You want to be a game designer...
Start basic!
For your first serious bit of game design though, get UDK (unreal engine 3, but free- it's awesome) and for animation and what not Blender.
Bethesda probably use 3DS for modeling, but it costs thousands of pounds, and is hard to use for a beginner.
On the programming side of things... well if you're really new, just stary playing with `Scratch` it's fantastic for teaching programming principles, made by MIT, then for some real code, try learning C or C++
C++ Is used allot in games.
To work for them though, its going to require a formal qualification probably, either in digital design/ art... or programming, at university level probably.

Might be the wrong place to say it, but I like the decision to make one handed and 2 handed skill sets as well, instead of blade and blunt- it does make sense as well, as the animation for swinging a sword or club isn't going to change as you level, but the damage is- so it's the character getting stronger/ faster at this- and if you swing a club and a sword, it's a similar movement (unless stabbing, although similar muscles are recruited for the motion).

And now I'm even more exited!

Stealth, bows and daggers, with a bit of destruction magic for when it get's intresting.

Valenwood.
It sounds great, although perhaps a biy Cyrodillic... (a real word I think!)
In reality, I think we all just want a HD morrowind, not just vardenfell.
-
Is VRAM really such a big issue?
There are 1gb cards that wipe the floor with my 1.8gb GTX 295, I always thought it was the processor in the GPU that made all the differance

I want em dead to!
I'm sure there will be a mod if we do get unconscious ones (I used shadowmere as a big walking backpack!)
-
£50...
Got mine for £26!
The joys of PC gaming!
-
very cool indeed- will you be giving it an aged or battered effect?
Would make it that bit more EPIC.
-
It was shown on youtube on a well known skyrim chanel, I watched a few seconds and turned it off- I'm not spoiling my intro to the game with it!
-
I really like finishing moves... in first person- I detest the zoom to 3rd person though... will be switching that off or modding it out as soon as I can!
I like melee combat and realistic first person... 3rd person is for checking out my armour and posing.
-
I got an OCZ 850w for £70 ish, over 2 years ago.
And it's great!
-
I always make stealthy ones... since I'd be hopeless in a fair fight...
I struggle making them look like me though- with a high elf, if I take the age right back I can get a similar face, but the rest of the body is impossible, in oblivion at least, as I'm no where near that buff!
I'm hoping there will be sliders in skyrim for this, so I can change shoulder width muscle size and muscle defention etc, I dont like being a thief with a 65" chest...
In real life I probably wouldn't rob everything in sight... but that's what games are for!

A similar run of oblivion took a lot less, only a bit over an hour I think
-
It's a first person game... 3rd person is a little bonus- and it's designed to be played that way,and from what I'v seen, the first person sword fighting animations are better than most first person melee games... definatly up there with chronicles of ridick (did it brilliantly!) 3rd person all looks a bit slow, without much weight to the weapons.

Well they have got a current in the rivers apparently... so I reckon it wouldn't be to difficult with a bit of coding (probably 1 line or less!) to make the movement... 3d waves would be much harder though, the current ripples are just a shader- making the water move in 3d would have harder- although it runs of havok... but I reckon that's wishfull thinking!
-
With archery, unless you're really close, I cant see how a finishing move would work, unless it went all fallout 3 and went in slomo with the arrow impaling his head...mmm....brains.
With magic... similar story- unless ur doing touch magic (others forms of magic would be possible... but might get a violent (borderlands esque) with touch you could punch your flamey hand though them or something... but it all gets very borderlands (exploding head!)
All I'm really hoping for in this department is the ability to smack people with my bow if they get close
-
Makes me sad:(
I'v seen the kind's of waves that should be on those coastlines- I live near the north sea, and I can assure you... it's no millpond!
Bethesda have created different types of water etc for different areas (pictures of some geothermal pools somewhere, the water is clear and blue, not like the murky river water) but that's just a shader- I don't know if it animates any differently... It can't be too hard to make animated waves, cry engine 2 does it wonderfully (water isn't interactive though, boring 2d sprite for ripples etc from character)

I wanted something that rhymed... how about `5 aggroed giants`!
-
5 fiery swords ,4 arrows flying ,3 phycic chickens, two duel wielding swords, and a dragon in a burnt tree!
-
I was playing something similar the other day!
Albeit not nearly as well...
-
I don't think I would be allowed to even write it here...
It includes some rubber tubing, a pencil sharpener, an experimental form of Ebola, and a walkie talkie.

I have no idea why anyone wanted to duel wield shelds in the first place... even for comedy value it was stupid.
Web comic was funny though!
