Thank you greatly for your help, I'll try those things out and see if it helps. :) Problems like getting stuck in combat seem not to be happening as often since I started a new savefile. I also identified a mod called Better Dialog Controls (or something alike) that was the cause of the "stuck in the conversation box" problem, so I uninstalled that.

Thanks! I've noticed an improvement in performance since I started a new character, so I think I may have had a corrupt save. I've run into a new, small but annoying problem - I installed two mods from the Oldrim Nexus, Thrassian Plaguesword and Bandit's Eyepatch (Sharlikran's version). I am aware these were made for Oldrim but in the case of the Thrassian Plaguesword mod at least, the posts on the forum assured me that the mod works with SSE if manually installed. Yet when I try to load the game with the plugins active, the game simply won't launch. I had this issue once before, which I fixed by deleting my plugins.txt file under AppData, but now when I try that it just deactivates all my plugins instead. The only way I can get the game to run again is by deactivating BanditsEyepatch.esp and FH_Plaguesword.esp. Otherwise, my load order is the same. It's not a big deal but I would really like the Eyepatch mod to work as it's important to the character I'm roleplaying.

OK, my game is playable now but I'm still having a few persistent bugs, and overall poor performance (lots of lag, occasionally freezing and forcing me to restart my computer). The two bugs that frustrate me the most are getting stuck in combat and getting stuck in conversations. Sometimes the game will behave as though I'm still in combat, even if every enemy in the immediate vicinity is dead. My follower will behave as though he's in combat and I'm unable to wait, sit, or interact with objects. My best guess is that there's an enemy SOMEWHERE on the map causing this, but I've never been able to find the source of the problem. So far the only fix I've found is reloading an earlier save. I sometimes also am unable to tab out of conversations with NPCs or end them in any way. This forces me to restart the game. I've also noticed that music and sounds sometimes play up, like music not stopping when it's supposed to. This forced me to uninstall The Forgotten City as the custom music wouldn't stop playing. Concerning performance I've tried just about everything - I've locked the framerate at 60fps, turned off vertical sync, updated my drivers, etc. etc. Nothing seems to work. Please help.

I've managed to get the game to run and play smoothly, but now I'm having a strange problem with being stuck in conversations. Sometimes when I talk to someone, the game won't allow me to tab out of the conversation. Any ideas?

Still having issues. Also, is there a mod that re-enables achievements for a modded game?

Hm, strange. I have hours of flawless gameplay when playing as a default male Nord, but when I made a male Orc character I barely made it out of character creation before I got CTDs. That was the same problem I had when I made this thread (I first tried playing as a male Orc). This is my load order now. I will continue debugging tomorrow but it's late and I've been trying all day. Thank you for your help. :) I think I'm making some progress by checking my mods 5 at a time. I did run LOOT, and as said no conflicts were detected. I run it whenever I make any changes to my mods, and if there are problems I solve them to the best of my ability. I'm not very good with this kind of stuff. As for adult mods, I only installed a nude mod that I found on the Special Edition site on the Nexus. I didn't install any from old Skyrim mods, or from websites other than the Nexus. I may have installed some Oldrim mods by accident, hopefully I managed to catch them this time. I did not run any mods that require bodyslide, as far as I'm aware.

Hey! Please help. I'm trying to get back into Skyrim now that the Special Edition has come out and I'm having trouble getting my mods to work. It crashes to desktop almost immediately upon startup. Hi. I'm having a lot of trouble with my game. It is constantly freezing and crashing to the desktop. On occasion I'm able to play for up to an hour before this happens, but often it'll crash immediately or within 10-20 minutes of playing, especially when passing between cells. I'm getting pretty sick of it. As I have a good setup (Nvidia Geforce GTX 780, 8gigs of RAM), I suspect it's a mod conflict, but I have no idea how to identify it. I've already done BOSS sorting and cleaning with TES5Edit--absolutely no improvement. Here's my load order, please help. I'm also unable to get Dual Sheath to work. When I try to run the Skyproc patcher, it tells me there's a conflict with the Longbows mod, but I don't know what the problem is as I put the files in the order specified on the Nexus page.

The game seems to crash to desktop when exiting to an exterior cell from an interior, but lately it's been happening while just roaming the wilderness. I have a good run yesterday, hours of play with no CTDs at all. I was playing the Falskaar mod so I wasn't actually in the Skyrim worldspace. Not so lucky today though, and still playing the Falskaar mod. I doubt it's a bloated save as I made a new savefile after reorganizing and cleaning all the mods for like, the third time, but I could be wrong. It's also probably not an issue with what my rig can handle (running with 8gb RAM and a Geforce GTX 780). I HAVE had that problem before and made sure to remove all texture mods as well as ENB before starting this time. Apart from, say, Climates of Tamriel there's nothing that alters the way the game looks, and during gameplay there are no problems with performance or lagging. It plays fine until it crashes.

I managed to solve the CTD on startup problem, it was a missing master associated with a patch I got from another mod. But now the game is frequently freezing and crashing and I'm not sure what to do to improve it. I've already cleaned everything with TES5Edit.

I did move some mods around, unfortunately, though I can't remember which ones. The weird load order is probably because BOSS didn't recognize some of the mods (about 10 of them) and I didn't know where to put them. I do seem to be having a problem with BOSS, in that it throws an error when I use it. Let me see if I can catch it... It says it can't update the masterlist, or something? I'm not sure. Also, while I was playing the game I noticed some texture mods and such that weren't in this load order appearing in the game, and I think they might be from an old install... At this point I think I'm gonna just have to do a completely fresh install.

