Roughly 7GB of New Vegas mods

Eh-heh... let's just say my copy of FONV isn't exactly "above-board". So yes, I have a Steam-less copy, and I have all the data needed to install it on hand. Banned for piracy - TVD. -

Hm... I see. Well, I won't be able to fit that many mods. I have the game installed on a secondary hard drive. And I have to move the extensive mod archive I made... I have back-up copies of all the mods I downloaded, in case my net connection ever eats dirt. -
May be a 600rpm 30mm autocannon, but it has miserable ballistics over ranges longer than 1,000m... I would recommend something with greater accuracy, let's see what's available, hm? Here we go! The British GIAT-30M series autocannon! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GIAT_30 The 30M-781 uses the 30x113mm shell, and the 30M-791 uses the 30x150mm shell. Both variants are capable of as much as 2500rpm with a more acceptable muzzle velocity of 1,025m/s, versus the MK 108 at 540m/s and 600rpm... As for rotary designs I'd love to see? Gryazev-Shipunov GSh-6-23 - A 23mm 6-barrel rotary, capable of up to 10,000rpm, at a rather slow 715m/s muzzle velocity. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GSh-6-23 A good design, and not-quite easily portable. A hefty 73-76kg (161-167lbs), plus more for ammo. A nasty not-so-little number. But this one, puts it to shame... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GAU-8 The GAU-8 Avenger, as mounted by the A-10 "Warthog" anti-tank fighter. Firing the 30x173mm anti-armor high-explosive incendiary round to the tune of 4200rpm. Muzzle velocity is 1,070m/s and an effective range of 1,220m... maximum range is over 3,660m. This 7-barrel rotary is noted for making up a considerable amount of an A-10's forward weight, so the tail has to be jacked to prevent the aircraft from tipping should the GAU-8 be removed. This piece is no lightweight weighing in at 281kg (619.5lbs), plus more for ammunition. And considering the ammunition weighs in at 0.69kg (1.53lbs) or more per round... a belt of 10,000 rounds would be frigging heavy.

Dude... There's a... okay, it's a not-so-little mod. It's currently a WIP, but holy hell, it is HUGE. Allow me to introduce an idea of mine. A good associate, MjrMoose, is working on it. The mobile base crawler: http://newvegas.nexusmods.com/Mods/46173 I assure you, the roof alone will have enough space. Interior-wise? Hehe, just remember where ya put 'em. The crawler is big, okay? It's frigging massive. Unless someone makes themselves a county-sized airship, this takes the Biggest Player Home of the Year award. Tipping in at over a half-million tons of mobile metal, this crawler's got room. If you can't fit a good dozen crafting station in this bad boy... you're better off making a damned factory. -
I've seen 'em in MechWarrior, and was disappointed... I've seen 'em in Command and Conquer Generals: Zero Hour - ShockWave, and my attention was acquired... I've seen 'em in Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War, and was hooked. I speak of autocannons. Massive, rotary weapons sending hundreds of rounds per minute downstream. Large, .75 caliber quad-barrel weapons whose cumulative recoil has you going backwards without stepping. Smaller, .50 caliber 6-barrel weapons, capable of downing aircraft to the tune of 50 kills a minute. And, still smaller, 10mm 8-barrel weapons capable of sending near-solid beams of lead downwind to all but vaporize all but the most armored of targets. These are what we need. Weapons capable of room-clearance in moments, not minutes. Weapons, whose mere presence would send Deathclaws screaming like terrified children. Whose spin-up would have even the most violent of Super Mutant wetting themselves in fear. Whose firepower would send entire armies running for their homelands. Their ammo consumption is ridiculous, their spread is low, their damage is insane, their maintenance fees are extreme, and they are heavy. But, in the end, you look back, and know this much: That 30 seconds of warfare, is something nobody who survived, will ever forget...

