steam support is just a guide to troubleshoot what going on. Same with bethsoft.com. I just reinstalled steam and im now "validating my steam/skyrim files", steam did not do this in the initial install. Also, when i reinstalled steam and logged back in they made me go to my email to get a security code to verify that it was me, i guess this is a precaution after the attack. I will try adjusting my sound settings after steam is done validating. *sigh* i'm not gonna get to play until late tomorrow if i'm lucky

its still steam's fault, i don't care what you say.. i hope this works, thanks

lmao, now steam is telling me that it won't run in compatibility mode. WTF!?! I never told you to run in compatibility mode!

steam just f*cked us in the ass (i don't care about my language, i'm pissed) i'm more mad at bethesda for not foreseeing the shitstorm that steam would cause. and i'm positive this is a steam screw up Did you try reinstalling?

I just got this game about 40 minutes ago, i installed it, downloaded the patch and steam went ahead and installed directx and it did a few other things. So i finally go to play it and it starts up and after a few seconds it closes. I've restarted the computer, I've run it as administrator and yet it still won't run past a few seconds. This is really throwing me off right now. I just wanted to play for an hour or two and this digging into my time. Please help me. Also, did anyone see that steam was compromised and they lost their customers credit card info?

The animations of skyrim has some disturbing footage. Several times i've seen swords impaled through an enemy and instead of the sword being completely hidden away in the body it will sort of come out a bit and in some parts you will see the whole sword being revealed instead of it being completely inside an enemy. I understand that it is hard to completely have the sword vanish inside of an enemy, and this will not stop me from enjoying the game, However, it is a bit of a flaw in an otherwise perfect looking game.

How can a argonian/orc be a dragonborn? -_-
Matthew293 replied to Diso's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
How can it be so hard to comprehend an argonian as dragonborn? Argonians and dragons are reptiles. -
I've noticed that everyone has included alcohol consumption in their plans. We might have a problem.

Sorry for the low quality, it came from my Evo Shift which surprisingly takes sh*tty images. So my little gaming setup is mediocre. However, i could dissemble all my stuff in minutes and be ready to setup elsewhere, which is good enough for me. 1)Alienware M14x, I7-2730QM, Geforce GT 555m, 8GB 1600mhz, 500GB 7200RPM, 1600x900 14.1". 2)I don't know much about the chair besides it being super comfortable and the armrests can go parallel with the desk surface which is nice. 3)Simple glass desk 4)Swiss Army 17" notebook bag from my old notebook. 5)Shure SE-215 in-ear monitors. 6)Maxtor 500GB external harddrive, i've had this for a while. 7)Cameo appearance by my Strat. I'm looking to buy a Logitech G700 wireless mouse for Skyrim, but i'm not sure yet. http://img560.imageshack.us/img560/5769/skryim.jpg Uploaded with ImageShack.us

I'm picking it up at 12:30AM the night it comes out. Then i'll enjoy it after work later in the day with a nice glass of scotch. I got a new desk and a leather chair with really good lower back support. I also got some really nice Shure in-ear monitors last week and my Alienware m14x last September. I'm debating on whether i should buy a new gaming mouse and a mouse pad. Or i may just get a gamepad.

I just want Battlefield 3 and Skyrim for the end of this year. Modern Warfare 3 can go to hell. Mass Effect 3 comes out next March, which i'm getting fo'sho

How can you even say that RAGE is a port failure? It hasn't been out for more then a few days. I don't care if Skyrim is better optimized on xbox, because my machine can afford to play a poorly optimized game and still eat that s*** up as a snack. I can always get a gamepad and mods too. I'm sorry for coming off like an ass, but you can't call RAGE out just yet.

I'm stuck between choosing a nord and a orc. I'm staying away from bows and stealth for my first playthrough. I'm gonna focus on magic, shields and blunt weapons. I was really impressed by one of the character images of a orc with a double handed battle axe. He had some monster triceps. I would not mess with him and his underbite.

I downloaded the wireless 360 controller driver for games for windows and it didn't work, i might have needed a usb reciever or something. However, it is really hard to find the driver on microsoft, almost as if they are trying to hide it in order to make you buy a new controller to get the drivers with it. The driver was a few years old and it didn't work when i tried. I was only trying to play on the controller because touchpad and keyboard sucks. I've been playing touchpad and mouse and it's been amazing these last few days. I'm gonna buy a logitech g700 and a nice mouse pad soon. Btw, i'm using the alienware m14x. Plays crysis 2 @ 25-30fps and it plays mass effect 2 at a steady 60fps. My gpu never goes above 76C and i can overclock it, but for now it doesn't seem like i need to.

Or you could just use Fraps. is there any free and low demanding applications out there that are alternatives to fraps? i don't want to pay 37 dollars and all i really need is to check my fps... i play crysis 2 maxxed out with no lag, it's pretty smooth for a laptop

The Thread of Computers (aka will my computer run Skyrim)
Matthew293 replied to Zeazer's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
It's expected on or before the 23rd. Lets hope for before. However, this is Dell so a simple shipment can get screwed up in so many ways. I deal with them at work for server parts and i want to pull my hair out at times. I hear the OCZ Vertex 3 makes the m14x crash and gives BSOD. So i might go with something a little more stable. The only reason i ever wanted the OCZ Vertex 3 was for the 20% discount i could get. -
The Thread of Computers (aka will my computer run Skyrim)

HALLO DERE! I'm new to the forum. I just purchased this computer last night. I'm pretty sure it will play all the current generation games at almost max settings or at max settings with atleast 30 fps. I know it can run crysis 2 at approximately 30 fps but that is without v-sync(as seen on youtube.) Alienware M14X - Nebula Red with Soft Touch Finish -Intel Core i7 2720QM 2.2GHz (3.3GHz Turbo Mode, 6M cache) -8GB Dual Channel DDR3 at 1600MHz -Alienware M14X 150W A/C Adapter -14.0 High Def+ (900p/1600x900) with WLED backlight -1.5GB DDR3 NVIDIA GeForce GT 555M using NVIDIA Optimus technology -500GB 7200RPM SATA 3GB/s -Slot-Load Dual Layer DVD Burner, DVD+-RW, CD-RW -Internal High-Definition 5.1 Surround Sound Audio -Intel Wireless-N WiFi Link 1000 a/g/n 1x2 I"m also looking to remove my optical drive and to install a OCZ Vertex 3 SSD. Just gotta wait a week or two for this bad boy to come in. Then it should keep me content until Skyrim comes out.
