  1. It wasn't the minimum vs recommended; I've seen two 'official' sets of recommended, one with 512MB and one with 1GB. Obviously one of them is old or incorrect. I have DDR5 though, and I play at 1440X900 because it's my monitor's native. I'm not certain if my 768MB will be able to maz the textures at that resolution, even with DDR5. Hmm....

I suppose antialiasing also uses VRAM?

  2. I don't know what a wereshrak is.

Also, Greenland is surrounded by cold waters.

Plus, there's a special topic for this.

well, dont keep if from me xD come on, tell me what this special place is? I mean this is general discussion, and this is a general discussion of weresharks in skyrim. and im sure there is some ice near greenland.

The special places are 'mod talk' or 'mod requests'.

  3. "M'aiq has heard rumors of dark souls to the south killing many people. M'aiq hears that dying is not very fun. M'aiq does not know why so many people want to die; dragons do enough killing for M'aiq."
  4. "M'aiq does not know why people want greaves separate from chestplates. You want to pay more gold to protect yourself? Silly people. M'aiq does not understand them. Probably because they are idiots."

"Crimes are not reported by chickens. M'aiq thinks people who hear chickens speak should be hit with something."

"M'aiq almost starved once. It was horrible; not fun at all. M'aiq does not know why so many confused people want to starve."

"Boats? The wooden tombs that are cramped, dark, and prone to sinking? M'aiq thinks boats are stupid."

"Has anyone ever worn armor without anything beneath? M'aiq does not think this is realistic at all. It chafes terribly. M'aiq thinks these people are bad at the excuse making."

  5. I play stealthily for three reasons:

    A) It's extremely fun, and rare among games

    B) I've wanted an open-ended stealth game since 2006, and Oblivion almost fulfilled that

    C) I'm actually quite interested in botanical stuff and stealth/archery in real life (though, fortunately, not assassinating people, lol)

  6. Stealth forever, because I love the feeling of drawing the bow, leading my target, compensating for drop, and with a twang of my bow, my enemy falls. Then all his friends run around like chickens with their heads cut off, and I charge from the shadows as a spectre of death, my poisoned dagger ready for some backstabbing! It's art.
  7. It's freeware, so it's probably just polite to ask permission. Plus, I doubt any sites would host your mods if you stole things. I'd ask permission whether I was planning on republishing or not, but for personal use I doubt anyone would take offense. Best to be safe though. That's my two cents.
  8. An agility of 30 is doing most of the damage to your build; since you use melee weapons you won't be hitting much with that (I'm sure you've noticed) Everything else looks pretty solid for your level. There's not much you can do about that now, aside from increasing agility when you level. It's possible to have enemies outlevel you and fall more and more behind if you don't pick skills you actually use when you level as well. I remember I tried a melee build for a while but kept levelling the intelligence because I didn't want my character to seem dumb. It didn't work at all; that's actually the entire reason why I became a mage (lol).

Don't worry, once you level up a few times and find at least one good weapon it gets easier. Also, I don't think anyone really uses hand to hand.

If you're having trouble affording (or finding) a nice weapon, and if you haven't tried this already, raid every single crate and vase in Balmora. You don't need 99% of the stuff in there, but usually I find at least one enchanted weapon the first time I enter Balmora. You should also probably join the mage's guild if you haven't already; you don't even need to do the quests, but certain people will enchant things for you. You need a filled soul gem though, like in Oblivion. You can also get an iron sparksword about twenty meters away from Seyda Neen along the main path. Sorry if you knew all of that already.

If you haven't done the story quest in Balmora for Caius Crosades (with the dwemer puzzle box), it's basically required. It's almost impossible to explore that place without finding some dwarven weapons and a lot of gems to sell, and there are only a few enemies in the first few areas, plus they're supposed to be weak for first-time players.

What else... Ah yes; enchanted rings are your friends. If you find a magic amulet/ring/etc that has a destruction spell, don't sell it. They'll nearly always hit, so they're good if you just can't seem to get somebody's health down at a low level. Scrolls are good for that too.

  9. Hey guys, I have played Oblivion before, but never Morrowind. I have setup Morrowind Overhaul and that works.

Can anyone give me advice on how to fight? I am getting my ass] kicked by the rats in the first fighters guild job :) I see combat isn't like Oblivion, seems there's like a dice roll whenever I attack to determine hits?

Also, I hear it's easy to mess up by selling/dropping quest items. Are there any mods to prevent this mistake?

    Thanks.

I'm newer as well, but not quite as new so I guess I'll try giving advice. There is a dice roll type thing, btw. For one thing, you could try to download an 'always hit' mod that makes every hit have a 100% chance for you and for enemies.

If you play with vanilla combat (like I do), focus on agility. Higher agility equals a lesser chance of being hit and a greater chance to hit. Also, try to find a weapon that fortifies either agility or the skill of the weapon type you're using. You may also be able to custom enchant an item to fortify your agility.

Spells almost always hit if your intelligence is decent, so that's something else to think about.

