  1. Technology can give you a very strong advantage, that is as long as you dont meet guerilla-based armies... (Vietnam, Cuba, Korea )

In theory, we should be able to kill them before they see us, correct? IE in Iraq there were a dozen (give or take) tanks waiting for us on the road into Baghdad. We spotted them a LONG way off and destroyed them before they had a snowballs chance in hell.

That's what I like about our(USA) Army. It's when we try to KEEP control of things when people start dieing, like the situation is now in Iraq. :(

I just wish the whole thing would end and our guys could come back home :rip:

  2. I know he created all the languages and everything, but he borrowed heavily from myths and legends. I'm not saying he was a talentless hack but you made it sound like he created everything fantasy.

He just revived it and gave it more popularity than it had. You just took what I said too extreme. And yes I have read the Lord of the Rings and two different biographies.

  3. Peregrine has this irritating way of posting my thoughts that can't go into words....

And Snafu too. Is it really just to say that D&D blatantly copied off of Tolkien's work when Tolkien himself wasn't that original anyway?

Did anyone play the original Final Fantasy? That was a japanese RPG. In Final Fantasy, you could only use spells once before you had to rest. They adopted that from D&D, which was American.

  4. If it wasn't for Dungeons & Dragons, a clearly bastardized version of Tolkiens world...

Actually, Cailwyn, I believe Gygax (the creator of D&D waay back when) said that while he read Tolkien's books, they definately didn't have a heavy influence.

Just a "so ya know" type of thing.

    :)

  5. Steve, you mean you want us to travel around Upper-Earth while solving quests for the people of Grondar and Zohan?

I have a suggestion, although not a great one:

Rather than releasing ALL of ME, why not just release landmass mods that will be plopped down next to Vvardenfell?

I know, it's far from what any wanted, but Middle-earth is so dear to me(and apparently EVERYONE here) that if we can't have the hole thing, why not the best parts?

  6. The only good I can see from this is the release of all the info that was hidden from us over the years. :)

Have you given much thought into what you wonderful people could put your talent to use at? Maybe a different mod for Morrowind, or an entirely different game? You guys are blessed with some kickass skills, and I just don't want them to go to "waste", for lack of a better word.

Anyway, in my opinion the best thing that happened to MEmod was Suz taking over. Thanks for whatever good you did for us, Suz.

  7. rant

This would be a valid response if this thread was in the "Debates" section, but it isn't.

Our answers are based on our opinions. My opinion(shared with A_D apparently) is that Deus Ex and Half-life are the best games ever. If I was asked to support my opinion(which I really shouldn't have to) with "why" then I would say this:

Deus Ex- I like the cyberpunk 'future but not too far into the future' setting, the characters like Alex Jacobson and Jock, the high replay value as there were multiple ways to get through a given situation (save 1 or 2 situations) and the level design (the undersea base, forgot the name, being one of my favorites). Plus, the storyline was brilliant.

Half-Life- the multiplayer, mods mostly, were great and fresh (for the time). I spent countless hours playing the 2fort map in Team Fortress Classic. The singleplayer was just as brilliant as the multiplayer.

There wasn't much to it, just go from one area to the next and kill everything in between, but the way it was presented was spectacular.

It was seamless, for the most part with quick 3 second loading times in between maps, but sometimes I got such a feeling of lonliness when I was up against a million marines and had like, 10 bullets left. Then there was a good feeling when I came upon a room filled with ammo.

Both games offer great experience, but Darnoc, don't try and prove are opinions wrong, because they are exactly that, OPINIONS.