I was able to play Skyrim normally until now, with only a CTD or freeze every couple of hours. Now I'm getting CTDs on startup, as soon as I hit the dragon logo. I've already done BOSS sorting and TES5Edit cleaning. I'm not sure what the problem is. Please help. Well, I'll stick to it, in that case, and install the patches you suggested. I'll leave IA how it is for the moment. It still throws an error when I rebuild my bashed patch, but according to the info page on the Nexus, that's to be expected. I'd already tried validating my install files through Steam after uninstalling Hialgoboost and it didn't work, but I'll try again. Thanks for all your help, guys. I really appreciate it. I love Skyrim and I'm glad the mod community is still going strong. I would be lost without these troubleshooting forums.

I'm a lady. ^_^ Also, I think the odd dialog bug had to do with ENB, since it seems to have disappeared since I uninstalled it. I've never had a problem with ENB before, but then I was into the game's data files, trying to improve performance by messing around with stuff I probably shouldn't have been messing around with. I was using a proxy dll because of HialgoBoost--which I would uninstall, except tesv.exe throws an error if I do and won't work until I plug it back in.

Hm. Would you say Requiem is better than SkyRe as a gameplay overhaul mod? Are there other gameplay overhauls I should try? I tried Requiem briefly but thought it was more trouble than it was worth because of all the patches it needed (also, it made my game really f*#@ing hard even on low difficulties), but if SkyRe needs just as many patches, it might be worth a second look. SkyRe at least has an automatic patch generator, but after looking in the comments it seems the mod author isn't updating or supporting it anymore, and other mod authors have taken up the task of creating current patches for SkyRe, such as the ones you've linked me to.

After trimming down my load order, it runs much more smoothly. I left ENB on, but at the end of the day, I'd rather play the game than look at it, so if need be I'll turn that off as well. But now I'm having a rather odd visual bug: http://i59.tinypic.com/v6hl3b.jpg When I enter dialogue with an NPC, the camera angle changes and the dialogue menu turns opaque. I've never had this bug before, I have no idea what could be causing it.

My load order: I'm using ENB, with the Natural Lighting and Atmospheric preset from the Nexus. Quite a few high-res texture mods. I didn't have as much trouble running the game until it started crashing, though performance was slow in busy cells, but now it's worse than ever.

OK, so I reinstalled the game and all the addons and it's back up and running, but its performance is terrible. I tried installing HialgoBoost but it doesn't seem to have done anything, except put a watermark in the corner of my screen. Framerate is terrible and the visuals pixelate when I move the camera. It's all right if I'm still, in the menu, or talking to an NPC, but if I move or even look around it chugs like hell. Any suggestions? It's possible my PC just needs an upgrade as I'm aware my equipment is no longer cutting edge. Also, there seems to be some sort of problem with SkyUI as I'm not seeing the MCM in the game menu...

OK, so I deactivated all my mods except for the official DLCs, and I was still getting a CTD on startup. I'm going to try reinstalling the game. I didn't want to do that because it takes ages, but I don't think I really have a choice.

Thanks for your time. :) Most of my mods are recognized by BOSS. There are only about seven or eight that aren't being recognized and are being dumped at the bottom of the load list, if that helps any. As far as I can tell, Wrye Bash isn't detecting any real problems... Though a few of the boxes in the list are orange. When I click Rebuild Patch, it tells me there is a Delinquent Master Error with Longbows&Crossbows.esp. I've seen that before... Moving that file after all the other files for the Longbows mod seems to fix it, but BOSS keeps putting it back at the top for some reason. Only two files are able to be bashed, according to the program. Nevertheless I've done it anyway. But when the program builds the patch, it spits out this error: I'm afraid I don't know what it means :( Creating the merged patch causes this to appear in the loader window: [0804B19B] <Error: Could not be resolved> Otherwise, I was able to create and activate the patch. I've ordered them as you instructed. But there's still no change, still a CTD on startup.

And yet again I come running to the Nexus forums for help... My game is heavily modded. Just a day or two ago it was stable, if a bit laggy (fine in small interior cells but performance dropped vastly once I entered the wilderness or busy cells like Whiterun), but it's come apart again. I'm getting consistent CTDs on startup now--the game won't load at all. I'll see the dragon logo for a split second before the window disappears. Before then, I would get CTD when I hit ESC, when I loaded a save, or when I started a new savefile. It varied, depending on how I tried to fix the problem. I've not been able to get it running at all. I've done everything I know how to do--BOSS sorting, TES5Edit cleaning, and starting entire new savegames when I made any adjustments to my load order. I've tried my best to keep up good and safe modding practices, I've read extensively about what and what not to do, but as I'm not what you might consider an advanced user of mods I suppose it's inevitable that I would run into problems. I've heard Merged Patches (as opposed to Bashed Patches which are apparently unreliable for Skyrim) are a good way to improve performance with lots of mods but I'm not entirely certain how these work or which mods to merge. If someone could explain to me which mods need to go into a Merged Patch, I'd appreciate it. Automatic Variants had given me trouble before, so I tried uninstalling it, to no avail. Re-running the AV patcher after adjusting mods/load order also did not help. My specs are: OS: MS Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 CPU: Intel Core i5 2500k @ 3.30 ghz RAM: 8G GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 580 Here's my load order. I'm also using ENB.

I'm having this problem as well. I was able to start the game and play for an hour or two before getting the infinite spawns.
