  1. We appreciate all of your support and desire to contribute. However, the Script Extender team cannot accept donations. We work in the software and game industries and accepting payment could compromise our ability to continue working on the project. Plus when we started this whole thing (back with OBSE in 2006) it was not permissible for any modders to accept any money (via donations, patreons, gofundmes or what have you). So the spirit in which we started these projects continues - we make the script extenders to enable better mods to make a better game experience. If you want to give back to the community - go write a mod or support the mod developers directly.

A big salute to you and the team doing SKSE,

    refusing $ yet encouraging creativity

and supporting those who create mods

with your vital work, and enticing support for them, not yourelvss.

This is so inspiring that even Bethesda can not ignore your efforts.

They should at least help you on the way to do so.

They obviously know of your potential in this SE run?

  2. hi, thanks for the tips.

@saurusmaximus : I installed mods (all of them) after escaping Helgen. Before installing them everything seemed to be working fine.

I deactivated the ars metallica mod, to no avail. I then removed all other mods one at a time without change to the sound issue (my Dragonborn also has a silent thu'um it seems)..

Starting a new unmodded game didn't solve the problem. I did not reboot the system in between the steps though.

@NCRForever : After rebooting the system both unmodded saves returned the sounds as they should be. Reactivating the USSE Patch caused the same problems with sound as before.

So I'll have to do some more experimenting with mods after work.

Thanks for the suggestions, both of you. Much appreciated.

  3. hi, I'm not sure if this is a compressed audio issue or something else.

ambient music in game plays only sporadically, every 30 mins or so.

there's no event music when there is danger nearby, there is no combat music.

fights are silent, apart from a very weak clunk when my warhammer hits the target. Opponents are silent.

yet the final deathblow sound (the final aargh, whimper or whatever) of the opponent plays correct.

ambient sounds in and out of dungeons (wind, water, leaves, etc) play correct. all dialogues and noises from NPC's play correct.

    found this in Skyrim.ini :

    in

    [Audio]
    fMusicDuckingSeconds=6.0
    fMusicUnDuckingSeconds=8.0

not sure if these are correct values

It may well be the near absence of music is a 'feature' in SSE, and it's a minor issue to me.

But the near silent fights make me feel like I'm Agent 47 in Hitman.

active mods : Unofficial Skyrim SE Patch, ars metallica, capes&cloaks, forgottencity, lampposts of skyrim, the paarthurnax dilemma

  4. i figured i would need the creation kit, looked it up, and found this : http://www.creationkit.com/How_to_generate_voice_files_by_batch and this : http://www.creationkit.com/Bethesda_Tutorial_Advanced_Dialogue

so if i read this right, i need to convert the .wav files to .xwm via xwmaencode. but since the dragonborn doesn't require LIP files i'm not sure if i can make a .fuz from just the .xwm file.

    it's a start :)

the advanced dialogue covers added quests etc, but has no clues on how to add voice to the main character.

  5. hi,

i'm probably not the first nor the last one to ask, but i'd like dragonborn to have a voice, my voice to be honest :D

i'd like to give it a try, but i have no clue on where to find all of the dragonborn's dialogue lines, and how to proceed to implement the sound files into the game

(probably in Skyrim - Voices.bsa or Skyrim - VoicesExtra.bsa). i extracted the voices.bsa file with BSAopt. it seems all the sound files end *.fuz

how does one convert .wav or .mp3 files into .fuz ?

other than that there is linking each voice file to the right dialogue in skyrim.esm....

any pointers in the right direction would be greatly appreciated :)

    cheers

  6. there is already a master alchemy mod, which is a book that will help you remember the recipes.

no need to do the same work twice ;D

I'm inclined to disagree! Technically speaking, the game "keeps a journal" for you too- but that's not personal at all. I think it would be terrific to be able to keep my own journal of ingredient effects and combinations, in my own words, and with my own commentary, just as much as I'd like to do that with journaling my experiences and adventures!

Speaking of which- this would go brilliantly along side an as-yet-non-existant mod to create original custom map markers immersively, from in game.

"Found a splendid little fishing hole up on the ridge behind that bandit lair today. Must be careful not to rouse the bandits attention though. Also, mind the giant mudcrabs- they are sneaky and vicious!" *add marker that says ~Dangerous Fishing Hole~

Also fun would be the ability to keep notes and make custom markers INSTEAD of the in-game official ones:

"Deep ancient Nord Dungeon was the crypt of Hjerkum Jjerk. Learned a new Thu'um here that peels fruit with a shout!" or "Found a Forsworn camp up on the ridge, but my bag was weighed down with fish so I snuck past. Must remember to go sort them out before they make trouble for the village nearby."

For those of us who tend to explore more and follow proscribed quests less, this would be a marvel! (Not to mention how spectacularly it would fit in with Frostfall: Hypothermia for immersion!)

don't get me wrong FathomsDeep, i only pointed out that a recipe mod (not the game journalling mechanics) was already out there in response to LordSacasm's remark

It would useful for alchemy to remember those myriad of recipes, which is the main reason I don't use alchemy that heavily.

there is already a master alchemy mod, which is a book that will help you remember the recipes.

no need to do the same work twice ;D

his question was about remembering recipes, thus a means to make your own book (with his own notes presumably) for recipes.

sorry if that was a bit unclear.

keeping personal notes (be it about recipes, spells, adventures and pitfalls your encountered and al the like), and as you suggest, custom map markers, would add greatly to the personal journey and immersion of any player wanting to record her/his adventures and thoughts in the game. sharing these would be even greater ;)

it's been a time since i checked this forum out, but is there a possible mod out yet?

  7. imho you should hold your horses.

i don't think uploading copyrighted material

such as the tolkien and assassins creed books

    is allowed through the nexus.

writing your own books is -of course- what we all want =D

oh yes, i need this mod too. Will be SO nice can read real books in the game. If someday it can be possible, i will upload the J.R.R. Tolkien books in English and in Portuguese (Brazil) and other books .I can upload Assassins creed (books) , Diablo, etc.

I can make books of magic and other cults or religions. The possibilities are many.

  8. there is a personal notebook mod on the nexus, albeit with some restrictions. only 20 pages (but someone found out how to create several notebooks), and no in game editing (though you can use alt-tab and the game updates the journal). so far that's the closest thing to a journal mod for skyrim out there.

not perfect, but a very valuable asset for now :D

So, has such a mod come out yet?

  9. nice addition to the readme-twist. thanx <img src='http://forums.nexusmods.com/public/style_emoticons/dark/biggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':D' /><br />but the point is tying the right readme-file to the right mod. <br />i couldn't try your links (a couple of the files were hidden atm).<br />but could i safely conclude that they generate readme's, with reference to the mods they refer to?
  10. Soon Skyrim will be 1 year old (hooray!! cheers!!!).

It would be appropriate to organize some festivities on this occasion ;D

    I'll bake a Dragonborn cake.

Maybe somebody has ideas on what the Nexus-community can do to celebrate?

    Maybe even a birthday mod?

Should Bethesda celebrate as well? With some new, and hopefully free birthday-DLC?

    Just dreaming aloud :D
