  1. Well, as I stated originally, in the past two play-throughs, I did *not* need to run Vortex in order to run the game... Vortex installed the mods and they loaded when I ran the game from the game icon... this has been true in the past for all other Vortex-supported games as well... It is only in the new run, that I am having to run Vortex first, before running the game; it's not the end of the world, but it certainly isn't of any advantage to run two programs for one game...
  2. A few months ago, when I previously played Elex II, I used Vortex to install several mods into it... it installed them with no issues, and everything ran fine. The first time I installed a mod, I would run the game from Vortex, but after that I would run from the game's desktop icon. This all worked fine. However, I went back a couple of days ago to start a new game. I ran Vortex first, and installed updated versions of my mods as required. However, behavior has changed a bit... when I run the game from Vortex, all my mods load, and everything is fine. However, if I run the game from desktop icon (installed via GOG), my mods are ignored, though the game runs fine... This is different from previous plays... what do I have to do, to be able to run the game *with mods* from the desktop icon??
  3. Okay, completely uninstalled Geforce Experience (Share was *not* enabled before that). Then did a clean uninstall and re-install of current Geforce drivers. Skyrim SE still has the pause, about once per second.
  4. cool, thanks L3s7ing, I'll try that out later. Not really looking forward to the whole uninstall/reboot/reinstall thing, but if that's what's necessary, I'll have to do it. It's still odd, though, that only Skyrim SE is affected, not legacy Skyrim.
  5. I've been playing Skyrim SE for 64 hours now, with no problems. Suddenly, yesterday, something changed. Now, suddenly, there is a jerkiness to the game. It is not just me, everything moving around has a slight pause to it, at roughly 1-second intervals. Unfortunately, two things changed yesterday, I don't know which is at fault; 1. I ran FRAPS 3.5.99 for awhile, to get some screen captures in Witcher 3. I turned off FRAPS once I discovered this issue, but it made no difference. 2. A new version of Geforce Experience was installed, though I didn't change any game settings. I checked legacy Skyrim, and it does *not* have this periodic pause. I checked Witcher 3, and it *might* have this pause, but much less if at all. I tried the FPS Limiter mod, did not help. I also turned on VSync in NVidia Control Panel, did not help. Later, I uninstalled/reinstalled the game, this effect is still present. Any idea what could cause this sudden change, and how I might fix it ? 6. Okay, cool... thanks for the reply! I went to SKSE's website; they are saying mid-March for a first beta on SKSE64. At first, that seems like a long time... then I watched the video !! It gives a really clear vision of how much work they have to do for this product. I'm incredibly grateful that they are so devoted to this project! I can wait for it to be available.
  7. One of the mods that I really appreciated in legacy Skyrim, was Uncapper, which allowed skills to rise above 100%, allowing further leveling beyond L43 or so. I don't seem to see any equivalent mods for SSE so far. Is this solely because SKSE is not ported yet? or is it some limitation to SE version? I would really appreciate having this option in SE. I realize that we can use Legendary mode to reset skills and keep leveling up, but I just cannot deal with that; I tried it *once*, with my Smithing skill, and really could not deal with being dumped back to level 15, after working so hard to get it raised in the first place!!!
  8. Well, I do alot of hiking in the hills around here, and I can't really agree with that... I have good distance vision (though I need reading glasses for close things!), and I don't see *anything* fuzzy/blurry when I'm hiking and looking around the countryside. Both near and further areas are sharp and detailed; that's also what I want in open-world games where I do alot of looking at scenery (Skyrim and Witcher 3, in particular). The original Skyrim (with various mods that I used) provided just such experience, and I really enjoyed it. Conversely, walking around the un-adjusted SSE, made me feel like I was perpetually drunk !! Having said that, the fact that it can all be corrected with in-game settings, means that all players can have the experience that they want in the game. I've very pleased with Bethesda, that they didn't force the default view on the users, but made sure that the settings were available to provide what each of us wanted !! I guess I wish the options had been documented or discussed (by Bethesda) somewhere, but this forum came through for me again, in lieu of such.
  9. Wow!!! YESS!!!!!! Perfect, thank you... So no mods were needed, just turning off all (or many) of the new in-game settings...
