  1. I'm sure the mod author is really sad that she will be blocked by people from a community that has threatened to kill her. Come on and grow up and find something intelligent to spend your time on, Nilanius.
  2. The sky is falling... the sky is falling... the sky is falling. Good bye and good riddance. I will not miss them (or you).
  3. The quote is from here https://www.reddit.com/r/skyrimmods/comments/4e7jg7/skyrim_mod_picker_progress_report_4/ Seems the joke is on me then :S When I read about the NXM link I had understood it to be a collection of links to the modpages and not for it to directly interact with Mod Organizer (or other)... Now that I'm re-reading it, I can see that might not be correct... My bad.
  4. Still?!?! This has NEVER been something they were going to do.. They've even talked about WHY it wasn't good... I don't get how people expect to be able to criticize and debate on a basis of hear-say, instead of education themselves about a topic before going full rant... Your point is automatically moot, if you haven't tried (at least a little) to figure out what you are discussing.
  5. I completely agree. If you don't want to associate with Mod Picker, don't go there. Nobody is going to force you to use the service. But if you are going to make mods publicly available, then you have given up the right to control who links to them. I know a lot of people want to treat the Internet like it's not a public forum, but it is. By participating in this community, you open yourself up to be talked about, linked to, reviewed, and tagged. There is just no getting around it. True... it's not like you can opt-out of getting your mod (or anything really) reviewed or talked about on Youtube etc.
  6. Huh? It sounds to me as you're attacking Mod Picker for pirating your mods and offer them on their website... nothing is further from the truth.
  7. I'm not sure how this is any different than from how it is now? Also I believe I've read in the document that Mator released yesterday that they would heavily moderate the comments and that support questions etc. (aimed at the mod authors) are not to take place on Mod Picker. Secondly, the way I understand MPs review (and reputation system) is that some user coming in from the street, can't give a mod a rating of zero (expecting a rating system from 0 to 10) because they have no reputation. A user with reputation, has that reputation because they've shown to be knowledgeable about how mods work individually and together. Hopefully Mod Picker will make all our lives easier - users and authors alike... Will it? I don't know, but I guess I'm a glass half full kinda guy where you are the opposite.
  8. Great... the discussion has turned into a bookclub...
  9. I seriously doubt that is how it's going to turn out, and if it is, Mod Authors AND Users will make the people behind Mod Picker hear us and make the necessary changes or their site will fail. I don't know if you play (or have played) World of Warcraft, but there is a site that's called Wowhead where user comments are also based on users "reputation", and it's working amazingly well. It seems as if Mod Picker is trying to do something similar to this.
  10. I have read them.. and I've read all I could possibly find about Mod Picker. As a USER, I'm extremely exited about this!!! But you still haven't answered the questions. As an outsider (not an Author and not a Mod Picker member) they way you and mlee3141 (and possibly others) talk about all these "dangers", seem to me you're worried about getting bad reviews. I don't know you or your mods, but I just did a quick review and I think something like Mod Picker would actually help get your mods more visibility, as they are fairly new with low endorsements and downloads.. and they (the mods) seem like good additions to Skyrim. I could be completely off the mark here, but as you havn't answered why reviews are bad, I've had to made my own assumptions.
  11. Why should mods (even if they are made by hobbyist) be excluded from reviews? How would a new modder be able to choose what mods to install and what not to install? Some (most I guess) make amazing mods.. but there are a few truly bad ones. Why should a modder have to experience it first hand by installing it, and probably screwing up his or her game? If I paint a picture and post it somewhere online, people will review it.. some will hate it, some will love it (not many though, as I can't paint) and some will come with recommendations on how I can do better.. why is this a bad thing? Everything else in life is being reviewed in some form or another... why should mods be excluded?
  12. Bravo Mator - I hope that this will help alleviate some of the concerns many have, and I hope that the Mod Authors and the Mod Picker crew can now work together to make our modding community even better...
  13. That is of course your right - I just hope that other mod authors are more open-minded and willing to see if things work out, before categorically acting like the world is coming to an end. I still believe that Mod Picker is going to benefit all aspects of the modding community.. I can be wrong, but I'm not so quick as to form an opinion about a project before I even see what effect it will have. Should it all work out in the end, I hope that you (and others) will join up about the addition of a new tool. I know all changes can be difficult and some things would have to be ironed out.. but it's impossible to make everyone happy.
  14. Truth be told I don't know much about the Nexus forums and it's users as I usually get my modding advice and troubleshooting from the S.T.E.P forums. But modding is not "easy" when you get over a certain threshold of mods. Just dealing the conflict resolution alone in a 200+ mods behemoth is enough to turn a lot of users/modders away from modding all together, and I'm sad to say that I've encountered my fair share of mod authors who are not willing to help or just say "load my mod last and it will work"... well.. I can't load all my mods last.. that kinda defeats it's purpose. But I understand why the authors don't want to deal with that hassle (although some could learn how to interact with other people). They are making mods because they like to do so.. not because they like to troubleshoot how it works with 934873984753 other mods. This is where I think (and hope) Mod Picker will be a huge boon to the modding community. Will Mod Picker fulfill all my wettest dreams? Well, maybe not ALL of them, but if the platform can live up to their promises then i for one can't wait.... And I just can't see the reason to fight something you have no idea how will impact the future of modding... Is it utopia to believe that Mod Picker will help Authors focus on what they love to do and let Mod Picker help with the troubleshooting and conflict resolutions?!?
  15. Point taken.. What I was (failingly) trying to convey was that it's been no secret AT ALL that Mod Picker was on it's way, and that it somehow seems to be some huge surprise to the vocal group of modders that "HEY!!! Why weren't we informed about this.. You (the Mod Picker squad) should have posted in our own little mod author forum".
