Do not put mods/downloads into your Vortex install directory!
bhsup replied to Tannin42's topic in Vortex Support
I am so glad I read this thread! I guess it's finally time to break myself of the habit of manually installing a lot of things to C:\BIN that I've done since the 80s. (along with C:\DAT,. C:\UTL, etc). I did a dry run with the custom installer and manually moving the download directory, but it didn't work like I planned, so went searching and found this thread. To Tannin and everyone else here, thank you for educating me on why things are now done the way they're done. It'll be hard to adjust, but I'll get used to it. -
In response to post #55629476. #55629726, #55629751 are all replies on the same post. *derp* Thanks. Feeling pretty stupid right now.

What in the world happened to the changelog for mods? I don't see it anywhere on mod pages anymore.

Not skipping Helgen! I did a search for skipping and that's what kept coming up, but that's not at all what I mean. I realize this is an off the wall request, and I don't expect it to gain any traction, but I figured it couldn't hurt to ask. What I am hoping is someone would just love to make a mod that makes the character skip happily around Skyrim. Like this... http://i.imgur.com/auZMMiu.gif Well, maybe not exactly like that, but that's the general idea. Thanks you for taking the time to at least read this. :)

Smoke 'em if you got 'em... without altering stats?
bhsup replied to bhsup's topic in Fallout New Vegas's Discussion
I suppose that's what I'll look into if cordelionreaver's suggested mod below doesn't pan out. Thanks. :) Great, thanks! -
Does anyone know of any smoking mods that do not act like a chem, changing your stats? I really have no interest in getting a boost from taking a drag, but I'm a smoker in real life and would love the opportunity to light up in game. I simply have no desire for it give my character any boosts. So far, all of the mods I've found boost your stats and / or skills to some degree.

Yes, I can read the posts fine on the mod page itself. But those are in reverse order and I prefer to read mods that have a lot of posts as a forum thread due to this. Still, it's a functional workaround in the meantime.

http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/1653963-bhsup-formal-warning-issued/ Yes, that is a lovely way to be treated. Not a private message addressing the issue. My username forever emblazed in the forum as though I'm some sort of common criminal. Yeah, I didn't realize a mod I uploaded wasn't permitted because it contained some original skyrim files. I do regret that and I'm sorry, but this is a ridiculous way to treat someone who thought enough of the site to become a lifetime premium member. Well, I have deleted all five of my mods because I don't want to dare risk something that would possibly cause my account to be banned since apparently you guys are completely lacking in common decency and courtesy. But what chaps my hide is that tonight I tried to read the forum discusssion for the following mod: MEUITM - http://www.nexusmods.com/masseffect/mods/1/ What happened? I click on posts and then view forum thread, which sends me to: http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?showtopic=1247570 which gives me the lovely message of " You do not have permission to view this forum." I fire up IE and paste in the URL and I can view it just fine not logged in. Log in in IE and *BOOM* right back to "You do not have permission to view this forum" again. Thanks. Really.

"In other NMM news, and perhaps exciting news if you're easily excitable, we've implemented a search box in to NMM at long last. It should be pretty self-explanatory as to what it does; typing in the search box will show you mods that contain the text you've written. And a quick-tip: pressing CTRL+F will focus the search box for you when in the mod tab." I love you man!

LE Hearthfire Request: added bedroom wall
bhsup replied to flyingkitty67's topic in Skyrim's Mod Ideas
It exists and it works great! It is called "Some Privacy Please" and is here: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/32563/ It is actually a collection of four mods. The first one "Bedroom WIng Walls" is what you want. Be sure to heed the description, though, and not install the square table w/chair from the workbench in the master bedroom. It's not a huge thing if oyu have, I guess, but the wall will just go right through the table. It goes through the workbench as well, but as you remove that when you're done furnishing the bedrooms, that's not a big deal. I also use the second mod. It called simply "Doors" and adds doors to the upper floor bedrooms. I don't use the last two mods as I use a custom Hjerim mod and the 2nd mod "doors" includes a default Lakeview door already. IF you install both of those first two mods (or any combination I suppose), be careful in NMM and be sure to select "NO" when prompted. As they use the same mod title and same version number, NMM will want to treat it as an upgrade and remove one before loading the other if you say yes to the prompt. If you do both mods, that makes a total of six .esp files you will be adding. Most will need to be scrubbed with TESVEDIT as follows: someprivacyplease_bedroomwall_lakeview.esp: 11 ITMs, 0 UDRs. someprivacyplease_bedroomwall_hjaalmarch.esp: Clean, no scrubbing needed. someprivacyplease_bedroomwall_pale.esp: 2 ITMs, 0 UDRs. someprivacyplease_door_lakeview.esp: 4 ITMs, 0 UDRs. someprivacyplease_door_hjaalmarch.esp: 3 ITMs, 4 UDRs. someprivacyplease_doorl_heljarchen.esp: 4 ITMs, 0 UDRs. Hope this helps! EDIT: From the wording of your post, I am guessing you've already built the square table... I am not sure what you should do in that case. Maybe go into console mode, click on the table and type "disable" then leave and re-enter the house? (FOR THE LOVE OF THE DIVINES, SAVE BEFORE YOU TRY THAT!)- 2 replies

