  1. Buckle up! I overdone-did it. Maybe you guys get to that point. Got there with OG Skyrim. One too many mods and the FPS gets assassinated. Familiar territory again with SE. Listen, if you're still reading, I'm not looking for a miracle lol, just your thoughts on some things. I'm gonna share some of mine. Don't beat me up too bad. - I use Vortex - I'm at 1017 installed mods. 241 active and 131 light - I've never used XEdit and don't know how - I've never made a merged/bashed patch, although I know how and have w/ Fallout - I've always installed mods (never uninstall unless textures) mid playthrough and have had little perceived issues or broken saves - I've ran into save game CTD and fixed it with load order. Surprisingly, because this isn't me trying to toot my own horn here, this has really been my only snafu that was game breaking for a minute - I'm not a complete dummy I guess. Know my way around ENBs, inis, DynDoLod, Nemesis, Fores, DAR, etc. Right now my world space Skyrim is a slideshow. Too much to bear. And when this happened with original Skyrim I pretty much just quit, which I don't want to do right now. I guess what I'd like to know is: - When FPS gets too LOW does it break physics? I want to know if what I am experiencing is engine related or mod conflict related. Things get especially borked around water as well. - I'll just get a new graphics card like last time right? Availability aside, I have a 2080 oc 8 gb VRAM right now. I don't want to upgrade my card for just one game, but how much from an engine limitation/mod overload standpoint do you think this would help make it playable again? And this kind of goes into my first question, because if my issues are mod related than I know I'm on my own lol. - Merged/bashed patches...I guess my question is how would this change my Skyrim experience and do these help with performance at all (I would think not) - XEdit... I'm willing to learn if I understand better what the gains are. I guess I'd rather hear from the community or layman how difficult using XEdit is and what the reward in doing so is as well. Thanks.
  2. Thank you kind person. So what I did was delete wrbrazier01.dds and wrbrazier01_n.dds from that folder path. Once I did that and redeployed my mods Vortex warned me a mod was changed outside of Vortex. The mod in question was this one: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/25514?tab=files In the comment section a user had a similar issue, as well as some other users posting about some issues with this mod. Regardless, removing these files fixed the problem. I'm surprised that this single texture affected so many items and that I don't have any other mods that retexture this. Thank you for your help in resolving this issue. It is much appreciated.
  3. Hello, I'm having issues with my Whiterun braziers, both the standing ones and the bowls at the front gate and Dragonsreach steps. Strangely the only conflict I found is with High Poly Project and Illustrious Whiterun parallax meshes but regardless of which mod I load after they still look the same. So I guess doesn't that mean the problem isn't the mesh but rather the texture? I have the same problem with one of my mortar and pestle bowls, one of my dining cups, and the jug and pots normally found in the ruins. I don't know how to fix it and it's driving me crazy. Using Vortex and run pretty stable with 774 mods. Despite that I don't think any of my installed mods retextures those braziers, that bowl, or that cup, so it seems like those meshes are breaking vanilla textures? Is it plugin load order? Do I have some random misplaced file causing issues or corrupted saves? Possible parallax issues? I don't know. I do know after scouring through all of my installed mods that I don't believe a single one addresses all of these items. For example I found wrbrazier and wrbrazierbowl.nif meshes in high poly but nothing about the affected pottery or the mortar and pestle. Any troubleshooting help would be much appreciated. I've broken this game more times than I can count and usually don't ask for help but this has me stumped. https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/images/69000 https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/images/68999 Original post: https://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/8648918-weird-texture-issues-on-random-items/ This current issue is specific to Skyrim SE; however I have had this issue before on vanilla Skyrim. Back in those days I didn't use a mod manager and manual installed everything, so I had more problems than just this.

  6. I'm looking for a texture replacer for the wood on Dragonsreach Bridge in Whiterun. I'm pretty sure this texture may also be used on the wooden watch tower directly outside the Whiterun door. If you could recommend an overhaul that addresses this texture as I couldn't find a standalone mod for it. Or if you know the texture.dds name. Thanks.