  10. I played SSE for awhile (after playing more than 1000 hours of original Skyrim), but was very frustrated with the fuzzyness of scenery. In original game, I was accustomed to walking across the countryside, and everything near and far was sharply in focus, even when I was moving. It looked much like what hiking in the hills in real life is like!! With SSE, they've done some things to make everything fuzzier, especially when moving. I added several mods that I thought would help (Skyrim 2017 Texture, Skyrim Flora Overhaul SE, Rivers for W.A.T.E.R SE), I also turned off Flare, but these didn't address the basic issue. Then I went back to legacy Skyrim, and everything was beautiful again!! Unfortunately, of course, there probably won't be any more mod development for legacy version, now that SSE is out. Anyway, I would like some feedback on the current state of SSE mods now; are there any available which directly address this issue? I know that when SSE first came out, many were commenting on this issue. I'm hoping I have some better options now. //******************************* Later note: Actually, much of my issues are addressed by this thread: https://steamcommunity.com/app/489830/discussions/0/312265589448686991/ Basically, turn off Godrays, change antialiasing from TAA to FXAA. There's still fuzzy scenery in the distance when I point cursor toward closer ground, but not so much that I can't live with it. I'm still interested, though, in whether there are other mods addressing this topic.
  11. Okay, this is resolved... I had un-installed Falskaar mod, and didn't realize that two of my plugins were linked to it. I had to re-install them and un-check Falskaar, then all is well! The two mods were indeed listed in red on the Plugins tab - but I haven't been looking at that tab, only at the Mods tab. I know better now! I still need to resolve mods with Download ID issues, I'll probably just uninstall and re-install from Nexus page, but either way, Skyrim is running fine now, and I learned some new debugging techniques!!
  12. Thanks for the all the inputs/suggestions; I will try them shortly, one at a time. As for the dual posting, I apologize for that; I actually intended them to be different questions; the other post was about Skyrim not running, this one was intended to address the NMM anomalies - but of course, since I started both posts exactly the same, nobody knows that. I should have just left this post, and not the other. Thank you all again; I'll post an update later, once I've done some of these tasks.
  13. May be... if so, it only affects Skyrim; Fallout 4 and Dishonored run fine...
  14. Steam shows me as having played Skyrim for 993 hours. However, when I try to start the game (whether from Steam, SKSE, or NMM), I get just the intro game screen, and then it shuts down without displaying the first menu. On top of that, in NMM version 0.61.23, 9 of my 22 mods show exclamation point under "Download Id", which seems to mean that the mods are not present on Nexus?? I ran "Check for missing/outdated Download ID", which updated most of the mods, but not these 9. Is this issue perhaps related to my inability to run the game?? I last played Skyrim about 2 or 3 months ago, and at that time it worked fine... //************************************************************************** I tried disabling all of the mods with invalid download IDs, but the game still does not run, so apparently that's not the issue.
  15. First of all, when I go to my library, it no longer shows Skyrim in the list. So I searched for Skyrim, and find it, and that page shows that I've played for 993 hours. But then, when I try to start the game, I get the initial screen, but then it just closes without ever showing the initial menu. I tried starting in offline mode, but that has the same effect. I tried starting via SKSE (I was using that for a special UI screen), but still get the same effect. Anyone have any idea what is going wrong here?
  16. I took the path of telling Captain Avery what I learned, then going and talking to DiMa... now he's back in Far Harbor, trying to confess... but the conversation chain keeps breaking on me... It will proceed a variable ways through the chain of conversations, but at some point it drops me out of the conversation, and just terminates it. At that point, everybody is standing around staring at DiMa, who has an action box above his head. If I walk up and click on him, he starts over from scratch, but then again it will drop out of conversation at some point, leaving me at this same point. I've tried about 20 times now; the furthest I can get is after we've all agreed not to attack Acadia, and Avery is on the verge of saying something to DiMa about how we can't just ignore blah blah blah... but I can't get the sequence to actually complete!! Is anyone else seeing this?? Is there a fix for it? Can I maybe jump the quest state further ahead in the console or something?? BTW, I'm on PC, Windows 7 64-bit //********************************************* Later note: Well, I'm not the only one seeing this issue, apparently. ITM, after another 5 tries or so, I finally managed to get through that routine without it aborting, and was able to proceed onward.
