  1. Hey, I've been having similar issues with my current play-through with the similar settings + PN. I made a thread about it just yesterday (couple of posts below yours :D) but no one has even viewed it yet *sob*. Though, I'm playing with Guns instead of EW but I started thinking of actually switching to energy weapons ... but here you are now saying that it's quite terrible, so... I assume you know what you're doing with your EW build, meaning that you have the right special attributes, perks, and what-not, so I won't go into those now. Personally I think (probably read it from somewhere) that Project Nevada has been developed to be played with the game's normal difficulty setting. At least for me with my gun build it really made a big difference to put it back to normal from very difficult. I still need to figure out if it would make more sense to change PN's balance options instead (skill to damage ratio) and maybe turn them to 'vanilla' settings to see what happens. I know this wasn't really a concrete answer to your specific problem of not getting enough critical hits, but since my Guns build seems to suffer from similar problems I decided to at least give you some kind of a response :D Let me know if you figure out something! Cheers
  2. Hi everyone, I started playing again few days ago but ran into few problems. First of all, I want to play with Hardcore and Very Hard settings with all the nice stuff that comes along with Project Nevada. However, I soon discovered that I have to put about three SMG clips into a light armored enemy in order to kill it. That's just simply not what I want from the game. I still want it to be realistic enough to make some sense. With this in mind my question now is: would you recommend me to turn the general difficulty setting to Normal, or change PN settings instead? I want the game to be challenging, but not in the way that I have to spend all my ammo in order to kill one puny Legion scout... Then a completely another topic. First I started playing a 'survival' archetype character, meaning that I went for the usual Guns, Repair, Survival. It was alright for a while but now at lvl 9 I'm actually utterly bored with it. This is probably because I played a similar character few years ago and don't feel like playing the game through again in the same way. So, now I've been thinking of starting all over and go either a shotgun or an EW build. Which one would you recommend. Obviously it's a matter of personal preference but I'd love to hear general comments from people who have played the game through with both 'builds' -- which one is more 'fun' in the long run? One thing to also keep in mind: I want to roleplay a bit, at least to the extent that I don't want to figure out from websites where to get the best gear for my character. I find it more enjoyable when I just randomly run into something new and cool. Edit: I got the feeling that I should maybe add a few more lines about the general play-style that I'd be interested in :D I find Project Nevada's bullet time and sprint extremely fun, and these two make me want to play a shotgun build in a similar way how the Vanguard class works in Mass Effect (bear with me here). In other words, I fancy the idea of a high risk, high reward playstyle where I need to sprint next to my enemy, activate bullet time, and then shoot away. I just don't really know if this actually works in FNV that well. The EW (crit) build also sounds nice, and maybe a bit more 'viable' as well, but on the other hand I get the feeling that I would enjoy normal guns over laser pew pew in the long run. Hmm... Finally, any other mods you would recommend for a Hardcore/Very Difficult run? I have a bunch already but maybe I missed something.... Cheers!