How friggin' stupid am I? I never, ever thought to use drag and drop in NMM before. I always clicked on the "add mod from file" option and navigated through the explorer window. Now I know, and everyone knows what GI Joe says :)

In response to post #10450567. Yeah, I'll definitely second this. From what I've been reading, you folks have been putting in brutal hours. Take the weekend and say "stuff the nexus" for a quality 48-hour shore leave. You'll come back recharged, and hey maybe with some funny stories to tell as well :)

Got very quick replies over there. It's honestly a bit over my head, but it really does sound like they were fixing a bug. I'll miss the dual resist magic enhancements, of course, but not enough to not use USKP, that's for sure. Here is the link where I initially posted, and then a few posts after that where it is addressed: http://afkmods.iguanadons.net/index.php?/topic/2804-relzwipz-unofficial-skyrim-patch/page-16&do=findComment&comment=148856

Glad I found this. I was trying to figure out what I'd done as well because of the exact same issue. Based on what you said, I checked the changelog for the USKP and found the following entries: v1.0 - (2012-04-07): The level 32-39 Shield of Solitude (10EB63) now has the correct level enchantment, not the weaker one for the level 25-31 versionv1.0 - (2012-04-07): Fixed the following weapons and armor not being improvable at a workbench or grindstone: ... Shield of Solitude (9E023/10EB62/3/4/5v1.2.7 - (2013-01-18): The Shield of Solitude was incorrectly set to use impact sounds for light armor and incorrectly flagged as light shield material.v2.0.0 - (2013-10-28): Enchantments MS06EnchShieldL12, MS06EnchShieldL18, MS06EnchShieldL25, MS06EnchShieldL32, and MS06EnchShieldL40 (used by the Shield of Solitude) were all set to the incorrect base enchantment type. (Bug #13615)Just based on date ( and hey, the fact that it is about enchantments ) as I never encountered this until this last playthrough, I'm guessing it's that bug #13615 fix in v2.0.0. It might be a bugfix instead of an accidental error, though. Should the shield have always been disenchantable or was that a goof on Bethesda's part? I'm registering over at afkmods so I can ask in the USKP forum. Tried to search by that bug # to get any relevant information, but I think I am too stupid to figure out their system.

NMM 0.50.0.1 alpha test update released, bug fixes aplenty
bhsup replied to Dark0ne's topic in Site Updates
I don't think this is a bug so much as an aftereffect of how the app is designed to switch profiles, so not posting this in the bug tracker. The issue: Whenever I switch profiles, the process of unloading and loading mods wipes out any scrubbing of unclean mods that I have done with TES5EDIT. As soon as I realized this, I deleted all of my profiles and am just going to have to run it like the old NMM. After re-scrubbing ;) -
Warrior stone won't remove, two stones now active
bhsup replied to bhsup's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
Nevermind. Finally found solution over at UESP in the talk page for the Standing Stones. player.removespell E5F4C -
(NOTE: I posted same topic on official Bethesda Forums, so if it looks familiar...) I fear I have glitched my own game, and given that I am over 70 hours into this character, there is no way I am going to just delete it. Really hoping someone here has some ideas. My problem is that the warrior stone will not remove itself. Unfortunately, I think I did this to myself. I got the Aetherial Crown and loaded up the Lover Stone on it. I wanted to see if I could have both it and lover's comfort active at the same time to really make my smithing level back up fast (I'd made it legendary awhile back.) Here's what I did: Went to Warrior Stone, activated it Went home and slept, activating (confirmed on powers menu) lover's comfort Equipped Aetherial Crown w/Lover Stone, activating its (again confirmed on powers menu) power I now had Ancient Knowledge, warrior stone, lover's comfort, and lover's stone all active at same time Well so far so good, and smithing advances were phenomenal. When I was done smithing, I put my Aetherial Crown away for safe keeping and traveled back to the Steed Stone to re-activate it. Unfortunately I did not notice right away that the stone powers were doubled up and I am long since past any auto or quick saves and my last hard save prior to the bug showing up is many, many hours in the part. I wouldn't even have worried about it too much as my character is a mage, but it's a battle mage and I do actually take advantage of heavy armor and one-handed weapons, so I really feel like I am cheating running with that stone active at all times. I play on the PC, so I searched hoping to find some console command to deactivate the warrior stone, but I didn't find anything. Hoping someone here has a suggestion that might pan out. Below is a screenshot of my active powers menu showing both stones (steed and warrior) currently active. All equipment removed so only base powers are showing up. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you http://www.bhsmo.net/pub/img/games/skyrim/warrior_stone_bugged.jpg

Dragon Age support for NMM, DA2 support incoming, site splits and top
bhsup replied to Dark0ne's topic in Site Updates
Okay, seems to be doing fine so far. Question, though. The .dazip addons seem to be being added to the addin directory instead of the packages/core/override directory. Will that cause any issues with loading or is that not an issue? Other than that little concern, it's working like a charm so far! Did a few downloads from Nexus, did a few installs from file for downloads I had from IIRC bioware's social site, etc. -
Dragon Age support for NMM, DA2 support incoming, site splits and top
bhsup replied to Dark0ne's topic in Site Updates
Sweet Maker, yes! I'll go through dragon age, uninstall everything via the currently used DAO Mod Mgr. and then reconstruct with the new NMM. Also love that you're splitting DAO and DA2. Thanks so much :)
