Man...honestly, I'm having trouble getting into any of the mini-games, and at this point, don't like them. I had a horrible time with the fist fighting until I figured out how to button mash at the appropriate time. W1's fist-fighting was cool and funny when Geralt did his victory moves. Not interested in the dice poker and once was enough with the arm wrestling. When I read your comment on the Kayran fight, I got scared. No-no-no! Not jumping! Doing some crazy keyed sequence at a certain time in a certain way is why I DON'T play console games (well, I just suck at them also). I'm in that Act and will be taking on the Karyan soon. I sense much anguish on my end.

Witcher 2 Islamic textures in 1.2

It's cool, brother! This was a good topic to vent in for everyone (ha-ha). -
Another follow-up: I was getting pissed at dying while fistfighting the guards in Act 1. Did a little leg work that I first thought was a load of crap. Various people were saying how easy it was by letting your peripheral vision catch the sequence and then tap the button that pops up. After much screaming, "BS!" at the computer, I gave it a shot. It worked suprisingly well. I later tested this against the other fist fighters at the inn and didn't have a problem at all. Something else I miss from W1: hitting the ALT key to locate things. At this point, I just run into things until the Search icon pops up.

Witcher 2 Islamic textures in 1.2

Good call! Enough chatter (ha-ha). I hereby and humbly request that the modders reincorporate the texture in question that was removed. -------------- Shoop, how is it self-righteous to acknowledge that other countries have freedom of speech, but every country may interpret those freedoms differently? If anything, its an acknowledgement of multi-national differences. I wasn't making a value judgment (e.g.: good or bad). It was more of a "Yes, I understand other countries may view expression differently." Regardless, I said my piece about the whole issue and got it out of my system. I'm not going to lose any sleep over CDProjekt's decisions. They are still top-dog in my book for their responses to all the technical glitzes. -
Witcher 2 Islamic textures in 1.2

I was reading the Patch items and posted this the other day in the Community on the Witcher 2 site: "What the hell is this "fix?": "Islamic–themed and similar textures have been deleted and/or replaced."Pretty damn sad if you guys caved to political correctness or worse, fear. It's a game. If someone is "offended," they can a) not play, b) get over it, c) STFU or d) All of the Above. You should have put a freaking Islamic crescent tattoo on Triss's azz. (Aside: my wife is Islamic, so I'm not completely oblivious to this stuff). As for personal complaints regarding the game, I really, REALLY don't like the QTEs, and greatly miss the W1 style combat." I've read the other posts in this thread and feel they all have their validity given the multi-country market for this game. I understand that "freedom of speech" from an American perspective doesn't necessary mean a damn thing in another country, and even America's "freedom of speech" has become rather dubious over the last 20 years. Also, opinions are like azzholes--everyone has one. With that said, further elaboration of my opinion follows.... As I said, I'm married to a Muslim, and to make matters more entertaining, I'm Jewish. Heck, a good portion of my Jewish/Russian/Polish relatives were purged during WWII. Still, I DO NOT CARE if CDProject wanted to include "anti-Semetic" (I use that term loosely) pictographs, drawings, or even text, because *thunder booms* its a game....a game. That's it. Now, getting all riled up over their removal of the Islamic-themed items is undoubtedly just as ridiculous as someone wetting their pants over their inclusion. After all, it's just a game. Regardless, let me rant for a second. It just irks me as it comes across as "sensitivity-based" or "politically correct" censorship. No one wants to offend anyone. Well, if I buy an adult themed game, I WANT to be offended. I want boobs, azz, and buckets of blood. I want cursing, racist or ethnocentric speech, and some toilet humor. I want the game developers to say, "You thought there weren't any more limits to cross? Wrong! We break new barriers in offensiveness!" Something like that is ABSOLUTELY my money in their pockets! Yes, please. I'll take the game and give me another for my friends. I use the game rating system to make the final decision on whether or not I'll buy a game. I want a comprehensive list that says, "see web site for additional 2 gazillion items." I'll probably buy the new Duke Nukem game solely for the offensiveness as I hate FPS games. This is NOT a pretty world and neither is Geralt's. It's ruthless, cut-throat and bathed in shades of grey. I don't care what the reason was for the inclusion of the Islamic image, but just keep the damn thing there. Stand by the content and stick to patching the technical issues. OK, enough rant! I'm sure the modders will probably add it back, and I'll be sure to add that mod. If you want to put a Star of David on Triss's azz, go for it! :) -
Good call about the cutscenes! I figured it out purely by luck. I was randomly pressing keys and buttons to see if there was a way to get past that cutscene before the jailers and just happened to press the LMB. That little icon popped up and, I screamed, "Dear, God, yes! I want to skip!" (ha-ha). Would have been nice to know this from the get-go.

