i think my problem is that the gold cross guard mesh when i collapsed everything onto my editable poly 3ds max gave it uneven geometry but since it didn't change the look of it, i didn't bother to fix it when i added a meshsmooth modifier and now when i try to unwrap that part to get a uvw it makes it in small separate pieces. i have looked on youtube and websearch for any way to undo a collapse but havn't had success. is there any way that could be done?
