Existing mods you want recreated for Fallout 4
Taejang007 replied to Taejang007's topic in Fallout 4's Mod Ideas
Updated the list! I've also found a few mods that are starting to qualify as replacements to those requested; they have been added to the list for interested parties. As always, let me know if a new mod crops up that I'm not aware of. Threw in a little description there. -

I've updated the OP. Great suggestions! Gonna have to add some of these to my games (like that Death Alternative mod). -
Existing mods you want recreated for Fallout 4

OP list updated! I'm not familiar with the Devious collection and am having trouble tracking them down. Unless that's them over at that site, in which case I'll not be adding a link for obvious reasons. -
What? There is no level cap in Fallout 4, and some of the perks require at least level 50 to get!

A collection of popular Skyrim, Fo3, and NV mods that we want ported to Fallout 4. This list is not meant to replace, but rather to supplement, this other list. Please include links to mods you suggest. To keep the list somewhat trimmed, I'm combining similar suggestions, and I'm excluding suggestions that have already been created/ported in some fashion (as an example, body mods are already up, so I'm excluding suggestions like CBBE). If something on the list has been created, let me know. UPDATE: The list is now in order by endorsements. Entries with multiple linked mods are listed by the mod with the most endorsements. If you know of a mod similar to these which isn't listed and want it listed to change the listing order, comment! There is already at least one mod that removes blood splatter from the screen in Fallout 4. There are existing mods to remove/reduce gore for Fallout 3, Fallout New Vegas, and Skyrim. There is also a mod for Skyrim that lets you control the frequency of kill cams (when the camera zoomed in to show decapitations and such). A profanity filter is harder to do; I've used the mod that does so for Fallout 3, and it was an imperfect creation. I don't remember seeing a similar mod in FNV or Skyrim, though it wasn't high on my "search for" list, either. "Family friendly" mods are not the most popular, so it usually takes a little longer before somebody makes one. Often, as was the case with Skyrim's kill cam mod, they aren't dedicated family friendly mods, but rather mods which can be used for that purpose. Nexus already has over a thousand F4 mods; give it a few weeks and I'm sure mods will be created to remove gore and probably recreate the kill cam mod from Skyrim. Removing profanity, however, may or may not happen. When the creation kit is released next year, it will be relatively trivial to remove most or even all the blood and gore from the game. If nobody has released a mod by then, I recommend you spend a couple hours figuring it out and can then release the mod yourself. Again, removing profanity is more difficult, but if you are serious about it, wait for the creation kit.

Fantastic. Can we get it stickied? Any guides for troubleshooting? Most errors should be fixed/avoided by proper installation, but where are useful logs / error lists and explanations?

There is no stickied thread for basic information about mod troubleshooting. Things like what programs to use, where to find error logs, etc. The FAQ links for installing FO3 mods and troubleshooting them (actually a link to Oblivion) don't actually link to anything. Is there a thread in existence that can be stickied? Can anyone point me to a basic guide / how-to / tutorial for FO3 mod troubleshooting?

You literally took the words off my keyboard. I refreshed the page after logging in on a different tab, reached to the "New Post" button, and saw this just before I clicked on it. There are some pretty decent looking quarter staves in Jaysus' weapon mod. But the animations have them swinging like baseball bats. Probably based on two-handed axes or something. Looks absolutely terrible. So terrible I literally won't use them; instead, I collect them in all the variants, stick them in weapon displays, and gaze at them longingly. I agree, the animations would be very difficult to do. But can you imagine the satisfaction? I cannot. It would be too epic to fathom. Battle staves, swinging, whirling, and crashing heads. Bladed staves slicing and dicing like a Jedi moving through clonetroopers. Oh animators, please try and accomplish this!

Sound advice. This works pretty well so far. Actually played without any crashes, at all! Is it weird that that is an amazing feeling?
-
Hate to disagree guys, but after removing Realistic Leveling, I'm crash free. Played three hours in a row without a hitch. I agree that my 5145 is pretty weak, but Oblivion is a six-year-old game. Even with all the mods and the graphic settings cranked up, my piddly little card is doing fine. Now Skyrim, on the other hand...

The FormID for the chest is "000831ae". Not modified by anything. It is in the Elven Garden section of the sewers, in case that rings a bell for anyone. As a further update, the crashes happen more frequently when I'm actively doing things- fighting, making potions, etc. It never seems to crash when game time is frozen (so it doesn't freeze during conversations, when the inventory is open, when picking a lock or making a potion, etc). This lead me to think maybe it had to do with sounds, so I disabled various sound mods, then music mods, then the silent tracks mod, then other mods that add sounds (like All Natural)... no luck so far. EDIT: Upon further reflection, I realized level-ups preceded most (but not all) of the crashes. Disabled Realistic Leveling, and my only crashes now are when I quit. I don't know how that mod could cause many of the crashes (such as with the chest- I didn't have to level up my security skill to crash, merely had to open the unlock dialog). But the chest works as intended now, and I haven't had other problems.

