  1. I don't know if this is the right place to post this, but I'm just hoping somebody will know how to help me with this... tech support forums aren't doing me so well. Basically I tried to play good ol' Icewind Dale on my windows 7 comp... and before that Good ol' Baldur's Gate II... both of the games are having this annoying and heartbreaking issue where the game menus, and the game in general, looks like somebody upended a bucket of water on the interface... everything blurs and smears and becomes unreadable... I don't know how to fix this... I've tried compatability mode... I KNOW it has something to do with the OS, but can't for the life of me find out what... If anyone can help me fix this problem, I'd greatly appreciate it... It's heartbreaking, not being able to play these games... some of the best I've ever played.... In fact BG is THE best series I've played.... seeing it in this shape is troubling.
  2. Hey, just checking up to see how things are going... still interested in helping you, providing life hasn't gotten in the way.... lemme know how things are going, what kind of progress you've made so far... or if the projects fallen through. Getting shipped to another base in about a month, so I'm gonna be indisposed for a while... if you need any help, I'll help however I can.
  3. Sorry, this is just kind of a goofy, "out there" post, relevant, but likely a sincere waste of energy to read.... Looking back through the comments, and the posts, and thinking about weapons, as I always seem to be...(I'm so narrow sometimes) Got me to thinking about how all soldiers and warriors, from the lowliest footman to high lords and captians, would always carry a dagger/knife/stilleto/dirk(etc.) as a secondary, in case they lost their first weapon, or needed to pull a quick "gotcha" on somebody. When I started thinking about that, it got me to thinking about the annoying Skyrim blunder on how you couldn't see both your equipped weapons, unless you rapidly equipped and unequipped your helmet, or other such article of armor or clothing. And THAT got me to thinking about that old classic(?) Two Worlds. Harhar. The dagger was equipped in a secondary slot, and didn't count as a weapons unless you were sneaking. But you could see them. This is really just aesthetic goofiness, and I'm certain someone may want to backhand me for adding such ridiculosity, but you think it would be possible to duplicate something like this? Or is this the kind of thing thats just to much aesthetic itchy scratch to really want to worry about. I'm just airing my scrambled thoughts right now. Gotta lot going on at the moment what with my impending deployment, and I haven't really been thinking clearly for a few months I just always thought a character looked cooler when you could see the heat(steel?) he/she's packing. One of the lesser reasons I like Mount & Blade so much.
  4. Err, news? Sorry, I haven't looked at the forums in Eons. had too much to do. I think this one kid of falled off the map, as it were. lots of request do that. I'll keep people posted if anything happens, yes?
  5. Okay, Okay, I'm sure theres at least ONE other request for them out there somewhere, but I'm not hunting through 900 pages of mod request for it... Wow, it's been a long time since I posted something on this site.... Anyway, I know all of you hardcore Diablo fans (like myself) remember the infamous Hell Bovines, and the secret cow level. Now, I don't know if any of you hardcore fans actually got MAULED by them, like I did (How the hell was I supposed to know there would be so many?), but I'm certain you fell in love with them all the same. I'm also sure at least one of you hardcore Diablo fans has some skill with modding and modeling, though I wont make presumptions. All I'm saying is, the secret cow level should be brought unto Skyrim, and the ancient and terrible weirdness that is the hell Bovine unleashed upon her hapless inhabitants. Let's face it. Skyrim Cows are abused and butchered half the time, and utterly ignored for teh other half. It's time tehy called for help. UNLEASH THE COWS!!!!! Moo.Moomooo.
  6. Damn.... That's pretty much the rundown of it. Got everything right there. Excellent ideas, and very well thought out. Just one problem... I don't suppose you can find somebody who can build this for me... because I certainly can't. I don't know how to write script... and that's A LOT of script writing. Hell, you could make a standalone GAME off of that. Also, while the title is focused freelance assassination, I'm aware that some people... like my friend Timer5, bless his golden little heart, don't like assassinating people. Both him and my friend Jon went out of their way to expose and destroy the Dark Brotherhood. Jon even tried to slaughter the Thieves guild, and found out they were all essential. From that, what happens with all the Dark Brotherhood involvement if you took the quest to wipe out the Dark Brotherhood and finished it? It is known to some that there is only one sanctuary left, and they won't want to commit three or more separate attacks against you Ingrid is brutally protective of her family. Enough reason for them to allow a standalone cutter? Perhaps attempt to recruit you, instead of kill you, like with the Aventus Aretino incident? Just things to look into. Some people will want to look into work as thieves, treasure hunters, mercs, enforcers, caravan guards hell, maybe bakers, farmers and smiths. I'm sure lots of people wouldn't mind having people pay them to make armor (Though I can see the fluidity and lore issues in that. Not necessarily just illegal occupations. I titled it Freelance Work. I just personally prefer assassination, because all my high level characters are focused on assassination. Great ideas though. I appreciate the input. You have a lot of ingenuity.
