  1. To enable the mods you have to at least activate and launch via Vortex once to set the mod config into the game. I mean if your in it, you might as well launch from there. THEN you can launch without Vortex after that. Discovered that the hard way when I went from FO4 and decided to play NV (Vortex not running) for the first time in a year or so, no mods loaded so I had to go and activate FONV as the current game in Vortex to get the mods to load and work. I don't run Vortex except when necessary to change activation of the games that it manages. If you have multiple managed games that you like to switch playing regularly, you have to go to Vortex to switch the current game to active anyway, so might as well launch. Not sure why a game is deactivated that's not currently being played, but that's what happened. Makes no sense to me...
  2. Ok, I'm going to be migrating all my FO (and all my other) games to GoG and off of Steam. I've purchased and download my entire collection of games (those that were available) from GoG as installables to my hard drive. Part of this is migrating to a 6T from a 2T drive that is now full. An older ver. of Vortex is my mod manager and that's not going to change due to W7U pc. I have a limited working knowledge in Vortex, just enough to install mods and set rules and load order. Other than that I'm a danger to myself. ;oP PS. I have already "Steamless"ed all my executables except Halo MCC until the migration to GoG, so technically, I'm off Steam already. I will be adding FO4 London. PC Win7 Ultimate (NO I'm not changing this until I migrate to Linux) Questions: What is the best way to migrate a profile and saves from a current game to the new "platform" (GoG)? Other than just changing target folders? Or can I ? Pretty sure all mods will have to be reinstalled, so how can I create a collection, list, or load pkg in RAR to preserve my current mod list and configuration in Vortex to use in the new GoG game platform? I have created a collection for "upload", which I don't intend to upload, but was hoping to add to my own collection, but see no path to do so. It's only a list after all. I have already copied all mod RAR/7z files to a backup folder on my drive, but that's a lot of lost space to a probably unnecessary redundancy. I intend to clean up the mod list to remove many failed and/or undesirable mods before deploying into GoG FO4 I currently have two working character saves, but will be reenabling profile management to use multiple character profile names for different purposes. Mostly construction and a mod test bed. With multiple profiles/character names, do I need to install the mods for each or is it a "communal thang" across all profiles for the game in question when profiles NOT enabled? Reason to ask is that with profile mgmnt enabled "Fish" has all the mods and "Ivan" has none, BUT with Ivan active and profiles off, it loads all the mods for FISH?!? How did that happen????? Ivan's world is heavily modified and at level 147 with HUGE amounts of construction and I fear dragging the weird little symbol over to the Ivan profile from Fish that it'll screw it up. I think this happened because I started a new game named Ivan with the Fish config installed and later went into Vortex, didn't see it, only Fish, and pulled it up in Vortex via "Savegame". Suddenly all the "Fish" mod config was being used on Ivan as default! If one reenables profile mngmt, Ivan is empty of mods. Weird. Like I said..a danger to myself at this point.... My current working assumptions are..... 1. I'll need to remove / uninstall all undesirable mods in Vortex before deleting Steam (preferable) or at least before installing GoG FO4. 2. All mods to be retained will have to be fully reinstalled from scratch. Not holding breath that Vortex will redeploy into the new platform from the current list. 3. Current savegames may not function in the new FO4 after migration. Thanks for the help guys. Direct me if I need to ask these questions elsewhere..... Fish
  3. Just like your comment. Useless arrogance and a waste of time.
  4. Why should he? There are many of us still using 7 and have absolutely no desire to use any other BS-MS product...ever...going forward. Develop a linux mod manager "for pity's sake"...and I'll leave 7. Not meaning to be ugly, but your comment is puerile BS and not helpful. Now, that being said... I also would like an answer, if there is one...
  5. [FO4] Hey guys! First post.... Not real schooled on modding, just enough to kind-of make it work, but that's ok, think I have enough of a grip to get by, tho managing mod load order of what should go where is still a bit of a mystery. My current system is an ASUS M5A-97 R2, AMD FX-8350, 32GB 1600, EVGA GTX 1660 Super+ 6GB. I'm still using Win 7 Ultimate and will be porting 7 over to a Ryzen system for 7 and linux dual-boot shortly (NO, I'm NOT going to any other MS product so don't bother, just waiting for a mod manager for Linux, if ever, and then 7 goes bye-bye). SO, all that being said, I need to pull my mods off of "C" hdd (1TB) and move them to "F" (6TB) cuz "C" is damn near maxed out. This will include a full flush of the game itself and Vortex for a new do-over. Hopefully, this time, I won't break the game. Been trying to use an ENB, but it thoroughly thrashes everything and CTDs every few minutes, so figured maybe a game flush is in order. I have currently copied (not moved) everything from the "Vortex/downloads" over to "F" into an "active mods" backup folder within the folder I use for manual mod DLs. I intend to change the locations of where Vortex does business (not installs itself, but mods) whether packed or unpacked. At first, temporarily, I would like to just change drives for Vortex's active folders to finish the current game, i.e. Vortex/downloads and Vortex/Fallout4/Mods. The game remains on C: for now until the new system move. One thing tho is this term "hard links" I'm not familiar with. Will this be an issue or will Vortex rewrite them... So here's the question: Can these 2 file locations change drives "as-is" temporarily (with manual file copy over of current mods) without repercussions or are we looking at the complete "enema" now instead of later? Maybe just the DL folder, for now, which lightens "C" by 58 gigs? Thanks in advance!!