  7. Well I'm glad there were some replies that at least opened up a discussion. Always good getting a dialogue going. To answer some of these responses: - @ greekrage: I am glad you are not experiencing this problem. I'm not sure what you mean by a "setting to slow down texture load times"... that sounds like the last thing I would want. I am curious to know what resolutions you are running the game at and the extent of your retextures (full overhaul, 2K, 4K, optimization project, etc.) - @ JimmyRJump: you have a source that substantiates the claim that the problem started after patch 1.3 - 1.4? I am curious if this is actually a true statement, because if it is you would think (hope) that the issue can be reversed. To my knowledge the problem was there since the beginning. The texture load workaround mod author actually states that 1.3 "fixed" the problem. To your second point, I don't use ENBoost specifically. I use an ENB preset (XCinema, which is awesome by the way). Newer iterations of ENB have the ForceVideoMemorySize= option in enblocal.ini. I've tried using it in the hopes that it would help eliminate the problem, but to no avail. With respect to the overclocking responses, I don't go crazy with my clocks. I like turning my card fan speeds up and have found a very nice stable boost/memory clock that nets me 3 - 5 FPS. Overkill depends on what exactly you want to accomplish. For me its stable frame rate first and foremost, but I will freely admit I am a graphics wh*%#. I want the game to look as good as it can. I game on a 60" LED tv so I use downsampling a lot (2560x1440, 3200x1800, 4096x2160). When you add in things like 2K and 4K textures, AA, ultra shadows and godrays, my 'overkill' rig will buckle and break. That's the beauty (and the burden) of pc gaming. Understanding your rigs limitations is key. But I have seen this problem when dropping down to 1280x720 resolution. I guess I could use GPU-Z to check VRam usage under load, but this seems more like a bug than anything else. P.S. So if I were to verify integrity of game cache, I would ultimately assume I'd have to pull my texture, meshes, and materials folders out as well as my esp's and enb, correct? I think I already know the answer to this because I did it with Payday 2 when I used to play it but I'm curious now...
  8. Over a year later and this is still an issue. I have yet to find a true fix for this, just tweaks that may help out minimally (if at all) or just straight up snake oil. I have tried the .ini tweaks from texture load workaround : http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/808/?tab=4&&navtag=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.nexusmods.com%2Ffallout4%2Fajax%2Fcomments%2F%3Fmod_id%3D808%26page%3D1%26sort%3DDESC%26pid%3D0%26thread_id%3D3399670&pUp=1 I use an ENB and have tried ForceVideoMemorySize=true and all the ridiculous formulas people recommend. It has only ever made the problem worse. Setting it to false is the only thing that minimizes the problem but doesn't fix it. I have also changed out 4K textures for 2K ones to lessen VRAM load. I have dropped resolutions and the main offenders of performance (shadows, godrays, etc.) SPECS: i7 4790K GTX Titans SLI (6 gbs VRAM) Samsung 850 EVO SSD 500gb 32gbs RAM (I know) Look, I know it's Bethesda. I know I'm gonna experience some lag and some FPS dips. I have been installing mods and playing their games since Oblivion. That's to be expected (unfortunately). I went into Fallout 4 with the intent of keeping my load order as lean as possible (currently I have less than 20 esp's in my load order). But this missing texture garbage is for the birds. Seeing a god awful base texture in a loading screen or a mailbox I walk past or a window on a building immediately annoys me to no end. It destroys any kind of immersion you want to have in the game. And while I've seen and read countless 'fixes' for this problem, it still remains. A game I looked forward to for so long that has been ruined by a problem that was never an issue prior to this game. So a year later I guess it's time to resign myself to the fact that this will not get fixed. Time to move on or hope there is something I missed that truly does work in fixing this. Someone please tell me that is the case... P.S. Since I am ranting, how about the fact that I can't overclock my cards when I play this game or I will just open myself up to a random crash. That's cool.
  9. That's interesting... I didn't realize that hot files were tailored by personal preference... I thought everyone saw the same hot files. Another thing is when I go to Nexus I am never signed in... reason being that you can see the pictures of the mod when you click on recent files versus when you sign in it doesn't show the pictures anymore. Eventually I do sign in if I download a mod obviously, but I can never recall seeing the hot files change. Then again, I don't download nude mods or skimpy outfits... I care more about pretty much every other mod than those. Maybe it is user error on my end I guess.