  17. I had downloaded and run the Trial version of DA:I, and it worked fine. I really liked initial play, so purchased and installed GOTY version (in different directory than Trial version). I then un-installed the Trial version. I then, perhaps, made a mistake, though I'm not sure. I installed version 1.0.0.8 of DAI Mod Manager, and installed a couple of mods. Then I tried to play the game, but many things are wrong. First, I keep failing to log into the game servers, it keeps saying "servers are down, try again later". This wasn't a problem with Trial version. I'm logged into Origin, but cannot log into the DAI servers. Then, after clicking OK on that, it opens the game in some kind of "windowed full screen" mode; I see a frame around the game window, and my Windows taskbar is still visible, which is blocking things that I need to access. I then went back to Origin and told it to repair the installation, which completed successfully, but did not address this situation. So what did I do to mess this up?? Is this just caused by failure to log into servers? Or was it caused by the Mod Manager? Should I completely re-install the game? Just to re-iterate, the Trial version was running beautifully. My system: Windows 7 64-bit, all updates installed CPU: Intel Core-i7-3820 NVidia GTX 980, 4GB RAM, with current video drivers 16GB computer RAM
  18. Okay, thanks for the notes!! Actually, I'm not even planning to advance the original game, I'm starting over from scratch - I just want to play through again!! So I can hope that they get *more* fixes in place before I get to those later decisions...
  19. When I played through the first time, I ended up stuck while getting the quest to destroy the Institute... my initial intent had been to work with the Railroad, but I ended up stuck on that quest sequence (I think I'd already run the Institute quests too far). So I switched over to working through the MinuteMen, but I got stuck there too; I had more than 10 communities already aligned with us, and all in Green status for resources, but I couldn't get past "get more communities aligned with MinuteMen" (don't remember exact wording). I read in various sites that this was a common issue, so I dropped the game at that point, intending to replay when these issues were resolved. So my question is: have they been yet? I'm in the mood to play through again, but am hoping that I won't hit the roadblocks that I hit last time!!!
  20. Later note: Eh, nevermind... I just needed to press 'E' to stand up... never have used that key before; I *thought* that I just stood up by pressing Up-arrow key, but I think I'm thinking of Skyrim. Anyway, everything is fine, I can stand this game again!! 8-{P //****************************************************************************************** I've seen some other allusions to this issue, but no solutions... I'm playing Game of the Year edition of Oblivion. I had some mouse-lockup issues initially, but installing L-Lite and resetting the codecs seemed to solve those problems. I have a variety of mods installed, which I'll list at the end of this message; they include Unofficial Oblivion Patch. Everything had been going fine, and my Khajiit is now level 18. I just completed Knights of the Nine, and am proceeding now with the main quest line. I was told to meet someone in Imperial City, he tells me to sit next to him, then gives me instructions - but I cannot stand up again!! No movement commands seem to do anything. I can spin around in my seat all I want, but I cannot stand up!!... I had to restore to a previous save, but I don't know how to proceed with the main quest. Is there, in fact, any solution to this permanent-sitting bug?? 21. I'm playing FNV with all DLCs installed. I've been playing for awhile, am currently level 20. I got access to the Ranger Safehouse, but an odd thing happens in there... If I pick up the armor or weapons, they are not visible in my inventory!! The weight of the items are there - with the result (for example) that once I pick up both Ranger armors to look at them, I am overloaded, but I cannot drop them because they are not visible!! The same thing happens with the weapons. Is there any way of resolving this?? //*************************************************** Okay, nevermind... once I did a quick-save and quick-store, everything was there and usable. I'll leave this post here in case someone else experiences the same issue.
  22. When I last played FNV (which was a few months ago), I used a mod that made the auto-map in multiple colors, and marked some locations on it. I cannot find that mod now... I wonder if I'm using the wrong words (auto-map, map) to search for it? Can anyone give me any leads? //************************************ nevermind, found it. Shiloh DS It just didn't turn up when searching for "maps"