In both cases... the recipes need to be converted for Craft Pack efficiency. -

And another example! Water Purifier Recipe 4 Steam Gauge Assemblies 10 Scrap Electronics 10 Scrap Metal 4 Fission Batteries 4 Surgical Tubing 8 Glass Pitchers 20 Flamer Fuel 1 Flamer 2 Recruit Decanus Helmets (I think they might work better as filters... and make the water taste like Legion ass) Put in Dirty Water, wait 5 in-game hours (to filter out the Legion taste), get purified water (hopefully without Legion taste). -

No, no, no... Example Time! Water Pump Recipe 2 Fission Batteries 4 Steam Gauge Assemblies 4 Glass Pitchers 6 Scrap Metal 10 Scrap Electronics 2 Pre-War Outfits (your choice of Business, Parkstroller, and Springtime... for filtration) Once assembled, plant it in the shallow water along the shoreline (your choice of Lake Mead or the Colorado River). Per day, it'll produce 12 Dirty Water. Combine your new income with a water purifier, and you're all set. -

Hm... thinking here... cuz if it ain't PN that has a CASE issue, something else I was using did. Even if PN had a CASE issue, sometimes a merger is all that's needed. ...you know any mods that'd have a mental problem with CASE? -

Well, issue is, this one mod I run (Fully Customizable Desert Eagle) has a CaliberX configuration, where-in the hand cannon in question is switched over to .50 cal. Action Express. Last I'd looked, some of the weapon mods (game, not kit) I run don't exactly get along with CASE. It's an unfortunate truth, but I think more than a few people find CASE to be a bit too complex for their tastes. Issue is... well, I'm inclined to agree with them. That, and a lot of the more popular mods, Project Nevada among them, just don't work with CASE, either. Another unfortunate truth is simply... in the Top 100 Mods (by endorsement), Project Nevada holds steady at Number 1, Project Nevada Patches is at Number 47, CaliberX is a distant 67, and CASE is nowhere on the list... Ergo, with exceptions, there aren't many who use your mod, Cyberlazy... Sad, yet true. -

o.o Damn, dude... are you making a mod, or remaking the entire crafting system?! o_O I find it hard to stock on stims when running Craft Pack. That, and I'm running CaliberX for my ammo supplies. -
That would be a good idea. I said split it into three levels, rather than a massive three-story level, but this'd work, too. I posted a link in the crawlers' comment thread about a good porta-turret mod. Also, I left a performance review, as it were, regarding the interior. Great job so far, this is definitely what I was looking for. And, it'll make a good home base. Fit some of the tricks they pulled with the Underground Hideout, and I think this'll be a perfect replacement, as honestly, bunkers get old, fast... Especially when you search "bunker", and your search tool goes "OMFG! I SEE DA BUNKERS!", and you get something like 100+ results a page for 5 pages.

Unfortunately, MjrMoose, I'm not surprised this one is losing out somewhat. I'm fairly certain a s***-tonne of people wanted to use the Base Crawler in Broken Steel as their new home base, but over 90% of it went into lockdown after the last quest in the chain. Likely irritated a lot of people. The Crawler mod may just hit it up as a Mod Of The Month, if not Mod of the Year, once it's completed.

Hrm... well, from what I've seen while hunting Deathclaws in Quarry Junction, you could use the tread textures from the excavators and such. Needs to be upsized (a lot) and redone (a little) to fit a crawler of that size, but they'd get that "recently restored and somewhat rusty" look you're going for. As for the suspension system... likely going to have to hand-craft the textures there, unless I find a good spot of inspiration for them. Honestly, I surprised though... the resources for the Base Crawler were hidden in the Old World Blues BSAs... makes sense, in a way... OWB is a post-apocalypse techno-industrial set-up. Would've been more surprised if it'd been hiding in the Lonesome Road BSAs. And, go figure... one of the biggest vehicles in the Fallout series successfully hid itself from damn near everyone, until I'd posted my request. ...Hm... The Robobrains have a suspension texture on them. Could use that, though you'd have to rework and seriously amp up the size and design to fit the Base Crawler. Any ideas as to where you're going to park it in the final version of the mod? If not, I could start looking for places to park something that passes for a mobile town. Of course, leaving it on the Ivanpah Dry Lake is a good idea, too. Don't really mind either way... We could always park it near the Horowitz Farmstead. Or El Dorado Dry Lake. Both have some serious open terrain going for them, enough for a crawler this size, and room to spare.

The rig and trailer look good so far. Were it not for the pickyness of the game engine used for New Vegas, I'd love for it to be a driveable vehicle... as it stands, it'd likely have to be a readily-fortifiable fast-travel alternative, like the Mobile Bus mod with its' bright red Vegasliner.
