  1. Fallout 3 has a more engaging storyline, better characters, more interesting area, enough mods to close any weapon / perk gap. New Vegas has better graphics, and better mechanics (aiming down the sights, implants, gambling, different currencies). For me, I started playing Fallout 3 after I finished New Vegas again a few weeks ago. Fallout 3 really seems to have a lot more replayability. New Vegas has two directions: North (The Strip), and South (Basically nothing). There's not really anything to see if you wander around, the entire game is based on essentially a single circular road, if you pick the Legion you miss out on probably 30 quests in favor of maybe 3, so you basically have to be NCR. Fallout 3 you can go back and forth between add-ons, instead of a one-time adventure and peace out. Point Lookout is like it's own game, compare the amount of content it adds (like 3 main quests + fully explorable world) to Dead Money, which has 1 samey retexture for the entire exterior, and a 15 minute trek through the casino, rewarded with 10,000 Pre-War money (100,000 caps) which don't weigh anything. Iunno, I definitely think New Vegas is gunna get really good as time goes on and mods just get incredible (Fallout 3 has 3 years of mods backing it up, versus under a year for New Vegas), but right now it's like a 20 hour main quest with static menial npcs.
  2. I always try to play from the start and actually feel like I'm in a wasteland, but 20 minutes in I have a thousand caps and the only two guns I need for the rest of the game. I downloaded Apocalypse Armory, which is awesome, because it makes specific ammo types so much rarer (since theres like a million new guns and ammo), but I haven't yet asked moriarty where my dad is and I'm sitting on 12,000 caps... So that brings me to my main question, which is just: Are there any mods that add really expensive things? It's hard to search "mods that use a lot of caps" on nexus, so I thought it'd be easier to post here. Right now I'll probably search for implant mods, like the ones from Vanilla New Vegas, because I feel like that was an awesome way to blow thousands of caps, and feel like there was something in the game I couldn't afford. Not to mention, I'm sitting on thousands of alien power crystals, I try not to sell things that don't weigh anything cause then I'd have gamebreaking caps (though like 2,000 is gamebreaking cause there's nothing to buy other than like 5 house things). I also buy all the pre-war money I see people have, because I feel like if I was actually in the wasteland I'd rather have real money than bottle-caps, and the exchange rate is higher :D But yeah, any mods to bleed all this money?
  3. What the f. I unplug my 2nd monitor, run fallout not as admin, game runs fine. Is there any way around unplugging my 2nd monitor? Kind of an interesting hard fix...
  4. Hi. I've been frequenting nexus for the past few weeks for New Vegas, and then Oblivion. Now I want to play Fallout 3 again cause it was awesome too :D I got everything installed fine (I have DLCs and mods waiting to be added, but for now I just want to get the actual game working), and updated with the patch 1.7. I run FalloutLauncher as Admin, it detects settings, I press play - screen goes black which it does for all games, for resolution changes, and then it goes back to desktop with "Fallout3 has stopped working, windows is checking for a solution to the problem." Ok. I run Fallout3.exe as admin, immediate crash, same message. Ok. I'm on Windows 7, quad core processor, ATI 4800 etc, so I change the ini for the quad core tweak with: "bUseThreadedAI=1 iNumHWThreads=2" Run FalloutLauncher as admin, play game, immediate crash, same message. Change iNumHWThreads=2 to "=1". (so it only uses 1 core) Run FalloutLauncher as admin, play game, immediate crash, same message. So that's Fallout.ini, but I notice theres FalloutPrefs.ini as well. So I tried three variations: Fallout.ini yes tweak, FalloutPrefs.ini no tweak. Run FalloutLauncher as admin, play game, immediate crash, same message. Fallout.ini no tweak, FalloutPrefs.ini yes tweak. Run FalloutLauncher as admin, play game, immediate crash, same message. Fallout.ini yes tweak, FalloutPrefs.ini yes tweak. Run FalloutLauncher as admin, play game, immediate crash, same message. Heard about some d3dx9 problem, copied my d3dx9 file into my fallout directory. Run FalloutLauncher as admin, play game, immediate crash, same message. Any help lol
  5. I voted female because of these: DK Female Face Textures | http://www.newvegasn...le.php?id=38788 - Amazinggggggggg face texture. Makes default look like Super Mario 64. Any Type 3 Body Replacer, I use Beware of Girl, but there are a ton that aren't necessarily adult mods (adult content warning*) | http://www.newvegasn...le.php?id=34702 - Amazing character replacement. Just makes your 3rd person view a little more appealing (if you play a girl char). Anthony Lings Coiffure - Hair, Eyes, Lashes | http://www.newvegasn...le.php?id=35352\ - Great hair choices, and a million new eye colors that arent the default: light brown, dark brown, blueish brown, and greenish brown. Copy pasted from here: http://www.thenexusforums.com/index.php?/topic/374955-recommend-me-some-mods-please/page__st__20 I think it's perfectly fine to play as a female character even if you're a dude, because it's all about the experience. The appearance of your character can be better customized if you choose to play as a female: facial texture (with DK) is better, bodily appearance (with Type3) is better, Hair/eyes (with Lings) is better. But if you're still not sold lol, it's all about who you want to play as. It doesn't change your personality, or your characters personality, to play as a different gender; merely the aesthetics of your gaming experience. Personally, I don't want to watch a dude run around a wasteland for a hundred hours, so it was an easy choice for me XD
  6. These are all incredibly strong recommendations. I def. cant play without them either. I'd add: DK Female Face Textures | http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=38788 - Amazinggggggggg face texture. Makes default look like Super Mario 64. Any Type 3 Body Replacer, I use Beware of Girl, but there are a ton that aren't necessarily adult mods (adult content warning*) | http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=34702 - Amazing character replacement. Just makes your 3rd person view a little more appealing (if you play a girl char). Anthony Lings Coiffure - Hair, Eyes, Lashes | http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=35352\ - Great hair choices, and a million new eye colors that arent the default: light brown, dark brown, blueish brown, and greenish brown. Darnified UI New Vegas | http://forums.bethsoft.com/index.php?/topic/1128267-wipzbeta-darnified-ui-nv/ - Use if only for the "Stats" tab, which puts all of the information on ONE page, instead of 10000000 like default is. Paired with Radius (see:above) it makes for an epic pwnage of the default pipboy. DarnUI also adds the font / size changes that help in other aspects. Though the radar change is less than satisfactory (if you look at teh radar a lot it might take some getting used to). Ojo Bueno UHD Textures | http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=39755 - A must have for high end computers. This changes the default 400x400 textures with 4,000 by 4,000 ultra high quality alternatives. A mod of this quality should be a patch. That's how sick it is. Most of my suggestions are pretty aesthetic lol, but thats because Project Nevada covers anything else you could possibly need to change in the game.
  7. I'd definitely say Project Nevada. If I had to pick 5 mods, I'd play with just Project Nevada for gameplay, the DK facial mod for character appearance (I'd actually rather have the dk facemod over Type3 and Lings hair/eyes, thats how important it is to my game XD), and Ojo Bueno 4k textures + Imaginator + Nevada Skies for world appearance. Having single large mods for each type of mod makes less conflicts meaning smoother and less crashing :D Sadly for me, I have the same problem as you (i assume) where I lurk nexus for 5-10 new mods every day and end up trashing my source folders with conflicts.
  8. @Blackboltz Have you looked at the Desert Succubus mod? You can prolly search it on nexus, may be what youre looking for.
