In case anyone else is having the same problem, here's how I solved it: I went to an internet cafe and downloaded Steam again, installed it - worked. I then had to download Skyrim again, which took 23 hours, after downloading, all my mods were corrupt/didn't work, so I had to download each and everyone again, install it. Now Skyrim's working again.

I'll try to find a hotspot tomorrow and hope that'll do the trick. Thanks for your help!

It is a legal copy, but since I am currently on an exchange I left my copy of the game at home. Steam starts up completely normal, says it's connecting to my account, but then I get a message saying that a connection to the steam network is not possible and offline mode is not possible because there is no login information saved on this computer. As I said above, that all started after I cleared my internet history, however I did actually not delete login information - I was still logged on to my other social networking sites etc. I think it's the crappy Internet connection here - the wireless won't work on my phone either. I'll try uninstalling Steam and re-installing it - hopefully that'll work. thanks Edit: I have now re-installed steam: when it tries to update I get a message saying: Steam.exe (main exception): To run Steam, you must first connect to the internet. I am connected to the internet!

Hello!! I can't start my Skyrim game ever since I cleared all my Internet history. I've singed back into Steam on the website, but I still can not start Skyrim on my laptop. My internet connection here is pretty bad, so my Steam account can - apparently - not be accessed from my laptop to start my game. Is there anything I can do to start the game without Steam? Hello! I just stumbled over this great mod: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/18602 The only problem that I have now, is that I would like to mix the textures from the different packs Slof offers. As I am completely unable to mod in any way, I'd very much appreciate if somebody could tell me how to mix the textures, how to rename them etc. - or if someone finds the time to do it that would be even better! The textured I'd like to have are: Altern. pack 6: Brindle grulla Altern. pack 5: dark blue roan pinto Altern. pack 4: strawberry roan, chestnut pinto zorse, marble chestnut Altern. pack 2: dun Altern. pack 1: bay brabant, kiger Thanks, Sylwina

Hello! Seeing as there are loads of mods out there that make female armour a lot more revealing, I was searching for male armor, that would let my character run around topless. Up to now I haven't found anything that does not leave the male running around in a skirt. Would anyone be interested in creating a mod that lets you use the bottoms of the armours without covering up the upper body and without it being a replacer? Thanks, Sylwina

I think I've found the reason why the game keeps crashing. I'm using a custom race, and my character is a vampire, and just after he advanced to the second stage, the game crashes. Could that be possible or is it coincidence?

MarkInMKUK: After selecting a vanilla race, the game didnt crash while fast travelling. Ill download wrye bash, and see if that helps. thanks again. edit: after reading through the wrye bash description, i think im not going to install it after all, sounds way too complicated for my (non existant) modding skills

I've started a save where the Elven Maiden quest isn't in my journal, and that one worked fine. When I tried taking up that quest, the game immediately crashed. First of all, thanks for the quick reply. I haven't started that quest, and I've also installed the latest patch and the Unofficial Oblivion patch - they're both supposed to fix that problem. After trying to delete the .ini document, to make Oblivion create a new one, it still doesn't work. I manage to start my last save game, but then after about 8 seconds the game crashes. It also immediately crashes when I try to fast travel to another place, or try to swim/run out of the harbor. Sylwina

Hello there! My Oblivion has started to crash 2 days ago, after I got to the point of the quest "Elven maiden" when all the Imperial watches run around the harbor. I have several mods installed, but they never caused a problem, as far as I'm aware. After searching through several forums and trying to fix the problem, the game still keeps crashing.
