  1. You have checked that you are not in windowed mode? Options - mode - windowed
  2. I always play off line, so it does not update
  3. You do not want to reinstall unless you have to. Game patches are not made with the intention that end users need to reinstall the whole game every time. However you have already said that your game may be a little mucked up with some modding. So the choice is all down to you. I would run the repatched game and see how it runs, doing nothing more unless I really have to. Do not forget to install the updated FVSE if your mods require it. Personnally I am not installing the new patch. I am satisfied with NV as it currently is for now at least (pre patch) and have all my mods running smoothly so why change anything
  4. Now Skevitj that is a very useful answer to the problem. I think you deserve Kudos for that. Thanks
  5. Name: ME - folks did not live long enough to teach ME my name Gender:F Race:Unknown - possibly Sucubuss Age: Not sure - reached puberty about ten years ago I think Combat Styles: Guns Specialties: Really social type - party animal until those guns come out Weakness: Like seeing Gecko's holding their heads, shortly before I grill them for dinner, always makes me feel guilty Likes: Looking good in some sad victims gear Dislikes: Ghoul breath and saliva in my face - reacts with the makeup Want's: To have a clean bath without cooking slowly Fear's: Having Doc Mitchells baby - did anything really happen while he was patching me up - I've had a funny rash ever since? Friendlies and Enemies: Maybe Doc Mitchell on both counts - do not remember too much but keep going back to him for another fix Companions: No, cannot be arsed dragging them around with me Parents: Unknown Early life: Brought up by a kind doctor in Goodsprings who apparently found me one day eating daddies arm Teen/Adult: No comment How'd they become said courier?: Doc Mitchell said i was old enough to do a paper round and it took off from there.
  6. Personally for me, Oblivion, Fallout 3 and New Vegas all ran sweet with standard patches. Played all three vanilla for hours (usually through main quest first) without any problems. They only went AWOL when I started playing with modifications. I am a mod freak and eventually enhance every game but expect and accept glitches until I bottom out any problems.
  7. In the absence of any other advice from folk who may be able to put their finger on your problem. Assuming that if you have the latest Steam patch installed from yesterday then you also have the updated NVSE to go with it Assuming that the ctd occurs randomly and not in the same quest, place, action or item etc, the fact that you are encountering CTD after a couple of hours and not sooner suggests to me that it is not mod based. Have you tested/monitored and ruled out the possibility of hardware faults (graphics card) or possible faults caused by software running in the background? Check your system by running NV in vanilla and ensure there are no ctd's - real pain but I guess you need to be certain of this To check mods I can only suggest: Add mods one at a time and play long enough to check all is well or until you hit a snag Ensure each mod is installed correctly with any compatabilty patches, FOMM BOSS (which you are doing) to check load order and archieve invalidation toggled. Mods that change game weapon balance etc might be influenced by the new patch and need updating - do not know - needs verification. You probably already know all this but hope it helps anyway
  8. Do you have any other windows software running? I had crashes caused by a screensaver manager. It was set to change the screensaver every 60 seconds, just enough time to get into the intro screen. Disabling the screensaver manager cured my CTD Long shot but hope this may help
  9. This can be a useful tool http://www.fallout3n...ile.php?id=4710 It enabled me to see exactly what was going on inside the big red box and yes it does work with NV
  10. unforgivencarney. You have a texture/mesh issue resulting from one of your mod installs. You can experiment with removing/reinstalling mods etc until you find the culprit and rectify the problem. If all else fails...this works http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=4710 It enabled me to see exactly what was going on inside the big red box and yes it does work with NV
  11. The site was down or at least unavailable in my neck of the woods for several hours yesterday. It came back on again mid evening GMT last night.
  12. Yeh I'm still here Wolfiefang and thanks for your advice. There is no rush for me to patch just yet especially as I have just got my mod installs to run in harmony together.. I'll hang back a while and monitor those mod boards that change weapon balance etc.
  13. I had a CTD at start up that was due to another programme running. It was a screensaver manager. When this was disabled the CTD's stopped. Hope this helps
  14. Do you have the latest steam patch update? If so this is probably the problem until GECK is updated
  15. And do not forget the BOE patch for CaliberX to make the two mods work together