  7. Weapons seem to be of particular significance to a lot of people at this point in time. Maybe it's just because weapons are cool. I don't know. I haven't been on the nexus in almost half a year now. Just a few things I was thinking to ask. Firstly, where would axes fit into this. I know axes are included in the blunt weapons section of Oblivion which always confused the hell out of me, because axes are not blunt, they are hacking weapons, which is not the same... Secondly... I KNOW you said pole arms were not looking very likely, and that's understandable. Computing in the extended reach, and how to make that seem believable in first person without looking like a violent version of the "Psychic Poke" would be tremendously difficult. Just think you might find it worth your time to know that polearms... at the very least pikes, played an important role on the medieval battlefield. Poleaxes... used to pull knights from horseback... which was necessary if you wanted to kill him. On that note. Please say something on the likelihood of mounted combat. I know it's difficult to program, but I'm sure it can be done, and was a big part of medieval combat as well. No fielded army can exist without a cavalry unit of some form, to counter enemy cavalry, or to assault enemy siege positions. As to siege weapons... maybe I'm asking a bit too big. If polearms are hairy business... trebuchet and ballistae are just otherworldly, I would think. Literally because the only siege machine in the original game was the Oblivion siege engine. Perhaps... as a note on that machine... if it will help... I did find, using console codes, that I could walk on top of the oblivion machine. I think, if you could redesign the oblivion siege machine into say... a siege tower, it could make a serviceable weapon of war. That's the end of my ramble for today. It's late out here, and I have watch nice and early this morning. Sorry I leave such big responses. I don't know when I'm going to be on again, and feel the need to put all of my thoughts out there. Just know that if you need help, I'm here, and I'll do what I can. This is an awesome idea. I'd love to see it come to fruition.
  8. Dude... or Dudette, I'm assuming dude, but could be wrong... Sarevok was one of the most BEAST PC game nemesis ever to exist, with one of the most epic intro lines ever.... ... "I will be the last... and you will go first!" (Evil snarling as he advances on hapless fool.) I never managed to completely finish the first game, and to my ire, my beefed computer will no longer run it properly. I'd like you to know you haven't been alone in your desire. I've always thought somebody should create Sarevok's armor, AND his Sword of Chaos, along with lady Aribeth's armor and sword, Bodhis's somewhat questionable garments, and possibly Irenicus's mask and garments. But Sarevok took priority. I really hope somebody wises up and makes this armor.
  9. I've been looking for a mod that allows you to see both of your weapons when you sheath them. I'm not necessarily looking for something that rewrites the animations to show the second weapons sheathing or drawing, though I think it would be purty cool. I've just noticed how sometimes, for no real apparent reason, when wielding a dagger and a sword, not an axe or a mace, you can see both of the weapons in their respective spaces, such as an Elven dagger in it's wooden looking sheath and a steel sword in it's own. At the same time. I'm repeating myself. I just think it looks snazzy. And official. No real warrior goes into battle with only a single weapon. Even common soldiers carry a dirk or a dagger in case they are disarmed in combat. It's just a point of fact. "I need to start carrying a knife in my boot... Tired of getting disarmed!"
