About 5.6GB. Oblivion got up to like 10GB, so Skyrim will probably reach at least that.

I've always planned on making a few dungeons kind of like this. Idk when I'll get around to it with all the other stuff for life and Skyrim and Dark Souls I'm juggling right now.

It depends on the mod. Mods like Wars in Skyrim or mods that add a lot of people wandering around can easily decrease framerates. Likewise, graphics mods like ENB or HD textures can cause severe performance decreases. However, most mods will not affect performance much if at all. Body mods like UNP or CBBE can decrease performance in areas where there are a lot of people, like towns, simply because the new bodies use higher resolution textures and higher detail models, but even the hit from that is minor because people are such a small part of the overall landscape. If you have over a certain number of mods active, I think it's 256, then you'll see strange problems. Below that, it's the specific kinds of mods that affect performance, not their quantity.

Is your framerate capped? Capping your framerate in Skyrim below 60 seems to be inconsistent. Capping at 30 can create load times up to 10 minutes for some people, while capping at 60 or higher doesn't seem to cause issues.

The people on this thread may want to look at a program called the XL Engine, or specifically, at DaggerXL. :)

At least there are mods to fix that long respawn time... Otherwise I would seriously just go back to Oblivion. Not being able to replay dungeons would practically break a game like Skyrim.
-
The problem is I need to delete things from the Skyrim.esm, so using another esm would cause something like the ground turning invisible and everyone falling into the sky. -_- Hopefully 15MB isn't too big of an esp.

There are several packs. Ones like HD 2k are an improvement in just base resolution, but they can diminish the style in some cases. This one seems to keep the style completely intact, however. http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/5400

All he needs to do is say something about mudcrabs and I'll know he's trying to break the fourth wall.

I admit that I haven't been following this mod (I didn't know about it until just now), but I voted 'no', simply because I don't like ever having fast travel. It always seems like a good idea to use it, and later I always regret it. I know I can just decide not to use it, but just deciding not to use something doesn't help with immersion.

I've known about this for a while, but I just decided to post about it. There's a guy in Whiterun raving about Talos and the Thalmor 24/7, as I'm sure everyone knows. However, he has one quote in particular that's strange. He says this about the Thalmor: "...they can barely tolerate our presence on Earth!" He clearly says "Earth" instead of Mundus or Nirn or anything like that. I'm kind of surprised Bethesda let something that obvious into the game... thoughts?

I was recently making quite a large esp, and when I loaded it, everything freaked out. There were floating chairs, permanent lod trees etc. I'd like to know what the maximum size is for an esp, because I've heard that weird things can start to happen with very large esps. If this turns out to be the issue, is it against site rules to upload a modified Skyrim.esm? It modifies so many vanilla things I can't make a new esm, as it would cause even more problems conflicting with the Skyrim.esm.

It might be a well known bug with not capping Skyrim's framerate. I forget what it's called... the 6?Hz bug, but I don't remember the second number... Whatever, forget what I just typed, lol. Cap your framerate at 60, and see if that helps. If you want a framerate higher than 60, you can try capping it higher but I don't know if it'll work simply due to the nature of this bug and how it relates to a framerate of 60. I'm not talking about regular stutter, Skyrim has some specific framerate bug if it's not capped at certain values. Some people can run the game at upwards of 200 fps, but capping at 59 can cause stutter when capping at 60 won't. It's effed up, but I suppose it's just another thing with Skyrim's engine. I had stutter when I capped my fps at 30, and when I capped it at 60 the stutter disappeared. I don't know if this'll help you at all...

Nevermind, I don't need this done anymore. :) If an admin could lock this post, so much the better, but I suppose it doesn't matter because I doubt anyone else is going to reply anyway.

I'm afraid it's not that simple. Candles don't actually cast much light in dungeons. Most of the light comes from magical Bethesda-land and can't be removed just by removing candles. I think there are a few mods that attempt to make the dungeons darker though, and those could be used along with a new mod to physically remove candles. These are mods to remove most of the fake light from dungeons, but they still don't get rid of candles. http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/11353 http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/9856

Bumping is against the rules, btw. Yes, there's probably a way to get the face paint back. It's a lot of work to explain where to look when I'm not sure exactly what I'm looking for. I'll pm you with some information.

No "meshes" or "textures"- folders, just BSA files!
Rennn replied to BLABLEBLUB's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
It's exactly what TheFourthHorse said. If you create the meshes and textures folders (etc), Skyrim will know to look for things inside those. -
Wolves are not very impressive in the vanilla game. You'll want to split this into several mods though. For example, there are already several mods to disable fast travel without touching other kinds of travel such as cart rides. Someone would probably make the mod to increase wolf spawns on its own, which could later be integrated into something else. The rest of the changes sound worthy of a couple separate mods. I doubt someone is going to take a request like this all in one group though. Good luck with this. :)

I've seen this before, in my game actually. Do you alt+tab out of Skyrim, or enter the task manager, or press Ctrl+Alt+Delete when you play Skyrim? Those things can cause the problem ever since the grass shadow patch.

It's more likely they'll make dozens of babies in stupid circumstances and overpopulate.

My ultimate gamming laptop project thread
Rennn replied to Acebopata's topic in Hardware and software discussion
I'd go for a mini desktop case if I was in your position. I've heard that laptop components such as mobile cards are made to withstand higher temperatures. If you use a laptop case and put in regular pc parts, overheating could be a big problem. It might be safer to go for a small desktop case adapted for mobile use, and you'd certainly be able to get it a little more powerful without worrying about temperatures quite as much. Ofc it'd look strange, but it's probably more viable. If you work with a laptop case you're subjected the the same space limitations as laptops, and it'd probably cost more to build. If you managed to put in 16GB of RAM you could theoretically use an 8GB RAM disk for your most stressful game, which I imagine would keep HDD temps down as well. I'm just thinking out loud at this point, but you'd want to keep the cpu near the 'top' of the case if possible, because you don't want that resting on cloth. That can really accumulate heat. So whichever side the mobo and cpu fit into, I'd make that side the 'top'. If you're really dedicated, I've seen some people scavenge the screen from a laptop and adapt it into a very thin general gaming display, which would help keep the size down. The screen would probably need some kind of custom enclosure if you did that though, unless you don't mind it looking like something exploded, lol. -
Renn whats your PSN name? (you can PM me if you dont want it public) just dawned on me you have a PS3 and similar games as me. would love to play with you sometime! :D I don't really play anymore. :( My plasma screen tv was failing, so instead of buying a new one I took that chance to go to PC gaming for the mods. I still have the PS3, games, and the peripherals, but I don't have anything to play it on.

On the topic of easter eggs, (small spoiler ahead) does anyone think the serpent soldiers in Dark Souls look a bit like the Widda? By "a bit" I mean "exactly".

Here's an interesting tidbit that I found recently: King's Field (the original, which only released for the PS1 in Japan) was the first game in the spiritual succession of games to include Black Knights. It also included a moonlight blade. I guess FROM likes easter eggs, lol. As another interesting fact, King's Field for the PS1 now sells for $120 new on Amazon, or $6 used. There's a bit of a noticeable difference there.