So I'm trying to replay Oblivion. And of course I have mods installed. I've worked out most of the kinks myself, but there are still some random crashes and problems. I know Oblivion has always (and will always) have some random crashes. But this is more frequent; I'm thinking I did it with a mod(s). If anyone is already aware of a problem, it would save me hours and hours of troubleshooting, and I would really appreciate it. The only reproduce-able crash I'm experiencing right now is a chest in the sewers. Locked, hard difficulty. If I open the unlock 'mini-game' and exit, the game crashes. If I open the mini-game and unlock the chest, I can loot it (15 gold), and upon closing the chest the game crashes. This does not happen with other chests, locked or not, in the sewers or not. I've also had the game crash when opening a sewer gate and when walking in the sewers (not fighting or anything). I've spent roughly 2 hours in-game. Mod list (in load order) Other important details Oblivion.ini changes: Stuff I've already done to eliminate crashes:

Blog Piece: Nexus plans for stability and infrastructure improvements.
Taejang007 replied to Dark0ne's topic in Site Updates
As so many have said, thank you for your hard work. We do appreciate it, even if the internet as a whole doesn't do a good job of saying so most of the time. I don't know if you have done this before, but if ever you want help with something (like suggestions on how to implement an error logging setup), you should feel free to blog about it. You have at your fingertips some of the smartest internet users around: mod designers. Some of us have extensive experience in running servers, server clusters, etc. Compared to designing, building, and testing a mod, writing some advice takes no time at all. You can then pick through the advice you get and further investigate promising leads. We are the interwebs. Use us for what we do best: sharing ideas. -
I'll add my voice of agreement to this. I've found only a handful of plate armor that's pretty decent, and realistic robes and leather armor are even harder to come by. They all look like lingerie or angry punk leather BDSM outfits.

I'm not going to lie, taking down a dragon while wearing power armor would be pretty sweet. As would shouting a mutant or an enclave soldier off a bridge. But alas, my skills are not up to this task.

Skyrim has an immense amount of freedom to go where you want to go. But many choices are limited. I'd love to see a mod (or a series of mods) that addresses this. Below are some issues I believe could be improved. 1) Allow the player to expose Sybille Stentor as a vampire, removing her from her position and teaching her arrogant self a lesson. The other mage in Solitude, Melaran, would have course take her place (as he does by default). Currently players can simply kill her, but cannot expose her, even if the player is a Dawnguard member. 2) Expose Anuriel as an agent of Maven Black-Briar. This also exposes Maven herself, who should then be imprisoned. Because of her immense support in the town, this could lead to a civil war between the guards. A cool idea would be to bring in Imperial or Stormcloak soldiers to restore order and take control, making this an alternative to the existing main questline. In the end, there could be options for Laila Law-Giver retaining the Jarl-ship, or it passing to another- perhaps Mjoll the Lioness, who would undoubtedly take an active role in any Riften civil war. This would be a complicated mod, but you can see the possibilities would be awesome. Mixed into this would have course be options for removing the Thieves guild, but there is a mod in progress to do that already. Because this would change the dialog for the main quest line (namely who is named Jarl after the peace conference or during the questlines of the respective sides), it may involve changing some voiced dialog to silent dialog, but that wouldn't be too horrible for the benefits. (There is a mod that does some of this, but it seems development has stopped and the mod isn't complete.) 3) Expose the Silver-Bloods and purge the corrupt guards. This too would change the main questline, and who can become Jarl, but would be immensely satisfying for almost any type of player- good guys want the city purged, bad guys want revenge. Jarl Igmund could be left in-place or removed for his role in the Foresworn massacres when Ulfric took the city years previously. Or Igmund could be killed by a vengeful Silver-Blood supporter, or even by the player (up to the mod designer). If the player hasn't gone to the mines yet (it would be best for the quest to let the player avoid this outcome with more aplomb than the stock game allows), then the Foresworn king could be hunted down and the mines themselves purged as well. Again, because of support for the Silver-Bloods, there could be an open guard rebellion, forcing Igmund into exile (or killing him), and allowing the player to bring in the Empire or Stormcloaks to restore order and take control. 4) Slap Jarl Balgruuf's children. Or scold them. Or scare them. Or get Balgruuf to do something. ANYTHING to get them to stop disrespecting the Dragonborn. Its just so annoying that after saving their town from a dragon, you have to put up with the spoiled brats in silence. 5) Ancano isn't exactly sneaky about his 'clandestine' activities and hidden purpose in being at the College. The player should have the option to interrogate him, kill him, kick him out, or do something to him earlier on in the quest. The mages don't like him and have no reason to allow his presence; why they do so is beyond me. This could lead to a showdown between Ancano and the Archmage, leading to the Archmage's death, thus preserving the timeline. This must be a cutscene to prevent the player from intervening. Ancano could then rush (or teleport) into the Magnus room and seal the entrance, requiring the player to fulfill the rest of the quests without any stupid, "Why couldn't I stop the bugger when he was obviously up to something?" thoughts. 6) Option to attack Ondolemar without the guards interfering. This can happen if the player has killed enough Justicars previously, and the guards don't interfere, but the guards will interfere if the player attacks him directly (despite Markarth's history of Talos worship and animosity towards the Empire). An easy way to do this would be giving Ondolemar a dialog option similar to wandering Justicars, where the Justicar attacks after the player refuses to agree with the Thalmor view of Talos. It may not allow a direct attack, but does allow any player to, in a sense, initiate the attack, and all that dialog is voiced and in place already. Some of these would take some serious effort to do, and some wouldn't be so bad. I'm willing to help alpha-test these if someone is willing to put in the design work.