  10. I couldn't entirely fit the request into the description. Basically, I think it would be interesting if you could hold your own occupation as an assassin or a fence. The fencing part might be a bit lucrative, but I've always entertained the idea of just being able to wait in a tavern and have people come to me and offer to pay me for killing people. I know you can just go to the Jarl's and just ask them for a bounty letter... but somehow, it's not the same. Same with thieves guild and dark brotherhood. Of course, maybe the reason you can't freelance is because they rub you out the moment you move onto their turf I tried looking across the Nexus for mods under freelance, assassin, fence, thief, whatnot, but I've come up blank again and again. If somebody could point me towards something similiar to this, or maybe look into creating something like it, I'd appreciate it. I just think It would be cool to make your own reputation as a whatever. Even something along the lines of a traveling wizard. As I seem to recall before Skyrim came out that you were supposed to be able to hold an occupation- or maybe I'm thinking of another game, I may have to look into the previews and reviews again- It just kind of...popped into my mind. Of course, I suppose having random people waking up and asking you to kill someone might get tiresome eventually. Perhaps as a mercenary, with the addition of actual scaled battles between Stormcloaks and Imperials, not the little tussles you always somehow seem to stumble across in the wilderness. have one faction or the other come to you and pay to take part in their battles. Forgive me, I'm starting to drift. Freelance work. Assassin, thievery, or muscle, without a guild, depending on your combination of stats, like sneak and one handed, or lockpicking and pickpocketing... so on.
  11. I've got weapon drawings coming out of my ears. If I can get to a scanner, I'll see what I can do about sending you some of them. I saw the title and did a back flip, because I have tons of the things that I think could be used. If you have any specific suggestions then let me know.
  12. Haha, I hear you on that. The Wizards seem to enjoy that kind of thing immensely. Don't even get me started on Bioware. Talking... locked piles of stones in the middle of the Gods forsaken Cloak Wood. Locked Trees. Damn Keebler Elves. Anyway, Thanks for the direction. It's good to know that the possibility of a hammer happy merc getting what he wanted without resorting to thief craft wasn't completely overlooked.

  14. I understand what you mean by that now. I looked into it, and asked my Taijitsu Sensai about it. You mean something like Shizuku, the silk bands Ninja tie around their thighs and around their forearms, as well as wrap over their hands and their head, correct? I gotcha. Although at this point I've rather found my answer, in Skyrim, ironically. Only a little like what I described, but it's perfect none the less.... The Nightingale Armor in Skyrim, gained after completing most of the Thieves guild quests, is probably the most awesome looking armor I've seen geared for stealth. It looks more assassin than the Dark Brotherhood's weird looking robes. It's funny you get it for being a thief. Thanks for the input, though. If someone could move that set to Oblivion, although Oblivion's gotten a bit obsolete at this point, I think that would be purty cool
  15. Okay. I know this is probably a silly thing to ask, mostly because I'm 87.532 % sure it's already been requested, and likely created... but is there a way to set some way (Repeating myself a bit) to bash a lock open when you can't pick it. I mean, you could always console code it if you run out of picks, but somehow, it just doesn't seem right. Or fair. Scenario My last pick broke! But wait! What have we here... A hhhammmer! HA HA! "THUD" (Warhammer collides with chest and does effectively nothing but cause a small puff of dust and sparks to issue forth) 'Sigh' Stares dumbly at the chest for fifteen seconds or so. I wonder what's inside? Welp... Guess we'll never know. ... ... ~ -Unlock- Seize goods. Hooray. (Little voice way out there somewhere) You stare at your not so hard earned loot and frown, because you don't feel like you've accomplished something. Sighing, you go on your way. Okay, so maybe I got just a bit carried away there, but you get the point. I know that certain game restructuring mods, Like Deadly Reflex (I think) and Unnecessary violence were supposed to let you do something like that, but I could never get it to work. I think they were supposed to let you melt locks as well. And I know Fallout let you force the lock, although doing so unsuccessfully meant you could never get the lock open again (Without console hacking it. Haha. Fallout. Hacking. Console. I'm such a quack.) A system like that, possibly for Skyrim when the tools come out (Which I think they may have already, and I'm just puttering around in circles), and something similar but likely less advanced for Oblivion, because it's older than fallout, and kinda unnecessary once you've learned the trick to lockpicking(Seriously. Skill 4 in lockpicking, and I'm opening master locks). If anyone can give me direction, I would be very appreciative. Contrary to what I rambled about above, I would ask this for Oblivion. Or I would have put it on the Skyrim posts. It's more just a fluidity thing, because I never do run out of lock picks it's just... some less sneaky characters may not want to footle about with picks and tumblers, and may just want to rip the box open. And I have seriously found a locked crate. Not even kidding. I searched in circles around it and found no visible lock, but it was quite locked. Made me ANGRY. Wanted to smash the damn thing! But I couldn't. As EVER... I appreciate any input, so long as I'm not being slandered for being a looney bin, or anything else. You've all been wonderfully polite thus far, though I think I may be wearing on people's nerves by now. P.S. No chests were harmed in the making of this Scenario.
