I'm not sure about HD texture packs, but there's this at vanilla resolution: http://oblivion.nexusmods.com/mods/38204 I use it all the time as it's a great improvement over vanilla, but it's not HD.

I'm looking at a superclocked GTX 680 to be the centerpiece of a few pc upgrades I have planned. My case is a full size gaming model, and right now it has two 120mm intake fans on the side, an 80mm intake fan on the front/bottom, and an 80mm outake fan on the top/back. Current case temperatures hit about 45c while gaming under full load, with my overclocked 460 hitting 55c at its max, but a superclocked 680 is worlds ahead of my overclocked 460, so naturally I'm worried about heat. Do you think this superclocked model of 680 would require a cooling system to keep the temperatures safe? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=14-130-771&SortField=0&SummaryType=0&Pagesize=10&PurchaseMark=&SelectedRating=3&VideoOnlyMark=False&VendorMark=&IsFeedbackTab=true&Keywords=%28keywords%29 Do you think a 670 would be a better choice?

Prophet: "Will NOBODY answer the CALL?!" Me: "Why can't I just kill you???? Waaaaa!!!!!" *breaks down into tears* Valen Dreth: "Oh, look, an Imperial in the Imperial Prison. I guess they don't play favorites, huh? Your own kinsmen think you're a piece of human trash..." Me: "Joke's on you, I'm coming back in a few hours with some shrouded armor and a bruised ego." Mannimarco: "I will make you another in a long tradition of Worm Thralls, and take my time in studying you." Me: "You're Mannimarco? YOU are MANNI-****ing-MARCO?? Wth??? You're an old balding elf, I expected like bones and lava and stuff, but you're nowhere NEAR as cool as a Balrog!" >_<

I'm days away from ordering a laptop for college from Newegg, and since I was going to spend ~$600 anyway, I decided to get one that could run some of my older games. The one I'm almost certainly going to buy has these specs: Intel i3 Dual Core CPU at 2.4Ghz 4GB RAM 500GB 5400Mhz HDD GT 630m 1GB video card I was planning on mostly playing games of Morrowind's age, but looking at the specs on the 630m it appears that I'll be able to run some higher spec games as well. How do you think that would run vanilla Oblivion? Usually I assume the cpu will limit Oblivion, but that graphics card isn't very powerful, so it's possible that the 630m will be the limiting factor. Thoughts? I could buy a slightly more expensive laptop with a GT 630m 2GB, but I consider that virtually a non-factor. I'd never be able to run a game on that laptop that needs close to 2GB anyway. It also had an i5 instead of an i3, but the specs in this case are virtually identical between the two so I'm considering that another non-factor. Is there some inherent performance improvement in having an i5, or should the two be very similar, assuming equal cache sizes and virtually equal speeds? The battery life estimation on both is 4.5 hours, so we can reduce that to 3 hours or less in practical use. At this point, battery life is more critical than a 2 fps difference, so I'd especially like to hear if there's a difference in power consumption between an i3 and an i5 of equal speeds.

I really liked the expansion as a whole as well, but I'm not going to bother reaching the end again. There's no point. The meager powers and virtually nonexistant recognition do more to hurt immersion than help the game.

Race: Nord, Breton, or Imperial Why: I like to relate to my character, and those are the three closest to my ancestry and my appearance. Gender: Male, but once in a while female Why: I pick male most of the time because I want to relate to the character as much as possible. I sometimes pick female to reinforce the idea that gender doesn't determine personality. Class: Custom (focuses on Intelligence, Willpower, Alchemy, Acrobatics, and Archery) Why: I pick intelligence even though I don't use magic because I want to relate to my character. I choose willpower because I have a lot of it in real life. I pick alchemy because I like making potions and poisons in Oblivion, and because I dabble in herbalism in real life. Gathering ingredients also gives me a reason to wander the countryside staring at plants. I select acrobatics so that I can use a climbing mod more effectively, and because I like climbing and jumping around on stuff. I hate that our one natural advantage as humans (excluding intelligence) is completely absent from most rpgs! I pick archery because I once again want to relate to my character, and I'm a pretty good shot with a bow in real life. Birthsign: varies Why: There's no real world equivalent that lines up in a meaningful way. I generally just pick it for the name. For example, I might pick The Ritual if I'm feeling particularly like a heretic on the day I make the character.

I just went back to Oblivion after playing newer games. It was an emotional affair; Oblivion was one of my first rpgs and I absolutely love it. I have to say, I prefer it over the newer rpgs. Without mentioning any names, that rpg with dragons in it, and that rpg that rhymes with Thiablo Dree feel so... sticks and bubbles. I'm glad we still have Oblivion. I like that rpg with dragons, but it's just not Oblivion imo.

