spent the last 3 hours attempting to create a mod only to have CK keep crashing with only the FO4 main file selected.
It seems to be using less than 25% available CPU usages, less than 10% of GPU usage and about 15% of available memory.
-
New to CK (but have a few FO4Edit based mods), and I know it seems to be a frequent complaint, but is there any way to improve CPU / Memory usage?
CK seems to take forever to perform tasks, frequently locks and seems to only be using a fraction of the available system resources.

So this is a continuation of another post I made, trying to figure out how to determine if a mod has scripting to avoid corruption.
I've tried a couple mods, "Gum to Glue" and "Survival Water Bottles" that won't work for me at all, and a few others with scripts "War of the Commonwealth" that crash me to desktop all the time so I have to believe it's a conflict, sorting or a header issue(watched a Youtube covering scripted mods should have the same header), but how do I figure it out?
I am using a good number of mods, but have recently created a few merged patches and corrected records, so I am not completely helpless..

Thank you and bah!
Love FO4, addicted to FO4, and enjoying trying to streamline the play considering I am upto 180 active mod mods
There seems to be still a great debate over what should go were for clean error free gameplay.
-
Examples would be "BossLegendaryContainerscript.pex
Followerscript
OCDispenserScript
Outfitconfiguratorscript
-
Ok, let me refine the question with this added data...
Scripts this author might be mentioning that could cause savegame corruption, if an Mod is using it, would I find it under the "Scripts" folder?
D:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Fallout 4\Data\Scripts
-
So a mod I want to use but have had trouble with CTD's has a FO4Edit video tutorial and the author makes a point of talking about the load order with scripted mods being critical to avoid corruption and bloat.
Google has failed me, so in FO4Edit what am I looking for to determine if a mod has scripting so I can group them together.
-
Seems hit or miss, keeps putting Armorsmith near the top which creates conflicts, however it fixed some settler conflicts I didn't realize were there (changing the load order slightly resulted in more variety
-
So due do a couple changes in one of my FAVORITE mods, "Raider Overhaul" I had to learn how to use FO4Edit and create a merged patch...
I had been avoiding this, because I knew it would be an irresistible "rabbit-hole" and now I've been going through and making patches for my mods and updating the records to avoid conflicts and hopefully smooth out my game..
I'm stuck in one spot... Legendary Modification.
This + 2LM is one of my favorite things and I'm trying to figure out how to update it / create a patch.
-When I try to select it, and another mod to create a Merged patch 2LM records never copy in
-When I try to edit 2LM files directly and add lines I get an error regarding 2LM does not contain those records. W/ other mods I've been able to then import the records but 2LM is not letting me.
Pointing me in the correct direction would be exceptional as I feel like I'm missing something simple.
Thanks.
FO4Edit 3.1.3
Alternatively if someone could explain how to import into CK and do the same thing I would love to learn that, google failed me when trying to find that.

had the same issue, ended up being Homemaker & SnapnBuild
This fix worked for me:
Fallout 4 CTD when loading safe with Homemaker/Snap N. Build (Possible Fix)
Ok, so Since the last 3 non-Beta pushes I’ve been crashing when loading saves, and after ruling out my other 130 other mods it’s linked to Homemaker and/or Snap N/ Build.
Using GoogleFu I came across a couple fixes for previous updates and none worked, but it lead to some solid core info to experiment with.
The following has worked for me, and I’ve tested it with 3 different saves 2 times each to make sure it works.
- Go to your saves folder, find your most recent two saves. Copy the filename, but without including the “.fos” and past them into a text document.
- Load your Mod manager, record the order of the mods (you can export that with NMM).
- Removed Homemaker (and Its plugins), Snap N. Build (and Its plugins), and Settlement Keywords.
- Start Fallout 4 and Load your most recent save.
- Save your game (not quicksave or auto, full save)
- Exit FO4
- Load your Mod manager and add back Homemaker (and Its plugins), Snap N. Build (and Its plugins), and Settlement Keywords w/ patches.
- Fix the order to what it was @ step 3
- Load Fallout 4
- Open your most recent save (To be clear the one WITHOUT Homemaker)
- Open the console and use the following command Load “SaveXXX_XX_XXX_Commonwealth_XXX_XXX_XX” The exact name would be the save filename from Step #1
- Wait for the save to load, for me it took longer than normal, but worked. Once loaded Save a fresh full save.
- Travel to a settlement and make sure All SnB & homemaker items are still intact, check Build menus to make sure items are there.
- Exit FO4
- Start FO4 and make sure the new clean save loads.
- Rejoice!

My sanc did not have this, but Fort Haegen Sat array had zero textures, so it's linked somehow to the updates and a texture "fix"
-
Not sure if this would help, but if you can track it to a single mod.

If I load a save with both Snap and Build and Homemaker removed, save, exit re-enable both and load it does not crash but I loose days of settlement building..
-
Following the forced updates on Wednesday and Thursday that bugged out pulling off the strings data I opted for a clean install.
My mistake.
After a fresh install of FO4, NMM and each mod one by one I am Crashing to desktop w/ Snap N Build and / or Homemaker installed.
Disable the mods game loads.
Rolled forward and back versions of both.
Tried SK and non-SK versions (of course removing the listed patches)
Non-Beta
Tried automatic and manual installs No dice.

Are you in the beta? (stars infront of plugins)
having a CTD after a fresh load, but seems linked to Homemaker and Snap n. Build after disabling everying and enabling one at a time.
-
Having same issue after a fresh load.
Try disabling Homemaker and or Snap N. Build.
Game will load, I can't play without loading my settlements but thats where the issue seems to be for me (and a bunch of others posting on the Homemaker page)
-
So does this mean that the new Survival mode has come out of beta? If so, some of your mods are likely incompatible. We'll figure out which mods soon enough...
There's also the issue where you have to alter your plugins list to put stars in front of all the mods now apparently.
Stars infront of the mods? have a link because Google is not giving me results. (for non-beta I mean)

Survival is not out of Beta
game is crashing before load screen.

Is there any way to tweak CK's usage / peformance
in Creation Kit and Modders
Posted
I have a "fast" (not a potato I promise) PC and CK takes several minutes to open, one of the reasons I ask.
