Thanks for the responses, running as admin didn´t work for me either. I did however find out what to do and it worked for me: In the Libary in Steam, rightclick on Skyrim -> select properties -> select the Local Files tab -> Click Verify Integrity of Game Cache. It found some incomplete/corrupted files that it replaced, and now the game works :D Good luck.

Hello guys, I hope someone out there are able to help me out, I´m getting really frustrated here.. I bought a hard copy of Skyrim, installed it and updated it (and steam) and now when I try to run the game, nothing happens: the launcher just takes me straight back to the launcher menu. When I press play again, same deal. I tried rebooting the computer and steam, changed my speaker settings in the control panel, setting the graphics to low aswell as windowed mode, and also tried searching the web for an answer, without luck. My computer should be able to run the game without any problems, and I´ve never had a game-problem like this one before. And yes, I´m an idiot when it comes to computers, so please be gentle if I completely missed doing something obvious for the game to work.. ;) Please help me *starts kicking stuff out of frustration*
