Individual freedoms are not stolen by force of arms, but are taken piece by piece to allow everyone to get used to the idea.
How long will it be before there are additions to steam TOS. Each individual encroachment is small and easily digestable, but where will it end?
I agree totally. Too bad most people don't care enough about this kind of thing as long as they have money to buy games and games to play.
Well ozi, that first sentence is going to be my new signature here on the forums ;-)

Who here still plays some of the old Zelda games? Or at least is still a big fan of them. :D
I love the whole Zelda series, A Link to the Past is my favorite and I'm still playing it every now and then.

This might come in handy for those of us who don't want the Steam client constantly active and connected to the net: How to use Offline Mode

Thanks jim_uk for the tip! +kudos

According to what I've heard about Steam (from forums and blogs), it uses around 5-15 MB RAM when minimized to system tray, 40-60 MB RAM when open in taskbar, and up to 1 or more hundreds of MB when using the store (downloading games). Also there should be an option called "Run Steam when Windows starts" to allow/disallow Steam from starting.
That said, I don't have Steam installed on my pc... yet.
Thank you, Bethesda.....

There is a thread about a similar problem here.

I live in Italy but preordered from Amazon UK because when I play PC games I always prefer the original voice acting (in English), even if that means I'll have to wait 1 extra week to get the game...

What do people think of modding, do you think it is good, or bad? Why do you think that?
Good, of course. They make the game better - in a sense of either improving it (graphics, gameplay, extending/adding quests, etc.) or making the game more suited to your personal tastes.
How did you get into modding?
Every "moddable" game I played on PC had at least one mod that I liked but that wasn't "perfect" the way I wanted, so I had to learn to... mod the existing mods, and later to create my first mods for personal use.
What is your favourite mod?
Kyoma's Journal mod for Oblivion (yep, I <3 roleplaying.)
Why do you think people bother making mods?
Because they can? For example, in Oblivion I wanted my house to be in a specific part of a forest near a river and so I created one.
Why do you download and play mods?
They help enhance the gaming experience and make Oblivion's replay value practically infinite (well, almost...)

I'd prefer 2 for immersion, but I hated it when in Kvatch guards/companions were killed by daedra while I was in the middle of the battle and couldn't babysit them, so I voted 3 (mass effect style). Hint hint modders :)

Hm, the Pursuit of Vikings perhaps? ;D Or
.And of course anything by Harry Gregson-Williams.
Listen toguy's Skyrim inspired collection.Epic. At first I didn't think for a second it was fan-made.

Probably a warrior with the ability to use restoration/destruction magic, and a bit of stealth (especially if bows are actually better calibrated than in Oblivion).

"Rolling hills and light blue rivers, predominantly covered in rainforest and woodland." For me it's Valenwood.

I'm fine as long as it comes when it should, if not, I'm suing amazon for emotional distress. Also killing them all with my home made squid-bear.
This.
And since I found found a discussion thead were 380 customers are complaining about non-deliveries from Amazon UK (where I placed my preorder ) I'm getting a little... nervous.

Couldn´t get the 3GB mod to work but found a 4 GB patch, tried the game for a bit and it´s probably better, wish I didn´t have to change the CMD.
To restore the original settings just repeat the procedure with cmd using this command instead: BCDEDIT /set increaseuserva 2048

*sigh*
More useless crap installed on my pc...

Also check out www.hwcompare.com and use it to compare cards and to help you choose. Some cards produce higher temperatures and consume much more electrical power than others (especially older vs newer models), which IMO should be taken into consideration before buying.

There is no boot.ini in Windows 7. Just go to the Start menu and in the search box type CMD. When "cmd.exe" appears, right click on it, choose "run as administrator" and the command prompt will appear. Now enter the following command: BCDEDIT /set increaseuserva 2900
Restart your computer and apply the 3gb patch.
Edit: to restore the default Windows setting, use: BCDEDIT /set increaseuserva 2048

Eeek. Multiplayer. No thanks.
Nope. One of the reasons I love the Elder Scrolls so much is because it is one of the few games that has yet to be corrupted by multiplayer. :PMy thoughts exactly.

But I guess if there's nothing else that can be done, I'll just have to do further tweaking. Thanks anyway.
Just in case, I posted some info here on optimizing the OS resources (reducing cpu load and ram usage). You could try and see if there is any difference.
-
Be sure to tweak the Operating system first, then the Video card, and the game last. Be sure you don't have any unneeded background processes running as they can kill fps as well as cause crashes.
Good advice, I forgot about the OS. I created a batch file to disable all unneeded services in Windows 7, I usually run it before playing any cpu-intensive game like Oblivion:
taskkill /f /im jusched.exe
echo y | net stop WinHttpAutoProxySvc
echo y | net stop wuauserv
echo y | net stop wscsvc
echo y | net stop SysMain
echo y | net stop lmhosts
echo y | net stop WdiServiceHost
echo y | net stop WdiSystemHost
echo y | net stop SSDPSRV
echo y | net stop TrkWks
echo y | net stop HomeGroupProvider
echo y | net stop FDResPub
echo y | net stop PcaSvc
echo y | net stop LanmanServer
echo y | net stop FontCache
echo y | net stop WMPNetworkSvc
echo y | net stop WbioSrvc
echo y | net stop WPDBusEnum
echo y | net stop WerSvc
echo y | net stop AeLookupSvc
echo y | net stop WinDefend
echo y | net stop ehRecvr
echo y | net stop ehSched
echo y | net stop Dnscache
Just copy & paste the commands above in Windows' notepad and save the file on your desktop as SOMETHING.bat then when you want to play click on it. A lot of ram and cpu time are saved and, if you have any problems, you can just reboot and everything is back normal (your system configuration is only changed temporarily.)
Also if you don't need Windows' Firewall (e.g. you have another one installed, you're not online, etc.) you can add this command to the list above: echo y | net stop MpsSvc
Edit: make sure to run the file as Administrator.

You might want to take a look at the script used in the No Player Leveling mod (it requires obse, but I've never seen a corrupted save on my pc with Win 7 + obse.)

Let's Play...
