all bathrooms. Besides the obvious problem of displaying a wasteland backdrop that moves as the player does is it even possible. Could a blur or fade effect work so only close objects would be mirrored (or half mirrored in the case of glass) Wouldn't that create interesting false reaction possibility if the player rounded a corner in a dangerous place and saw movement (his own shadowed movement) The mirror even could be restricted to a players homebase on a wall opposite a blank wall thus avoiding unnessesary reflections. I'd consider doing this a introduction to modding, but wonder if I'd be wating my time .. is it even possible? Personally my modding skill level is beginner/basic, only having done tweaks and such to other mods for personal use only. I also wonder if there is any other interest in this topic out there? or people that have attempted it? I do appologize if such a mod already exists I did seaches for mirrors and glass and found nothing. Thanks in advance for any serious responses (although humour is always appreciated)