  16. I looked into this mod. While it does seem like it would work, it's just a bit too flashy, and screams a bit too much renaissance instead of assassin. Getting closer though. The hood is about right, even with the widows peak. Now if the cloak covered his whole back and fastened at about midway between his solar plexus and his collar bone. it would work as well. The trousers seem about right, but the boots would need to be lighter. Maybe that screams too much assassin, but I've wandered around in some pretty crazy stuff, and no one really seems to care. For females, the chest would not be bared in the least bit. If anything, it fastens about midway up on the neck. I appreciate the input. When I saw your message, it definitely gave me pause to think. I've checked several resources, but never assassins creed before. As I said before, I'll see what I can do about posting a picture. Now, if someone can help me find out how to put pictures onto the forum entries straight from my desktop, I would greatly appreciate it. :) Probably a newb question, but I'm still trying to figure out how to fly this SOG boat.
  17. I'm willing to believe this has already been requested at least half a thousand times, but I haven't stumbled across it yet. And I did search for it a few times, in severl formats. I think it would be way cool if you could dual wield pistols. How one could get that to work is beyond me, but I know it can be done, if it hasn't already. As a starter note, if one of these already exists, can someone point me in the right direction? Otherwise, could someone look into this idea? I think if you could carry two pistols at one time, it would definitely up the gunslinger factor(There is a perk called Gunslinger, isn't there?) for people who want to maintain the use of pistols as weapons. Now, I know that pistols become of very limited use later in the game, when you are fighting really big uglies like behemoths, but I don't think they would have given you the "small guns skill" if they didn't think you'd want the option to do so. I think for balance, the ability to lob more bullets at an enemy faster is equaled out by lower accuracy and slower reload time. I use the Fallout Reborn mod, so this would probably be better served for that, where you get way cooler handguns like the Mk 45., the DE 50., and the Beretta 9mm. Of course, in that mod, the guns area already way overpowered. I'm talking pistols that do 475 damage a shot. I'm getting off track. Any comments, so long as it's not grievous slander.
  18. I suppose this is an interesting idea, though I can't imagine what you would really need it for. I only played about halfway into Fallout 3, but the whole time I didn't really find any place what you would need a grappling hook to get on top of. Maybe a couple places it might have ben slightly easier to get to, Still, it's a cool idea. Grappling hooks are an essential part of any adventure from any era. Personally, I think something like fast-line would be more appropriate for the time. Of course, I'm not sure you can go UP on a fast-line.
  19. Today the Game Industry is the fastest moving industry there is. Look back 10 years, to 2001. Look at the games. Look at them last year, look at them now. We went from 1024x1024 textures to up towards 4096x4096 today. We went from 1k polygons max per character, and 10k per scene, to 10k-30k per character and 100k per scene. We've gone from low poly, to normal mapping mid polygon models. Oblivion was a very early game to use Normal Maps to the max. Something every model uses today. I promise you, the industry proffesionals are tenfolds better than most of the freelancers. Just because they get the newer technology as soon as it is out. We freelancer find it out when we get told about it. We must also struggle to get the softwares. We must either go illegal, pay up to 2000 dollars for a software, or go study digital art to get it for cheap/free. Of course, I meant no offense. I am aware of just how much better most professionals are compared to freelancers. One of my best friends is a graphic designer working for Blizzard. He's usually too busy to talk to me, but I've known him for a while. All I meant was, even in games we see today, there are a lot of things that can be done in games to make them better, and they aren't done. I am aware that there are time limits, and certain things would overtax machines, and there are money restraints and the mod I proposed would only make the game better to certain people who might want something like this. I'm not trying to trash the designers. That's why I said "If they had the technology" as well. I'm sure the designers would have done a better job them. In terms of gameplay, though I'm sure that falls under a different department, many people, at least who I know, claim that Morrowind, for having poorer graphics, was ultimately better than Oblivion, because so may things were cut out of Oblvion to make way for the graphics, which were good for the time. Although, personally, the voice cast might need a little tuning up. Four hundred year old Elves, and whatnot. Naturally, I got excited in my writing, probably should have been a bit more careful what I said. I'mma dunce sometimes yup.
