  1. Thanks for the reply. I've just solved it. Stupid problem with the normal map, yes. The names of my textures were, something like this: armor_my.dds armor_my_n.dds and I think the game was expecting armor_n.dds, not armor_my_n.dds. I had to rename them to: armormy.dds armormy_n.dds
  2. It seems to be a basic question, as my modding skills with meshes are not too advanced. I created a new armor. I placed both the mesh (.nif) and the texture (.dds) in the Oblivion Data folder. Then I created a plugin (.esp) in CS, where I created a new armor type and applied the mesh. I understand that the texture is defined within the .nif file, where I changed it to be my new custom texture. Now in game mode, I do find the armor, which I placed in a chest. Fine. However when I wear it on my character that body part becomes totally transparent. No mesh and its texture is rendered in game mode. What did I do wrong? What might cause this problem?
  3. You could pull an NPC from a defined list and then choose clothing from a defined list. Weapons. Even hair wigs. That would make a good diversity of models.
  4. I'm looking for a dark retexture or modification of the Elven Armor. I remember there was one. Just in case, the vanilla Oblivion Elven armor as here: http://i53.tinypic.com/34njgog.jpg
  5. I'm curious, among many great manor mods, what is your home in Oblivion? Do you have one? (maybe two? three? more?) Is it one of the original Oblivion ones (like Rosethorn in Skingrad)? Or one of the released mod? Or did you make one of your own? Any screenies?
  6. How can you wear your character like this (see the picture)? I know the picture is not that clear, but just ballpark... I've been looking for clothes/armor/weapons mods like that with no success. Any advise please? http://i55.tinypic.com/1118i2h.jpg
  7. Alright, more must-have mods. :) So, why would I need Unofficial Oblivion Patch? I never really istalled it. Would Oblivion run more stable or is it only a set of various fixes of the original game?
  8. This is probably the dragon mod you were looking for: http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=10819 Late reply, but just want to say thanks. That's exactly that. A great mod for flying and indeed Akatosh Mount was the one I was looking for.
  9. Marvellous!!!! I will try them out. Excellent stuff. Thank you so much! See this is exactly what I was reffering too. So many mods out there, some of them quite new, so it's difficult to keep track. A friend of mine laughed when he heard that I didn't use the hotkeys mod, that's how I learnt about it. And now with just a press of a button, you can do some really important stuff without the need to TAB-open the menu, scroll down through a million of spells, which you bought or crafted yourself. Not to mention all the great game fixes and improvements like COBL. I learnt about COBL from this very thread and I love it. I love the ingredients sorter. Not to mentioned all the high-res skin replacers, like HEGC. Anything else that I have missed? See, some of the mods expand the game so much and are such a booster, that it changes the game much. Example: new interface mod, simply outstanding, you can't live without it once you install it. Or Natural Environment mod, it's such breaktaking. Or NPCs/characters faces improvements skins, as vanilla Oblivion have such ugly skins. I can't believe they released a game like Oblivion wih such a nasty face skins. One more thing, I haven't mentioned any mansions/castles mod. Even though I consider some of them must-have ones, there are a lot of good ones, so tough to make a call. It's also very individual, depends on taste. Some of them are marvellous, thou. Ah! Yes, that's right. I've heard about it, never really got down to it. I remember that as I browsed through it, I wasn't sure if I like it. I take it that it's a must-have one? I also never got down to installing Unofficial Oblivion patch. I suppose you will all yiell at me (for a good reason) and tell me to go install it immediately. Am I right? :)
  10. I'm looking for a mods, which would enable your character to fly. Anything really. I remember there was a Flying Dragon mod, but I can't seem to find it. Also, I believe there was a flying mount (horse) mod. You could mount a flying horse or a dragon.
  11. Thanks everyone. I really appreciate all the input. Yes, I know that there is a top rated mods list. And I used it. However the most popular mods are not necessarily the must-have ones. I just don't want to miss a great mod, since there are hundreds out there. I had no idea about a couple of mods you've posted. I'm running approx. 100 mods myself, but I think I still miss some great ones. Here are some of the mods, which I consider an absolute must-have. Do you think I'm missing something big here? GENERAL * Bag of Holding * Fast Travel * All in One Basement BEAUTY PACKS * HGEC Body Textures v.1.21 * HGEC High-Res ver batch file (Ozmo's) * HGEC High-Res faces * Robert's Replacer Male v5 Beta * Beautiful People v.2.7 * Ren's Beauty Pack * Natural Faces 0.95 COMPANIONS * CM Partners * Astrianna * Sonia * Viconia DeVir RACES * Chocolate Elves * Corean Full * Dark Elf Remake * High Elf Remake * Abriael Human GEAR * Frostmourne & Lich * Silverlight Armor * Tyrael Armor SHOPS * OOnas Store * Apachii Godess Store * Midas Magic Store * Apachii Heroes Store ANIMS * Actors in Charge * Actors in Madness * Sexy Walk MISC * OBSE * OBMM * Keychain * DarkUIdDarn * Natural Environment * Wrye Bash * Hov's Hotkeys
  12. Apologies if the question has already been asked. I know you can sort the mods by popularity, but sometimes crucial mods might not be that popular. I don't want to miss something epic. So... what do you think are the Must-Have mods?
  13. OK, of course. I am stupid. :) I either make a new item or open an existing item and save it under a new name, so it becomes a new item. I then "Edit Base" and assign the .nif and .dds. Is that right? I tried that, but when I assign a .nif it seems to automatically apply the texture, even if I apply another one. How does it work?
  14. Hello, I have quite a basic question: If I have some custom stuff (.nif .dds and other things), what should I do in order to be able to use it in CS? In other words, I copy my data files to the relevant subfolders of the Data folder. Then I open CS. And how can I use my new textures and models, how can I make CS "see" them? I know how to use CS, I play around with it since 2006. In my own plugins I used vanilla Oblivion. I also helped in a couple of fan projects, but I never imported anything, some other people did this for me. I know how to place files in Data folder. i did that. Yet it doesn't seem enough and CS doesn't seem to "see" the custom stuff. Please help. Point me in a direction of a relevant tutorial or just provide basic tips.
