  1. Well, make sure it's in a place that gets attacked sometimes, like the Red Rocket Truck Stop. (Seems like every other time I head back there, there are radscorpions, or supermutants, or something knocking on the door.) I'm not sure that is what triggers it, but it would make sense that enemies in the area would send the NPC's into 'scavenge for weapons' mode.
  2. Oooh! Elevators! Hadn't thought of that. I bet the settlers can't figure out how to use those. Though I'm less sure about Companions - they seem to be able to teleport around wherever they damn well please. I once spent some time searching around the Red Rocket Truck Stop for MacCready, whom I could HEAR but not see... until I finally spotted him ON THE ROOF. There was no stairs leading up there. No way whatsoever to get there. He did not give a f*#@. >.< And then there was Valentine teleporting into a locked room. Geez.
  3. Well, first of all, I've just found out that Symbiant's 'Locked Doors' mod DOESN'T ACTUALLY WORK. I built a small metal shack, stuck a locked door on it, and put all my guns inside. I come back a while later and... find Nick Valentine sitting inside it, staring at me when I open the door. So yeah, still need a viable solution. As for why my stuff gets stolen... it's PROBABLY because of a certain stylistic choice of mine, that seems to be quite unusual: I like to stick all the ammo in the same crate as the gun. I find it... immersion-breaking that I can carry around 6000 rounds of 5mm ammo all the time, so I store it in a crate along with my minigun, so that I can easily collect both gun and ammo when I feel like taking it out for a spin. But yeah, you do that, and everyone who can get to it WILL steal your gear, AND use it. (At least keeping all the fusion-cores with me prevents my powered armor from being stolen... but once again, I can't store the fusion-cores anywhere, since then THEY will just be stolen, and used to power the armor, which they will then use.) So... maybe I can get around this whole problem just by ignoring the ridiculous amounts of ammo I'm carrying, or by storing it in a separate crate, but then I'll have to go through a list of 20 different kinds of ammo when I need to collect something, and try to remember what I've got all my guns chambered for at the moment... so yeah. I'd still much prefer having some way to get everyone to just keep their filthy mitts off my gear. Oh, and maybe I can also get around it by equipping all my settlers and unused companions with decent gear, but c'mon! My companions have INFINITE-AMMO weapons they can use per default, they should be happy with that! And my settlers are just supposed to run the stores and look after the crops - I've got a ton of turrets set up around the settlement to deal with attackers, so they really aren't SUPPOSED to be getting into scraps!
  4. Mmm... true. The bit with the ladder is a tad... immersion-breaking, though. Well, not enormously so, I suppose - at least one of the ladders looks reasonably moveable, come to that. But locking and unlocking with the console? That'd just be a huge hassle, especially since I play with a controller... For now, I've used Symbiant's Locked Doors mod to create a locked 'gun-shed'. It works, but... eeehhh, I still feel like there should be a more elegant solution. Especially combined with the 'Weapon display' mods - I'd wanna display my guns openly, not locked away in some cabin somewhere!
  5. I've gotten quite fed up with leaving my tricked-out weapons in a crate on my base, and then coming back to find that some random farmer or companion has nabbed it. I know there are ways around it, by keeping your supplies in a location with no settlers or companions, but I like having a centralized location where I can find all my guns and companions in one place, y'know? So - what's needed is either locked containers (that you can stash stuff in so it'll be safe from sticky-fingered settlers), or simply a mod that stops settlers and companions from grabbing stuff from containers. I honestly have no idea which is easier. At the moment, the closest thing available seems to be Symbiant's Locked Doors mod - which COULD be used to make a safe 'gun-locker'. But it's a tad... limiting, in terms of settlement design.
