Um, I already have Steam briefed not to update till I tell it to, and it hasn't. My game was working fine yesterday, and I have not installed anything new, but today it won't start. No warning messages, just unresponsive silence. The diagnostics in Vortex tell me this: Fri, 14 Jun 2019 20:06:04 GMT - info: starting server on FB1EYEB9M Fri, 14 Jun 2019 20:06:04 GMT - info: starting TLS server false Fri, 14 Jun 2019 20:06:04 GMT - info: starting server as Unix || Windows Socket Fri, 14 Jun 2019 20:06:10 GMT - info: ## socket connection to server detected ## Fri, 14 Jun 2019 20:06:10 GMT - info: socket disconnected false I don't know what any of that means, or if it bears on the nonstartingness of things, but if anyone can just tell me if this is a problem other people are having, and (if anyone knows) if it's related to the new update, that would help a bit. I'm fully prepared to wait till all my SKSE-dependent mods are version-ready, and to take a day to update everything when they are, I'd just like to know. Lethiel

I don't know if anyone else has this problem, but the ambient sound in the Ragged Flagon is REALLY loud and I can hardly hear anyone talking. I don't know if it comes that way as standard or if a mod has modified it, but presumably there's a base value for it somewhere. Does anyone know a way to turn it down without turning all the other ambiences down at the same time? Lethiel

Okay, feeling very stupid now. Thank you for helping me to see the obvious. Lethiel

1. Looking through modlist, discover I have a redundant mod. (Tavern Room Doors. I thought I had replaced it with Inn Room Privacy, but I hadn't deleted the former, so I had both.) 2. Think "Ooh! If I delete that one I can free up an ESP slot!" 3. Delete redundant mod. 4. Check plugin list. 5. I have one more plugin now than I did before I deleted the redundant mod. And it's in the FE slot. AAAAAARGHHH!!! Lethiel

Oh, is that what it is? I just saw Steam was downloading stuff and jammed on the brake. Does that mean I can let it go ahead? Lethiel

Just a thought. How hard would it be to make Klimmek's quest repeatable? The way it is now: you arrive in Ivarstead to overhear Gwilin and Klimmek talking. He used to make regular deliveries of dried and preserved food to High Hrothgar, out of the goodness of his heart (I like Klimmek), and he's due to make one now, but his legs are giving him trouble and he can't make the climb. You justify your shameless eavesdropping by offering to take the delivery for him, and he accepts with relief. You make the delivery, and he gives you money. And that's it. You never see him or anyone else toiling up or down the Steps with supplies, the offering chest is always empty, and for all you or anyone else knows the Greybeards have to live on fresh air from that point on. Wouldn't it be more immersive if, every month or so, you could pick up another bag, take it up to the chest, and maybe get a little more money? Or even a mark of Kyne's favour for being a nice person? If it was relatively simple (xEdit kind of simple; I'm still a CK novice), I'd do it myself. What does anyone think? Lethiel

I somehow seem to have become my horse. The controls move the horse but not me. I haven't even been to Winterhold, let alone met Brelyna, so it's not her fault. I'm going back a couple of saves. No idea what caused it, and it's never happened to me before, so hopefully it won't again. I'm pretty sure Onyx is a bit weak on One-Handed... Lethiel

Here's a thought. Is there any way to stop the courier, whoever he or she may happen to be, charging up to me bellowing about having this thing to deliver to my hands only when I am trying desperately to pass unnoticed down a back alley or gain access to someone else's domicile--in short, when I am sneaking? Could they be induced to hold off till I've finished what I'm doing and unsnuck myself? Not that the guards have noticed yet, but it surely can only be a matter of time. And to get arrested for the sake of a flyer about some museum in Dawnstar would seem to be adding insult to injury. Just a thought, as usual. Lethiel

I've discovered something interesting. In a sticky post on TKAA's page, triptherift admits that using TKAA with HMA, even with the patch, prevents you getting the "Father's/Mother's Love" buff from your adoptive children. This is indeed true. However, I've just run through Helgen Reborn, and been rewarded by the grateful citizenry with a Private Tower. There's no provision there for children to move in, but when I sleep there, all on my own, I get the buff even though Lucia and Sofie are miles away in Skyfall Estate. Another good reason, if one were needed, to run the excellent Helgen Reborn. Lethiel

I have a question. How many ways are there to tell Skyrim SE that you want it to run on your reasonable GeForce GTX 960M graphics, not your bog-standard onboard Intel 530 graphics, and is there one that might possibly stick? I found last week that when I first launched SSE I was getting not only no FPS to speak of, but also jittering grey textures on self and horse. A little search informed me that this was a common result of trying to run the game on grotty Intel graphics. I had already set it up to run on the GeForce, but I went through the settings again and made sure, and next time I launched it ran okay. And then the same thing happened the following day, and the day after that. Today I even tried disabling the damn Intel graphics. SSE still tried to run on it. It wasn't pretty. (From previous experience on online forums: Please note, while the kindness is appreciated, "buy a new computer/graphics card" is not an option. I'm a horrible poor person and what I've got is what I've got, and when it's working properly it suits my needs admirably. Your kit may be much whizzier, and I wish you much pleasure from it, but I have to work within my limitations.) I think I've covered every possible way now of making it clear that the GeForce, not the Intel, is the option to go for, but I can't be sure. If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know. Thank you. Lethiel

You don't have to be a mod to appear on this site--but it helps!

An awful warning - tread carefully with Vortex

I guess that wasn't in the documentation... :) Lethiel -

Exactly. I think the documentation is the main problem. if I had known about that right-hand pane, say from the migration page, I'd have been a lot less ticked off. So far in my new playthrough everything seems to be working okay... Lethiel
