i don't know if it to late or not but i reply anyway maybe help some 1 else i was have same problem and i find out it from that creep mod https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/28143?tab=description this mod make me remove like 205 mod and disable them 1 by 1 to see what make this CTD every like 10-5 min with no reason was going insane even try vanilla and same crash and in the end the reason was from that mod.

np nothing worry about The game engine doesn't read the file extension to determine what's an ESP and ESM, but the flag you switched with xEdit. It's not as scary dangerous as you think. It'll just be mis-ordered in pretty much any load order editor besides FOMM, since it seems only FOMM considers the ESM flag in ordering.
