  1. Exactly. It all depends on the specific mod.
  2. The PS4 is equivalent to a GTX 650 TI, 8GB DDR3 RAM, and AMD FX-8320 at 2.5Ghz. It's absolutely underwhelming, and the Xbox One is weaker still.
  3. In case it wasn't clear, btw, the 2GB 760 will be a better option for cost/performance ratio than the 4GB version.
  4. Some mods only work properly if you have the enabled when you start a new game. There's no "golden rule".
  5. All ENBs pretty much use the same underlaying code. They'll perform similarly, the only way to really optimize them is to turn effects off or make them much lower quality. There are a few ENBs where people have actually re-written some of the methods of drawing effects, but they don't really have better performance either. My advice: Don't use an ENB. If you *do* use an ENB, make sure to disable depth of field and sky lighting. Probably best to disable sunrays as well, if you can tolerate it. Those three things have massive performance impacts for relatively minor effects. Also, if you use an ENB you can safely disable all antialiasing in the Skyrim launcher.
  6. That game... Is not nearly as impressive graphically as the trailers and pre-release screens suggested. Running at 720p now is abysmal. You need to stay at native TV resolutions for the system to look good... Microsoft and Sony both need to learn this. 30 fps at 1080p native will always look better than 60 fps at 720p subsampled. Even just 1360x768 would have helped so much last generation. :/ The PS4 looks about equivalent in power to a GTX 650 TI. The Xbone looks equivalent to a GTX 550 TI. Pretty pathetic really, considering these console are supposed to last 5-10 years. Sony and Microsoft claimed they'd both be setting standards of 1080p, 60 fps, 4x MSAA. Pffffft... Let's be realistic. It'll only be a couple years before they're both just using MLAA or FXAA at 30-45 fps, while the PS4 is at adaptive 1080p and the Xbone is at 1360x768 in every game. Just like last generation they shot for 1080p, missed, dropped to 720p, still missed, and went to 1024x720 and called it 720p for marketing. Even as low as 1024x540 in a couple games, which is barely better than the PS2's resolution. Also, the consoles *should* be using 8x Anisotropic Filtering, but they seem to be hung up on 4x. Old habits die hard, I guess, because AF on reasonably modern hardware is such a small hit there's no way they *can't* run 8x. Don't get me started on the mistake called the Vita... It has only 1/2 the memory and 2/3 the speed of the PS3, yet they decided to give it a native resolution of about 600p.????? Of course developers are subsampling on the Vita now. Which is pathetic, because subsampling looks horrid and 600p is needlessly high of a native resolution for a screen that small considering the original PSP was 272p. They should have just gone 854x480 for a native res on the OLED screen, so they'd have extra performance to play around with. It'd still be close to a retina display. Now they have to scramble for performance, waste memory, and subsample on a system that expects your face to be 8 inches from the screen. Terrible design decisions all around. You never subsample a handheld, it's pretty much common sense....
  7. You need to get rid of the ENB. If that doesn't help enough, get rid of WATER as well. Those are what's mainly hurting your framerate. Mostly the ENB though. That laptop only has an HD 4000 series integrated graphics chip, it's not really meant for gaming. There are no tweaks that're going to make good performance possible with a good ENB on that laptop. Imo, that "I Can't Believe It's Not An ENB" mod looks worse than vanilla as well...

    PSP Games

Already checked, the Vita isn't getting any games I want. Except for Resistance Burning Skies, and it's not worth it for one game. If I want to play Borderlands 2 I can do that on my PC.
  9. Steam will automatically update Skyrim fully, provided you have a legitimate copy and have not turned off automatic updates. Doesn't matter if you got it from Steam or a store, it's still a Steam game and Steam will assume direct control. The version will be listed on the lower-left corner of the pause menu in Skyrim, if I remember correctly. I'm not sure about Steam backups, I just copy a folder when I need to back something up.

    PSP Games

I know the original PSP is an extremely dated system now (I think it's 9 years old now?), but I still play it and I'm looking for games. When people list good games for the PSP online, the same five everyone knows about get repeated over and over again. Chains of Olympus, Monster Hunter, Resistance Retribution, etc. And if people list "hidden gems" it's just Valkyria Chronicles and Patapon over and over again. I *know* there are more good games for the PSP, since I've played and seen a lot of them. PSP games I like include: Untold Legends: Brotherhood of the Blade (not the sequel, which was much worse) Rengoku 2 Star Wars Battlefront: Elite Squadron Monster Hunter Freedom Unite Bounty Hounds Coded Arms LittleBigPlanet Phantasy Star Portable I'm looking for games with replayability, if they exist. For example, Monster Hunter is huge, Rengoku 2 is made for multiple playthroughs, Untold Legends is quite big and also meant for multiple playthroughs, Bounty Hounds has randomly generated levels, Coded Arms has randomly generated levels, LittleBigPlanet has player created levels, etc. So far my search has resulted in me finding Ultimate Ghosts n' Goblins as well as Medievil Resurrection, but little else. Are there any games I haven't seen yet for the PSP that are replayable or quite big, and offer direct control of the player character? I'm mostly looking for shooters, platformers, arpgs, etc. Just not turn based games or puzzle games.
