  1. 800x600 can be viewed at a fairly decent frame rate even with a low-end graphics card. Tweaking the other in-game graphics settings can affect performance a LOT, e.g. the distance/amount of grass, trees and items you want to use, self shadows, etc.

As for the settings in the oblivion.ini file, I experimented a lot but there seems to be very little advantage in tweaking them - especially if you don't have enough ram for caching.

The only essential change I'd recommend is using the Stutter Remover mod (and, if you plan on adding more RAM to your laptop, apply the 4gb patch.)

  2. Monkey Island 2 (1991)

    Street Fighter 2 (1991)

    Lemmings (1991)

A Link to the Past (Zelda) (1992)

    Ultima VII (1992)

    Castlevania SotN (1997)

    Worms 2 (1997)

    Baldur's Gate 1 (1998)

    Suikoden 2 (1999)

    Age of Empires 2 (1999)

with Suikoden II being my favorite.

  3. For awhile, I thought that adding a Hardcore Mode mostly involving food, drink, and sleep would be an amazing thing to have. Then I tried it in Oblivion. It simply took away from the fun of the game and added an element of stress. But perhaps it simply hasn't been done properly yet.

I agree. I ended up disabling those mods and using just a simple sleep/camping mod and a journal mod for RP'ing.

  4. What is your favorite MAJOR new updated feature from Oblivion To Skyrim:

I chose "Radiant A.I & Story" because you can polish up a game's graphics as much as you want, and pack as much action, magic and combat moves as possible into it, but without realism it's not what I'd call a deep gaming experience.

    Your Favorate LESSER updated feature:

I chose "A.I. Overhaul, daily routines & creature Ecology & foodchains" although I also love the "72 Voice Actors & guest voice actors" feature.

    Your Largest Discrepency:

"Perk Based System." Because I hated it in Fallout 3.

  5. I was planning to enchant a ring that deals fire damage, like in the FG quest in Oblivion. Drop it. Wait for someone to ask for it, "Why yes you may have it".......

    LOL

  6. Even Tolkien's names in Lord of the Rings and Silmarillion were all based on names from the languages he constructed his languages from, with a few notable exceptions... and that man spent YEARS of his life making up original sounding stuff ;)

And just like Bethesta did with their Roman-sounding names, some of Tolkien's names are clearly based on real names - e.g. Moria (Moriah, a mountain in the book of Genesis), Gandalf (Gandolfo/Gandolf Castle), etc. He also took inspiration for his constructed languages from real languages, i.e. Welsh, Finnish, Hebrew (use of the semitic model of triconsonantal roots.)

Vicente Valtieri -- "Vicente" is Spanish/Portuguese/Italian for "Vincent".

Hm, no, Vincent in italian is Vincenzo. I think Vicente is just meant to sound like a latin name.

  7. What should I write to the console? I do not know English well ....

It depends on the stage of the quest you are stuck on. To know which stage (number) you're at in Ulrich's quest, try the following command:

    getstage MS10

it should return a number. 10 means you just accepted the quest, 20 you talked with Llevana, 30 you haven't found Aldos yet, etc. (The full list of stage id's is detailed in the link I gave you in my previous post.)

Let's say getstage returned 20, just add 10 and you have 30. Now use the command:

    setstage MS10 30

to advance to the next stage and proceed with the quest (e.g. if you advance to 30, you should go see Aldos.)

Of course when using these commands do NOT save your game unless you're sure that your problem is solved.

  8. I'm afraid I have another question though - is there a mod that makes clutter respawn? I'm pretty sure I saw one somewhere, and neglected to get it, and now I can't find it. I'm asking because every now and then I get itchy fingers and decide to swipe all the silver out of a place, but later on it ends up looking daft when there are just mounds of strawberries or whatever hanging in midair.

Perhaps it was an old mod called "24 hour respawn"? I couldn't find it anymore, but there are a couple of mods that you could try:

    http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=37372

(restocking mod for shelves, counters, etc. in shops)

    http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=32484

(clutter respawn but only for cheydinhal)

  9. Evil plans? Nah, imma completely eradicate everyone in the Dark Brotherhood though. Cuz they're dickheads.

    +1

In Oblivion it wasn't possible unless you used cheats, but I plan on eradicating the bastards in Skyrim.

  10. Yeah thanks, some of what I'm looking for actually.

If there are more be sure to point me to them :)

Hmm, there's also the "Goranga Restaurant Job" mod (you can work as waiter/waitress at The Merchants Inn restaurant)

And Ashs' mods 1 and 2:

Also, if you're in for treasure hunts...

  11. I have been wanting to see some footage of the towns and cities and at last we can see how different each city is and how the inhabitants go about their daily business. It's all so well captured, the atmosphere, the Lord sat upon his throne, the market sellers, I nearly burst into tears! I can't wait to walk those streets and converse with the people!

    I agree completely!

  12. Does anyone know of a profession or job mod?

Something that serves as an alternative money maker other than raiding dungeons and people's houses. I've already got immersive mining for mining for resources and the trade and commerce, but I was hoping for more, ye know....

"Random Tasks" by J. Schaffer creates a job board in the Market District just outside the Black Courier offices. Random jobs appear every week and include delivery of ingredients, books, or just random items.

"Delivery Job" by Manargo & Zaldir allows to do delivery jobs for the Gold Horse Delivery Service.

You can download both mods from tesnexus.com

    HTH.
