  1. I have 0 knowledge of how to use the Toolset for anything outside of making morphs. Could anyone let me know how I'd go about editing the stats of a custom armour? I've got about as far as opening the .erf in the Toolset, and the armour that I want to edit is just one of a bunch of others contained in that .erf (which was actually contained within a .dazip). Any pointers would be much appreciated. All I want to do is edit the stats of the armour to give it more useful attributes for rogues, e.g. increased dexterity/chance to dodge. Many thanks.

Disclaimer: I don't want to redistribute it. I just want the armour for personal use.

  2. I don't know anything about the Steam version of the game, so sorry if you've tried everything I'm about to say. You could locate the daorigins.exe (I don't know its location when the game is installed through Steam), right-click it and select Properties. Then at the end of the field called Target, add the " -enabledeveloperconsole". If you can't find the daorigins.exe, search for it under the Start menu.

I can't tell if you're trying to say that in Steam you don't have a keybindings.ini file. If you didn't mean that, maybe it would be worth changing the key that is used to open the console. You can do this with that file. It would never work with tilde for me. I think it has something to do with different keyboards. Locate the keybindings.ini file in Documents/Bioware/Dragon Age/Settings and open it. Find the line OpenConsole_0 and change what it says after the = to Keyboard::Button_F1 or something similar. This will mean that the console will be opened with F1 instead of tilde. Your keybindings.ini file may be located somewhere other than Documents/Bioware/Dragon Age/Settings in Steam. If so, I'm sorry that I can't help you more.

Again, my profuse apologies if none of this applies to you because you run the game through Steam, or if you know all this and have tried it already. Just thought I'd tell you what I know on the off-chance that it might help you. :)

  3. Hello there. I am a little confused as to why DAO seems to want to install in C:/Games/Dragon Age/ by default. I installed the game on the same disk last year and it installed to C:/Program Files/Dragon Age/ yet I am now attempting to reinstall it and it keeps trying to install to this odd location. If I try 'express installation' I can change the location it installs in but I must create a Dragon Age folder in Program Files to install the game in. This has caused a problem where the game will hardly ever start. I've tried the .exe and the shortcut created in installation that loads the thingy with the picture of the mage woman. I try to launch the game and in task manager I can see that the process has began, but it stops soon. The only way I can get it to launch is if I try to run the .exe in compatibility mode for Windows XP SP2, but even then it only works some of the time. It feels as if it decides to start randomly as there is no apparent reason for it not to launch. I believe this problem is linked to the fact that I change the game's installation to C:/Program Files/Dragon Age/ when it wants to install to C:/Games/Dragon Age/. If I don't change it, I can't access the bin_ship folder which I need for daupdater.exe and the original .exe so that I can launch it from there. I might not be making any sense, but if anybody knows why it wants to install to this strange directory I would be grateful for any information.

    I am running Windows 7 32 bit.

  4. I am at my wits' end with this and I'm so darn fed up with all these time-consuming reinstallations.

I'm posting here because I've tried everywhere else and still I've found no working solution, even on the Wiki. I'm hoping to God somebody here will be able to help me and if so, I would be eternally grateful. Seriously, I'm so tired of this. I just want to make pretty elves.

On my first installation of the toolset, I tried to install the SQL server 2005 as part of the built-in installer and the database creating part failed so I got the "unable to connect to database" fail message on startup of the toolset. Then I uninstalled SQL server 2005 fully using Revo uninstaller to remove leftover registry items etc, and reinstalled SQL server 2005 about 3 times, each time getting the database connection failure error. So I uninstalled it again and found a walkthrough on these forums which instructed me to get the 2008 version and service pack 1. (the post by nezroy, about half way down the page: http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/177587-toolset-help-required/) The guide then instructed me to fire up SQL Management Studio, which I didn't have. I don't know if the guide assumed it installed alongside the other programs, or what. But I didn't have it. So I installed it with much kerfuffling and difficulty, and started it up. I couldn't connect to the database in the Management Studio, and the toolset still won't start. Call me persistent as the number of times I have reinstalled each of these programs now due to them not working for some reason or another is just getting ludicrous now. If ANYBODY can get the toolset to work for me I would shower them in love and praise and thanks and niceness.

    Additional info.:

    OS: Windows 7, 32 bit

    Logged into administrator account.

Logs in the SQL program folder thing say some stuff about stuff and numbers and words and then this at the end "2013-06-12 16:15:04.78 spid7s SQL Server is terminating in response to a 'stop' request from Service Control Manager. This is an informational message only. No user action is required." I don't know if this means anything to anyone.

Also, bear in mind my computer skills are tragic. I don't even know what SQL server does.

    Many thanks.

Edit: I thought it would be relevant to mention that I once had toolset installed and working perfectly on this computer in the past. I did have to do some kerfuffling about with SQL servers and blah blah computer stuff, but it worked. Then I uninstalled Dragon Age and the toolset and now, about a year later, I'm trying to reinstall it.