Meant to update this last night. Holding the "S" key worked great! First time I died, but I moved around a bit the next time with the "A" and "D" keys. Unfortunately, my journey was short-lived. I "like" how the book says the jailers are no problem and QTEs. Define "no problem." Let me ask this and I'll quit badgering everyone. "What key sequence do you use to defeat that fat jailer?" I see letters pop up on the screen and tried to press them but I still got my azz kicked soundly. I'm not sure if I need to be holding the left or right mouse button WHILE I press the pop up letters or something completely different. As another aside, thanks to everyone for being polite and helpful. I honestly thought I was going to get flamed to oblivion for posting a "lamer-gamer" thread. Glad I joined this place. On another note, I only found out about The Witcher two weeks before W2 came out. I was in a local Gamestop waiting for a pizza to be done next door and saw W1 Enhanced Edition in the bargin bin. It was only $12, so I thought I'd give it a shot. That $12 led to me sinking $130 for the W2 Collector's Edition! (ha-ha).

Thanks, guys. I'll give the "S" key method a shot. I tried it before since I was always facing the dragon, and it never did any good, but I'll try again with the "S" pressed from the get-go. As an aside, I know my thread sounds pathetic (ha-ha). It actually gets worse. I almost quit W1 during the encounter with the beast at the beginning. I swear I must have died two dozen times before I figured out the correct sign to use. After that fiasco, I ended up using the W1 trainer so I could "play better." Nothing beat taking a Swallow potion and charging into a group of attackers using Group Steel or Group Silver. That rocked.

First, this is absolutely NOT anything against CDProjekt or Witcher 2 in general--more of an issue with my game playing abilities. W2 is gorgeous and a playable work of art. It is amazing to look at with the graphic settings maxed out. I loved W1 as I'm an old school-RPG'er. OF course, I haven't played any RPG's since my all time favorites like Baldur's Gate, Icewind Dale, and Nevewinter Nights. Having waited 10 years to play computer games again, I am definitely a part-time or casual gamer only. Therein lies the problem. I hate FPS games because I can't play them. My level of suckage knows no bounds. I also hate games where I have to move a certain way or press a button at some obscure time to progress. I loathe the QTE events thing in W2, dislike the combat, and can't stand having to use the WASD keys to move. But, hey, I'm willing to suck it up--IF I can at least play, and at present I'm not playing well. I hope this isn't considered a spoiler, but I'm stuck at the second dragon sequence in the prologue. No matter what I do, I die...over and over. I read "how to's" online, but it didn't do a damn bit of good. I just die again. Even setting the game on Easy and turning off Difficult QTE Events doesn't do any good. As I mentioned, I suck at these type of gaming shenanigans. My request: Could someone upload a saved game after the aforementioned event? Or even a bunch of a saved games? This way, I could at least have some fun playing the game, which is the real reason I play anyway. If I'm not having fun, I'm not going to play. If I can't get any saved games, I guess I'll wait for a mod that might help (much respect to the modders!). Or send W2 off to a friend of mine to enjoy. Thanks, and sorry to ramble on.