LE Non-slutty Expert/Master mage robe replacers
Taejang007 replied to Mizati13's topic in Skyrim's Mod Ideas
http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/3296 The author of that mod did exactly what you want with a variety of other armors. Not with mage robes, however. But I bet you could ask 747823, and get them included. Maybe even get the mod updated, which I for one would love. Let's face it, Skyrim is cold. Even if it wasn't, armor is meant to cover skin, not expose a combatant's heart. Granted, mage robes aren't 'armor,' per se, but I don't think of most mages as strippers or Hooter girls, either. They probably want to be taken seriously, and be able to walk around town without catcalls or the threat of some Nord oaf trying to rape them. Also, if Caliente releases some nice changes like what 747823 did, I'd appreciate a heads up. -
LE simple requests for hunting/archery
Taejang007 replied to wierdestkidyoullevermeet's topic in Skyrim's Mod Ideas
Correct me if I'm wrong, but with the stagger perk, don't animals stagger after being hit with an arrow? Or you can do what I do. Use paralyze poisons so they can't escape. I figure the poison cooks out of the meat, similar to cooking alcohol. Also, there is a mod floating around that makes poison remain on weapons for more than one hit (or one arrow), which is more realistic- you aren't going to use an entire bottle of poison on one arrowhead. As another option, crossbows introduced in the Dawnguard expansion are great for hunting. A steel crossbow with a little Smithing can take down most animals in one shot, and crossbows are accessible early on for just about any character. -
So... what you are saying is your idea of basic morality is different from someone else's idea. Is that a bad thing? Take the US versus Europe. Nudity to many Europeans is much lower on the 'immorality' scale than violence. In the USA, violence is much more socially acceptable than nudity. Different opinions do not mean one opinion is better than another. Studies have shown that those exposed to violence are more likely to engage in violence. Rail against it all you want, the studies support it. Likewise, those who grow up with musical parents are more likely to play musical instruments. Its basic environmental training. To say otherwise is to argue that we are all born a certain way, and culture, environment, language, family life, etc. have no impact on who we are. Now, everyone has different ideas on how much of something it takes to leave an impression. How much it takes also varies from person to person; some people don't need to be exposed to any violence to become violent themselves, while others would probably never be violent, even if you threw them into any situation for any duration of time. Who's to say the parent is right, or the parent is wrong? I agree, some are overprotective. Others don't protect enough. Beyond even this concept, some of us (myself included) don't like these things. Age and maturity have yet to make me enjoy gratuitous gore, irregardless of whether seeing it will change me or not. I simply don't like it, and enjoy playing games more when it is absent or lessened. If the OP's parents don't like the violence in video games, they probably don't like the violence in many movies and TV programs, and probably restrict what their kids see there as well. Additionally, the OP didn't ask for the removal of game concepts (like werewolves, vampirism, cannibalism, theft, etc). He asked for blood, gore, and sexual content. Those are all possible to remove, without changing anything except the feel of the game. To say its impossible to remove all potentially offensive content from Skyrim is correct, but irrelevant to the matter at hand. And trust me, without the gore, Skyrim is still a very awesome game. You may prefer to have it included, and that's fine with me, but removing it does not break the game.
-
There are several mods out already that remove blood. Removing swearing would be extremely difficult- you would have to edit all the sound files in the game. Skyrim doesn't have much swearing though, which is good in my mind. So far, the only sexual stuff I've noticed is when you loot bodies. Clips of girls in bikinis on Fox News are more suggestive than that. The one thing to look out for is the finishing moves. Some would find those violent. Personally, I think its no more violent than a PG13 movie (Lord of the Rings, for instance). The one I don't like is the decapitation one. So far as I know, that only comes up if you choose a particular perk. Don't pick the perk, and don't worry about it. bDisableAllGore=1 is an .ini tweak that someone mentioned. This is the biggest reason why I'm posting here despite the thread being a few weeks old. Don't be fooled by the "all gore" part- it simply removes blood. It does nothing to the decapitation move, and nothing to the random bodies and body parts you find occasionally around the game. Fortunately, the random bodies are fewer and less gory than what was found in Fallout 3, but there are still some around.

NVSE Is not working correctly
Taejang007 replied to yaik7a's topic in Fallout New Vegas's Mod Troubleshooting
EDIT: I made a stupid mistake and got it working.