Simply porting the voices and distributing the mod would be illegal. Sorry... :(

Remember the first time you played oblivion ?
Rennn replied to Maddy21's topic in Oblivion's Classic Discussion
I probably stared for a good ten minutes. I was like TREES. I spent the next few hours inside the Imperial City, because the landscape was too overwhelming at the time. That was my first open-world game, and one of my first rpgs, so the freedom was intimidating. It was a few years before I could play another rpg without hating it though; after Oblivion missions and rigid quests just feel tedious. -
How did you expect flickering to show up in a screenshot?

I'm heading off to college in just over a month. My new job has terrible hours, but I'm making a pretty large amount of money, and I'm going to need a laptop. I don't really want a gaming laptop per se, as those cost too much and I'd rather stick with my desktop rig for heavy gaming. However, I definitely want the laptop to be able to run older games on low settings, such as Oblivion, Morrowind, Daggerfall, etc. I'm looking for a laptop with an actual graphics card, but it doesn't have to be very good, as I'd like the price to stay loosely around $600 and I'm not buying it for the eyecandy. Here are some options I'm considering. Please point out anything you see wrong with them, and give advice on which one(s) are best. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834215417 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834215419 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834214862 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834215411 (This is the one I'm leaning towards atm)

I'm planning on buying a notebook pc for college in the next few months. I'm not getting a gaming one because there's just no point. I'd spend more money than I did on my desktop, and it'd perform worse and have a 2 hour battery life. However, I would like to be able to play Morrowind/Daggerfall in DOSbox/other old games on it. Can someone recommend a notebook for ~$500-~$600 that's capable of playing very old games? I'd go up to ~$700 if necessary, but not more than that.

I haven't had time to check back until just now. Anyway, it's better than nothing I suppose...

I've been searching for a job for months now. Nobody's hiring. I finally got one... working 7 days a week, from 6pm to 6am, for $7.25 an hour, in a factory. That ****ing sucks, but at least now I'll actually have some money. I hate my country. I don't know if this is good or bad.

I'm out of ideas. I suppose you could enable your mods one at a time until you find out which one is causing the stutter.
-
There are some commands you can enter to change the speed, but I don't know them.

What the hell? (One Ring only, No Fortify Alchemy)
Rennn replied to Cipherthe3vil's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
The 1 ring limit has always been in Skyrim. -
I thought esps couldn't see other esps in the CK, regardless of if they're active?

Sorry if this is a resoundingly stupid question. I've heard people talk about somehow merging mods. If it's possible, this could really help me. I'm working on two large mods, but they need to be done separately because I don't want to force users into downloading both if they only want one. I was hoping to work on both mods separately, and release them separately. However, I want to use both at the same time, and they would conflict as they edit some of the same areas. I'd get trees sticking through floors and things like that. If I merged the mods, if that's even possible, would I then be able to have both mods in a single esp, so I could edit them to not conflict?

Pink textures, and possibly black textures, could be caused by a lack of RAM. You said you increased the texture resolution. That could explain why you might be running out of RAM. Try using normal resolution textures again. 2GB of RAM is really not a lot. The problem could easily be caused by having too many HD textures with that amount of RAM. RAM is different from VRAM, btw.
-
It could be, but I don't really see one that looks like it would do that. If it was, for example, Travelers of Skyrim, Civil Unrest, or maybe HD Rabbits+, I'd assume it was a problem with too many scripts being run through the cpu. I don't see any big performance decreasing mods though... Did this just start to happen after patch 1.6? I've heard that the patch can cause stutter like what you're seeing. Also, does running in windowed mode fix it? I'm not saying you'll need to run in windowed mode forever, but it's just to test for a bug. Another thing to test is to see if the problem goes away if you play the game through the original Skyrim launcher, instead of with SKSE. I've heard that the 1.6 patch caused stutter with SKSE for some people, and if that's the case you might just have to wait for a fix or another update to Skyrim or SKSE.

How much RAM do you have, and how much VRAM does your graphics card have? Also, do you know your HDD speed? Try these ini edits as well. Make sure to put them in the correct sections, and back up your inis first. Skyrim.ini [Papyrus] fUpdateBudgetMS=800 fExtraTaskletBudgetMS=800 fPostLoadUpdateTimeMS=2000 bEnableLogging=0 bEnableTrace=0 bLoadDebugInformation=0 bEnableProfiling=0 Skyrimprefs.ini [MAIN] bGamepadEnable=0

That's an Oblivion mod. ...

I'm not good at meshing, but I was just wondering if you know that Dark Souls is being released for PC in about a month and a half. I'm not trying to detract from the request or say that this armor isn't needed in Skyrim. I just thought I'd give you a heads-up in case you didn't know.
