Can't start the game and when i do the game would crash after character creator....

I am looking for someone to help me out how to partially mod my skyrim special edition, i understand practically nothing about it and every time i try is confusing... When it comes to modding i am a total ass noob if someone can help me out let me know please... I am not looking for a lot of mods mostly just a few things like to make people look better, companions, weapons and armor mods nothing more...