  10. ...in latest files/most recent files? I check FO4 Nexus every day. Today I see Super Mutant Redux and Unofficial FO4 patch, which is the first I have seen these. I hop on the Nexus, check out the hot files, scroll down and check out the latest files, then click on the most recent files and scroll through until I recognize mods from the day before. I'm just wondering why I see these hot file mods that I seem to miss with this method. It makes me wonder what other mods I am missing that don't show up on the hot files, unless these are older mods that got new updates and become a hot file? That's the only thing I can think of. That or they are new mods that immediately become hot files.
  11. So here's yet another bunch of textures that cause CTD. -ToasterPreWar_d.dds -ToasterPreWar_n.dds -ToasterPreWar_s.dds Most likely also from GraFix overhaul mod. These will CTD when in crafting/junk menu. Once you get to it in the menu it will CTD. Keep in mind there is another set of files that can cause CTD in random places that are different from these: -Toaster_d.dds -Toaster_n.dds -Toaster_s.dds Pretty sure the normal and speculars are fine, it's the diffuse files that cause the CTD. Also, and very interestingly I might add, I ended up downloading another overhaul mod that had the Toaster (not prewar) retextured. I believe it was http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/7003/? I put it in and didn't have any problems with it until the Beta patch. I am no expert, but I think that this file may have memory leak in it. The reason I am speculating that is because in my task manager I would be approaching nearing 6gbs of memory usage before CTD. After removing it I was down to 3gbs in the same location. This leads me to believe that this particular file is not a fault of modders. I mean, two modders retexture the same file and both mods cause a CTD? It also coincides with what the GraFix overhaul mod author was saying when it was reported on his page (this originally was not found by me) and he could not find anything wrong with his retexture. UPDATE: Confirmed it was that mod. Just read the comments posted.
  12. @direwolf Thank you...that would be extremely helpful to people like me who have retextured over 90% of the game manually. I am not looking forward to narrowing this down. It might be worth making a new thread of listed texture files users have found that cause a CTD. UPDATE: Well I now know it is a texture in my props folder. Unfortunately I have over 400 files in props. Once I find the file causing the CTD I will post in this thread unless a new one is made. UPDATE 2: Found it... Fallout4/Data/Textures/props/cigar: CigarSingle_d.dds CigarSingle_g.dds CigarSingle_n.dds These must have been from a mod overhaul/retexture project as I don't see any standalone mods that replace these files. Unfortunately I do not know which mod these files came from. For that I apologize.
  13. This is getting ridiculous. I had a random CTD prior to this patch that was related to "toaster.dds" that (I assume) was part of the GraFix Overhaul mod. Removed it and everything was fine. Now we have the two posters above with random texture files causing a CTD. I tried both by the way and it didn't cure my CTD with the new patch, yet when I revert back everything is fine. The mod author of GraFix overhaul said there was nothing weird or out of the ordinary with that file which would cause a CTD. So the real question is, why are these texture mods suddenly causing a CTD when they weren't before? I can't recall a single instance of a CTD caused by a texture in Skyrim or previous Fallouts... it always seemed to be .esp related, at least in my experience. What is going on? It seems to be unpredictable and random at this point, like patches are corrupting texture files? I wish someone would get to the bottom of this nonsense.
  14. Interesting, I've just downloaded a new gore mod that was released today which overrides gore overhaul, but I am still crashing specifically in and near Sanctuary. Still tried removing the gore bits files but still crashing... unclicked Fr4nsson's Light Tweaks as another user suggested and still crashing. Reverted back and everything is fine. I don't use any base building or settlement expansion mods/esp's either... haven't even built a base yet, just playing the missions + exploring... info that may help narrow it down. I've tried to keep my load order/esp's to a bare minimum. I have retexture mods on nearly everything, so process of elimination will suck... I had a weird random CTD before that was caused by a toaster.dds file in an overhaul package. Reverting back for now I guess.
