Vault 88 stuttering - anyone else?
cattywampus4 replied to cattywampus4's topic in Fallout 4's Discussion
How big is your vault ? I am sure vast builds have an impact on frame rates. Mm I know what you mean and yes some of my settlements are big enough to impact frame rates. However, when this happens the effect is different from what is happening in Vault 88. This is a noticeable micro pause/stutter... not just a drop in frame rates. -
CTD in Jamaica Plains when building/scrapping
cattywampus4 replied to cattywampus4's topic in Fallout 4's Discussion
Wonderful. So essentially the best thing to do is just avoid that settlement? I take it using something like Cell Ripper, which claims it can reset settlement cells, would be no use? While it does claim to do that, in the bugs section there are people claiming that doing this causes a similar problem to what I am actually experiencing now. What an arse! -
CTD in Jamaica Plains when building/scrapping
cattywampus4 replied to cattywampus4's topic in Fallout 4's Discussion
Meh, how annoying. I have tried a few things to see if I can see if a mod was causing it. Rolled back some of the more recent mods I have updated to earlier versions but nothing makes a difference. Sucks ass. -
Hi Suddenly having an issue in Jamaica Plain where if I scrap things, it crashes. I am trying to narrow down if it is on a certain item or type of item but seems somewhat random. I do have a lot of mods installed and I will eventually have to go through and see if one of them is causing it. But as far as I can see, it is only happening in Jamaica Plain. Is there a way I can reset a settlement to its vanilla state and build it again? Any advice welcomed. FYI: Don't know/think it would be relevant but Jamaica Plain is the location that was chosen to be Mercer Safehouse.

Hi there, I am having an issue in my Vault 88 settlement which is quite big but no bigger than other settlements I have made. The issue I have is that there is a constant stuttering. It is not a pause as such, but when moving it is very noticeable and every half a second there is a slight but noticeable micropause. I did have 3 interval switches connected to a lot of light boxes and thought they were the cause. When I removed them I thought the problem had gone but it is back again. Any one else?

ENBoost Crashing when clicking Save Configuration
cattywampus4 replied to cattywampus4's topic in Fallout 4's Discussion
Hmmm interesting. I think I am just going to format and re-install everything. Just in the process of backing up all my Fallout folders in hope that I can simply copy back over my Fallout 4 steam folder and Nexus mods folder and not have to individually install every single mod. I have to say though I am absolutely gobsmacked that it has come to this. Just to flesh out the story slightly... I was using the original release of Windows 10 (build 1507). I ran Windows updates regularly but the 2 later builds were not served to me until I actively searched them out. So I first installed version 1511, and then Version 1607. This is when the problems started and essentially ENB stopped working as it should. It would appear to me at least that the process of install the Windows updates, using the Windows Update method, not an ISO, it installs a new version of Windows, stores your old Windows folder as Windows.old and then must copy over settings/files/applications. I can only assume that something went tits up during the copying back over phase. I am all for MS releasing regular upgrades with new features...but if every six months it means I am going to have to nuke my setup and re-install everything because something breaks, that is not right. I switched to the Mac 10 years ago as my main computer and only use Windows for gaming. I understand that MS have to design an OS to work on millions of computers each with different configurations while Apple know beforehand what hardware will be used with theirs; however... this issue that has arose doesn't seem to be a hardware issue. This to me is a software bug and if MS cannot avoid errors coming up like this, they should be using an upgrade method that is less likely to cause a catastrophic cock up. Side note: I also noticed while playing FO4 after the updates that my screen would go off for 5 seconds every now and again and then come back on... as if there was a loose connection (there wasn't). I did a re-install of my Nvidia drivers but made no difference. I just hope that a reformat is going to solve all my problems. I have been a bit lax lately with backups but I think I am going to implement a better backup system so that I can definitely roll back in the future. -
ENBoost Crashing when clicking Save Configuration
cattywampus4 replied to cattywampus4's topic in Fallout 4's Discussion
So can you confirm that yours does the same?! You use F4SE and ENBoost 0.307? And when you press Shift+Enter to bring up the ENB GUI, and try to 'Save Configuration' it crashes to the desktop? -
ENBoost Crashing when clicking Save Configuration
cattywampus4 replied to cattywampus4's topic in Fallout 4's Discussion
I tried to roll back but won't work for some reason. I actually hate Windows. I really do. I have however now found something new. If I launch the game using F4SE (as I normally do), it crashes when trying to 'Save Configuration' in ENB GUI. If I launch the game through the normal Fallout Launcher, it works fine. -
ENBoost Crashing when clicking Save Configuration
cattywampus4 replied to cattywampus4's topic in Fallout 4's Discussion
I have done a clean install of the nvidia drivers already which made no change. There is an ENB update but it is a 'general' update i think? Under the Fallout 4 section 0.307 is still listed as the latest. Getting to the point of just thinking to reinstall Windows again from scratch. Which if I have to do that, would be an absolute f*#@ing joke. -
Hi I have just run a load of updates to Windows including the Anniversary Update and I am having issues with Fallout 4 now. I run the game with ENBoost 0.307 and before hand was able to press Shift+Enter to bring up the ENB GUI, make changes and then hit 'Save Configuration' and it would. Now whenever I do that the game just crashes to the desktop. I have removed all ENB/Reshade/SweetFX related files from the Fallout 4 folder and re-installed in different orders etc but whatever I do it just crashes out. I am also not convinced that since running the Windows updates that ENB is properly doing its thing. Anyone any idea what is causing the issues? Thanks.

Should I upgrade my graphics card?
cattywampus4 replied to cattywampus4's topic in Fallout 4's Discussion
Yeah this is something I had been considering and was prepared to upgrade if need be. I have a 600w PSU though so would hope that it would handle either the 1070 or 1080. Anyway, I think I am going to order an EVGA 1070 over the weekend and give it a whirl. -
Should I upgrade my graphics card?
cattywampus4 replied to cattywampus4's topic in Fallout 4's Discussion
Hmm.... Thank you for your replies. Giving me something to think about. I am considering ordering a 1070 from Amazon and trying it out. If there aint much difference then I can send it back within 30 days. I have done a little extra reading and the 1080 is probably way over powered and way over priced at the moment while the 1070 is more sensible. Will have a think. Any more thoughts welcomed. Thanks. -

Should I upgrade my graphics card?
cattywampus4 replied to cattywampus4's topic in Fallout 4's Discussion
I know only two people have replied but already what I thought might be the case has been confirmed. I was hoping you would all say 'Yes whack a great card in there and you will get 1000 frames per second everywhere in the game' :) -
Hi I bought an EVGA 970GTX FTW 2.0 4GB card around 12 months ago for £300. Its a nice card and handles FO4 pretty well although when in my heavily built up settlements, the frame rate drops from 60fps to 25-30. I am seriously considering upgrading to something a little beefier but what I want to know is, is the frame rate dropping in my heavily built up settlements dropping because of graphical power or is it a limit of the game that is the cause, and therefore buying a new card would not yield significant improvements? My system specs are: 3770k CPU 16gb RAM SSD graphics card as mentioned above. I currently play at 1920x1080 with most settings on Very High/Ultra and get 50-60fps in most places. Fog and lighting sometimes cause a little drop. I actually use a 4K monitor and while playing at 4k would be great, I would be more than happy having a consistent 60fps playing experience. Regarding how much I would be willing to spend... I like the idea of dropping £650 for a 1080 GTX but don't like the idea that in 6 months it will probably be £200 cheaper. Advice welcomed. Thanks