  11. Okay, well, assuming midi means mid, and that ohne NT means no PSU... :3 And assuming that 10mm=1cm, and that 1 inch=2.54cm... It's not really a complex task to get a case. Some are nicer than others, or ship with quieter fans or USB 3.0, but generally as long as everything fits without having to bend it you're all set. Any of these would be good options, depending on what kind of aesthetic you want to go for and how much you want to spend. Since they support ATX motherboards, you should also be able to get a full size motherboard eventually instead of the small one you have, if you want to at some point. http://www.mindfactory.de/product_info.php/CoolerMaster-N400-mit-Sichtfenster-Midi-Tower-ohne-Netzteil-schwarz_916999.html http://www.mindfactory.de/product_info.php/Raidmax-Super-Aeolus-mit-Sichtfenster-Midi-Tower-ohne-Netzteil-schwarz_936358.html (might need to add an additional fan if you notice it running hot) http://www.mindfactory.de/product_info.php/CoolerMaster-K380-mit-Sichtfenster-Midi-Tower-ohne-Netzteil-schwarz_822211.html (might need to add an additional fan if you notice it running hot) http://www.mindfactory.de/product_info.php/NZXT-Lexa-S-Midi-Tower-ohne-Netzteil-schwarz_619661.html http://www.mindfactory.de/product_info.php/Antec-Three-Hundred-Midi-Tower-ohne-Netzteil-schwarz_427619.html http://www.mindfactory.de/product_info.php/Zalman-Z9-Plus-Midi-Tower-ohne-Netzteil-schwarz_688989.html If you plan to look for a different case, make sure it supports ATX motherboards (it'll make upgrading later much easier for several reasons), has a width of at least 190mm, and is listed as a mid-tower with no PSU. USB 3.0 support is ideal, but by no means required.
  12. Uhm, well, barely, but it runs! But thanks a lot, both of you, this really helped me a lot. So I guess I've decided on the GTX 760 2GB (still unsure about whether to choose Gigabyte or EVGA, tending towards the Gigabyte Windforce one though) and that XFX Core Edition PSU. The thing is, I want to order all of that stuff from an online shop based in the country I live in, and I couldn't find any of those cases you recommended there. Any recommendations on how to decide which one I should take? I don't think that's gonna help you at all, but my current case is pretty small: Height: 36.8cm (14.4")Width: 16.5cm (6.4")Depth: 38.9cm (15.3") Gigabyte is generally the better choice for cooling, they're well known for that. Since the performance difference is so small, you'd therefore be better off going for the Gigabyte version that Werne suggested. Yeah, you'll almost certainly need a new case at that size. Chances are your video card wouldn't fit. Do you have a link to the online shop you're using?
  13. Ì've heared of this mod. Will it also tell me what order I should load the mods in and does it work with the Nexus installer or should I use 1 or the other? BOSS isn't really a mod, it's a program that works for several games. Once you run BOSS, it will automatically change the load order of most of your mods correctly. It won't affect small mods that it doesn't know about. I'm not sure whether it works on mods you installed with the Nexus Mod Manager, but it does work with mods in the Nexus Mod Manager that you installed manually. Hopefully someone who uses the Mod Manager more can clarify whether BOSS also works on mods installed with the Nexus Mod Manager. SMIM and Better Dynamic Snow need to be installed in a certain order to work with each other. I think it gives instructions on the Better Dynamic Snow mod description page. The Unofficial patch isn't a "must have" imo, but it's been tested for years now to make sure it doesn't have bugs or dirty edits, so it should be safe to install and it does help a lot of things. if you use the Official HD DLC, you'll also need this. The Unofficial High Resolution Patch really is necessary for the HD DLC, otherwise you get like purple textures and whatnot in a few places. http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/31255/? I don't have any experience with Climates of Tamriel. The screens never looked very impressive to me compared to vanilla. :s
  14. That and a lot of other gameplay and design elements that SHOULD have been in the game before it sold. Like the choice to destroy the Theives Guild and Maven Black Brair for those "evil cleanser" type players. And the choice to reject quests so they don't clutter your journal forever. And NPCs that can navigate a hill without getting stuck on a tree.
  15. All excellent suggestions, as well. Buy yeah, 4GB of VRAM is nearly useless. I only recommended that because *technically* Skyrim can use 3GB of RAM, meaning 3GB is also mirrored into VRAM on DX9. People claim to get performance returns from above 2GB on a 760 when they use ridiculous amounts of HD textures in Skyrim. Not sure if it's true, but that was also one of the only overclocked 760s I could find so I suggested it. The 760 you recommended would almost certainly perform better.
  16. Yep. They definitely didn't put as many AI packages in for Skyrim. I suppose they figured players wouldn't notice for long enough for the game to sell tons of copies. :s On the bright side, they did put a lot more effort into the NPCs you interact with on a regular basis, like Serana, Mjoll, etc... I'd like to see a return to the scrapped Radiant AI of Oblivion. Not on *every* NPC, because that would be buggy and random. But it'd be nice to see, for example, all the vanilla marriage and follower options get a lot more AI packages, and to see them explore on their own sometimes.