If you already have a character you don't want to get rid of, if you list me your stats I might be able to tell you why rats are able to kill you.

On an unrelated note, you may want to look up 'First Person Enhanced'. It's really a cool mod and it's a lot easier to install than I thought. I'm not certain it's compatible with the Overhaul though.

  10. When you take a companion into combat, when their health reaches zero, they should fall unconscious. Enemies should then ignore the unconscious person. Every couple seconds, their health drops by one point. If their health gets to negative ten, they die forever. If you heal them to positive health or revive them (or something similar), they get back up with a bit of health and return to normal.

However this can be made to work, even if it's less literal (like just having them fall unconscious and then die based on a timer unless a certain spell is cast), it would be awesome.

  11. I want a sniper bow of some kind. It would be awesome.

Though I like regular bow sniping too. Poison arrow, 3X stealth modifier (in Oblivion, idk what they'll do in Skyrim), aim ten feet above the head with amazing skill, lead the target, and with a lethal thwang the arrow destroys those poor bandits.

  12. Don't get me started on those warhammers in Oblivion...

-nobody could even lift them if they were real

-their bulk makes them look silly

That's all I'm going to say about that.

I don't know why everyone thought the combat was so terrible; I was blocking and leaning out of the way of attacks all the time. The spells were bad though. It was like fighting an aimbot.

  13. It'd be ideal if they went the D&D route. When a companion falls unconcious they revive as long as you take the time to revive them. If you leave them unconcious for too long, or if enemies find them while still unconcious and attack them more, they die. Unconscious people would die when their hp gets to -100 or whatever size of numbers Skyrim uses for health.

Actually, that sounds like a great mod! Somebody wanna' make that for me?

  14. For a game that's all about immersion, the combat is stiff and awkward. They could have at least added some sort of reaction animation when your foe is being stabbed in the eyeball. It's like they're pent up on pcp and crack; they feel no pain.

BUT, for a few of the flaws, I am incredibly excited for the game and cannot wait for its release!! Everything else (besides combat reactions and some odd, gliding walking animations) looks great! It looks incredibly complex to the point of almost being a turnoff when I only have an hour or less to play. I can't immerse myself in an Elder Scrolls game unless I have an afternoon/evening to play. That's why in going on 3 years, I'm still playing Oblivion and just hit the 100 hour mark.

On the other hand, would anyone really be moving much if they were stabbed with a sword in the head? (lol) I've seen quite a few combat reactions actually; animals staggering when you hit them; bandits slewing back clutching their throat; trolls recoiling in pain; etc. It's during executions that animations rarely play (aside from crumpling to the ground, obviously) , and that's probably because it's a fast insta-kill. Of course, not every strike gets an overt response, but on at least 90% of the hits I've seen, a humanoid enemy will react somehow to your hit.

  15.

I could go on for pages honestly .. Bethesda makes games that no other company today can even come close to making .. and to try and say they are anything less than godly in what they have accomplished just makes me think you don't know what your talking about .. Would you rather have them lock off the world and be more polished? .. maybe you should concider a job in hollywood instead of game design .. that seems to be what uncharted is going for.

    Yay. Somebody gets it.

  16. I know, they don't get it. In Solitude in Skyrim, a guy is going to be executed. I'm assuming at some point in an Uncharted game, somebody dies as well, yes?

Well in that town in Skyrim, I fully plan on bow-sniping the executioner before he kills the guy. Then I'll run up, recruit the dude, and escape. This escape will work because the night before, I will have poisoned all the guards' food. We will then travel to a town that hates the first town, and the guy will live! And that will all be non-scripted.

And Skyrim will be loaded with moments like this, where you can literally pick any side you want and make it as complex and awesome as you want.

Can you do that in Uncharted? No? Well, we should be able to expect more from modern AAA games, shouldn't we? *rolls eyes again*

I want to create an open-ended siege in the Witcher 2 when I annoy all the guards and flee to a hostile town. What? I can't do that in the Witcher? That kind of depth is only in Skyrim? How disappointing.

  17. Repetition is generally bad, but just because a similar key shows up in a couple dungeons doesn't mean everything is duped. Oblivion only had one kind of key after all, and Morrowind didn't really have anything like that either.
  18. If you're disappointed that the polish isn't what it could be on Skyrim, I'm disappointed that Uncharted and The Witcher aren't open world. Really, in this day and age, we should be able to hold games to a higher quality, and if Uncharted doesn't offer open-ended, open-world adventuring then I'm very disappointed. *rolls eyes*
  19. I have a new GPU, as some of you may already know. My psu is just horrible, and it's going to cause big problems if I run anything that puts my GPU under stress. I need a new psu that can support this stuff:

AMD Phenom II x4 at 3.2Ghz

    GTX 460 768MB GC

My maximum price is $130, but less is preferred. I've looked myself, but I can't figure out what I should be looking for or what price range I should be in, and I'm worried about overpaying. What do you think is the best deal for a reliable psu?