  20. I've been looking through the Nexus, and I have found so many races and creations that were, frankly, more creative than the original ones. Nothing against Bethesda and what not, but I think, if they had looked into hiring some of you guys(And had the technology to do these things when the game was made) then Oblivion as a whole would have been more awesome. Think about it. I found a Tolkien Elves mod, and his(her?) Elves look more fantastic than the ones already in the game. Drow... Dunmer? You choose. Ice Elves. Grey Elves. Demoness. Khajit Sub races. They are all there. Even the Synx race mod could pass over the Imperials and the Breton. To the point, I'm thinking of Overhauling my races. Naturally, I would give due credit, as I don't rip peoples ideas. However I did have some questions. 1- What kind of tax is that on a system. My machine is pretty powerful, but there are limits to everything. 2-How much would people appreciate something like this? Don't want to upload something, then have it flagged as witch magic and burned 3- Just how many attachements and downloads would I need? besides the custom race fix, better bodies, and whatever each of those races entitles. 4-Could someone help me write dialogue. Most Drow don't want to be called Dunmer, I would think, and while it would take a year and then some to sift through all the dialogue, I'd still like to try it. 5-Would this have too likely a chance to crash a system instead of slowing it down? I have found consistently that other peoples computers are more capable of running mods than mine, despite it's relative power, and when I try to do something, such as, enter TES and place a Demoness, when I enter that cell in the game, the game explodes. Same with the Synx. I ask because I don't know if this is native to my computer at all. 6-How would this effect game experience? I don't want to make it public if people think this would suck. 7- I probably should have asked this first, but are there ALREADY ANY MODS LIKE THIS ONE FLOATING AROUND? I've looked, and looked, but I'm not sure if I'm looking in the right place. 8-Any ideas in general would be appreciated. Just don't slander me for trying to be creative in my thoughts.
  21. That I haven't seen. I'll have to look into it. It sounds similiar to something I may have read about a goodly time ago, though. Anyway, I'll take that into consideration. In relation to the last comment, Chains and jingling items never really clicked with me either. The garment I had in mind is pure cloth, with the exception of the brooch. I'm still trying to get a picture I can post to give a clearer...well...picture, of what I see.
  22. Yup, you're right. Of course, I found that out before I even read your reply. I might have guessed the Nexus's super literal search bar would take that last letter and change the entire meaning. Thanks anyway. I really am a dunce sometime.
  23. But of course, you are correct in that. When I say loose clothing, I'm not referring to something super baggy or flyaway. That would just look even more Hasanseen. I was thinking more akin too...hmmm... If you've ever seen a soldier in BDU's, with pants bloused (Tucked) into his boots, it would be about that baggy. Loose enough not to chafe, or hinder the ability to stretch, but tight enough not to impede you on you mission, be that through audible or physical forms. And yes, the closer something is to black, the less light it reflects. It would depend on just what time you plan to go sneaking around. If it's pitch black outside, I want something as dark as it comes. If I'm toddling around at dusk, then still black. Twilight would be a good time for dark grey. The script is a curious idea, but I understand the realism behind it, as no normal person would wander around aimlessly wearing a garb obviously meant to be so sinister. It's like catching someone wandering in the open with a prison uniform. They are obviously up to no good. As always, I welcome the input. Of course, I'm not going to be building this mod. I have no modding or meshing equipment, and no skill to use them, even if I did have them. And you can forget scripting. I'm about as good at scripting as your average badger.
  24. I hope I'm really talking to someone who's there, and not a ghost file. The again, you did have negative 1 replies (?). Anyway, if you download uneccassary (I know I spelled it wrong, I'm freekin tired) violence, it comes with a timestop (Focus time) mode. If that helps :)
  25. I'm probably going to get banned if I keep this up, but I'll go on. Again, I should probably look for the mod before asking this, but It's late, and I'm tired... I should wait till morning here. I'm not going to. Crossbows. Crossbows are cool, even if they only require a fraction of the skill required to use a bow. They had them in Morrowind, and somehow, I feel they could be put to use in Oblivion. If someone can either point me in their direction(Because searching "Crossbows" on the Nexus turned up Pfft!") Or look into making them, I'd be much obliged. Again, all I ask is that I don't get slandered for my stupidity in asking for something that's probably already clogging the Nexus.