  17. The ROG MARS has only moderate lead over a stock Titan, so I imagine a Black Edition Titan would outperform it, (albeit for double the price). It'd outperform a 780 TI as well despite costing the same amount, since a 780 TI is just a bit faster than a Titan. The main drawback to the MARS, despite the fact that it offers the highest performance relative to the cost, is that being two cards in one (like a 690) it takes two slots and will generate a pretty massive amount of heat.
  18. http://promotions.newegg.com/vga/14-0084/index.html?cm_sp=Homepage_MidRight-_-vga%2f14-0084-_-http%3a%2f%2fpromotions.newegg.com%2fvga%2f14-0084%2f300_250.jpg&icid=230719 It outperforms a Titan, and for a lower cost. I wish I had $700 to spend on a video card right now. :3
  19. Your RAM is fine, your CPU is fine, your motherbord is meh but it'll do well enough. I'm going to make two plans. First is assuming you want to spend $300 on everything, second is assuming you want to spend $300 just on the video card. First plan: $340 This video card will run vanilla Skyrim on ultra at 50-60 fps at 1080p. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130826 This PSU will be enough for a mid-range card. I wouldn't try to put a GTX 770 SC on it or anything though. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817438014 This case is plain but highly reliable and has enough space. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811129042 Second plan: $510 This'll run Skyrim on ultra at 60 fps, should handle ENB well enough. It's probably 25% stronger than the cheaper card, and it will handle HD textures much better. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130949 This PSU is a slight bump up, just to be safe. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139020 This case is excellent, and offers a lot of room for upgrades later. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811139010 Ofc, you could mix and match any parts from those two plans. But I don't necessarily recommend using the weaker power supply with the stronger video card. I mean, it'd probably work... But you don't really want to take undue risks with the PSU. As far as cases are concerned, you're really just looking for a mid tower with ATX support rather than micro ATX, to ensure you have enough space for a good PSU and video card.
  20. I avoided Bioshock Infinite, because based on the videos and reviews I saw it was like Dishonored, but without any of the great parts of Dishonored. :s
  21. This is a creepily sadistic thread. Reminds me of the kill kids mods, but the motivation is sadism instead of realism.
  22. Why can't you get Battlefront 2 on PC? I think it's like $10 on Steam. Personally I would recommend Star Wars Battlefront: Elite Squadron on the PSP. Imho, it's the best of the Battlefronts and includes a lot of what was supposed to be in Battlefront 3, like linked ground and space battles, higher unit counts, and a more polished campaign. The first Star Wars Battlefront was probably what got me addicted to gaming. I played it splitscreen with my brother all the time.
  23. Serana's not lying, her vampire status is removed. Modders can tell from the CK. However, Bethesda was just too lazy to replace her eyes afterwards.
  24. Is it illegal, and will the games still work for the person who buys them? :3 I have several PC games I've barely played cluttering up my shelves, and I don't want them but it seems like a waste to throw them out. I've already sold most of my console games that I no longer want, but I'm still wondering what to do with my PC games. However, I won't sell them if it's illegal, and I obviously can't sell them if they won't work for the person who buys them due to DRM or whatever. I'm looking at selling a boxed edition of The Witcher 2, additionally containing the soundtrack and game guide. Also, Neverwinter Nights Complete, including a map and discs for all DLC for NWN1 and NWN2. Also, Black Ops 2. (Steam linked this to my account even though it's the disk version. :/) Also Battlefield 3. (Origin linked this to my account as well) I'd need to make sure that would actually work though... Like I said, I don't want to do anything illegal or rip someone off by selling them a game that's already been activated and can't be used again. Any advice? Sorry if that was a stupid question, I've never tried to sell PC games before, as I never had a reason. Now the games I don't play are just going to be clutter when I move though. So I'm left with the option of either selling them or tossing them.
  25. That performance seems pretty normal for a 680. ENB is badly optimized. :/ Well, since your CPU and RAM aren't the problem, multithreading tweaks and memory tweaks aren't going to help much. You may want to post a list of your mods, there might be some options to increase performance that wouldn't lose much graphical quality. As you have an Nvidia card, you should check to make sure: 1. That you're not forcing extra antialiasing in your drivers 2. That power management is set to prefer maximum performance Also, I don't know how ENB handles Anisotropic Filtering, but anything more than 8x is a pointless loss of performance that could be better spent on literally anything else. As a quick tip, if you use SMIM, the smooth mountain option in SMIM is a pretty big performance hit for (imo) a low increase in quality. That part isn't worth having enabled, in case you have SMIM. ...Alternatively... You probably don't want to do this, but there is another option. Nvidia allows you to turn off resolution scaling. This means you could play at a lower resolution than your monitor's native res, without subsampling. However, doing this would mean you wouldn't be using your full monitor, you'd have black borders around the edges. It's probably not a good idea, but I just thought I'd point it out.
