  1. I replaced the INIs with backups I made a couple months ago. Game started right up. I guess I never considered that would be the source of the problem because I knew that I had not made any edits to the INIs or installed any mods that made INI edits in a very long time. I didn't know that the updates Bethesda sends out do anything with/to the INIs. Thanks for the help. This has been boggling my mind and it feels great to have it sorted. Hi! I might have the same problem but unfortunately I don't have any backup of the INIs... If you still have both versions, could you please tell me what has been changed? It might help me to fix this. Afraid I don't have the old old files anymore, but here's a link to a folder with my current ini files. You can check to see what's different between them and what you have. Keep in mind that some of the settings are based on mods I have installed. https://www.dropbox.com/s/4ueagrexhjvrkhf/INIs.7z?dl=0 Good luck!

  3. Thanks. I just tried with all the plugins disabled. The game still didn't start. I'll try disabling every mod I have, but that will take a while. I'm curious how the INIs would have broken. I was playing the game fine one day, then the update happened over night and the next day the game would not start. I didn't make any changes to the INIs.
  4. Ever since the last game update Bethesda pushed out, FO4 has not worked. It worked just fine previously, but after the update it will not work at all. When I attempt to start the game from the desktop (either with F4SE or just with the Steam launcher) the screen will go black for a moment and then returns to the desktop. I have all the DLCs, if that is relevant. FO4Edit loads everything alright, so I don't think there's a mod conflict involved, at least not an obvious one. I have tried removing a number of mods, mostly relating to the UI as I know previous updates of the game didn't like those. I also tried removing Fallout4.exe and having Steam reacquire the file. The only other thing I can think to try is the nuclear option: remove all mods and reinstall the game. I would really rather not do this as it will likely take me at least a week to get the game set up with all the mods again. Has anyone else had trouble with the latest update or just had this problem in the past and managed to fix it? Thank you for any advice you can send my way.
  5. Similar problem to everyone else, though my CTDs are not limited to housing or DH. Yes, I do get a nearly 100% crash rate when entering Breezehome and a slightly lesser crash rate when entering/exiting other homes, but I am getting the problem elsewhere as well. For instance, I've had CTDs when moving between the Ragged Flagon and the Thieves Guild Cistern. Really, any door that requires a loading screen has a good chance of causing a CTD for me. There doesn't seem to be much of a time element involved, except that I almost never get a crash if I've just loaded up the game in the last few minutes. Seems as with everyone else this is a 1.5 issue. I was one of the lucky ones who almost never had a glitch in the game prior to this patch, even when the game was first released.
  6. After this latest patch, I seem to get a CTD about 85% (approximate) of the time when I enter Breezehome. CTDs are also common when entering Dovakhiin Hideout from anywhere else, though not as common. Also, some Thieves Guild quest markers seem to be off (Haelga's Bunkhouse in Riften), but I don't know if this was an issue before or not (Numbers Job quest, marker and book not lining up at all).
  7. I'm sure this has been discussed before, but I've spent the last half hour looking and couldn't find the answer I need. I'm somewhat new to modding and still need some help, so... I use OBMM to install mods. If I have a mod installed and a fix for that mod comes out that includes along with the data files an esp with the same name as the original mod esp, do I overwrite the old esp, or try to incorporate the new new data files into the original OMOD, or what? I'm sure this is a simple answer and I do appreciate anyone taking the time to answer me. Thank you.
