  1. What about crafting new armor and weapons based upon old designs? Instead of the rotten, dessicated armor that's available.
  2. Okay, mistakenly posted this in the Mod Talk forum. Hopefully that will be cleared up. Here it is in the RIGHT forum! While playing Skyrim, I've come up with loads of ideas to improve the game. Problem is, I don't have the patience or the skill to craft these into Mods for people to enjoy. So at least I'll share them with those who can turn these ideas into working game improvements. I will post more on this thread as they come to me. Use them freely, and you don't need to give me credit. I'm sure plenty of my ideas were thought of by others, but I hope I contribute something. Hunting -When an animal is wounded, it's health continues to deteriorate as it flees. You must track down your prey and recover it. Makes quick kills more desirable. -When you make a kill, even if it is not wildlife, predators and/or scavengers will be drawn to your location. Bandits, poachers, hunters and others may also be drawn. If you do not get to the kill first and loot it, you may lose it and it's loot. -Rename “Elk” and “Deer” - “Nordic Elk” and “Caribou”. -The ability to craft trophies and perform taxidermy. Trade in furs, meat, bones and other animal loot becomes more advanced. -Craft armors and clothes that match the terrain. Snow and ice, forest, prairie, mountain, swamp, etc. -Slaughterfish have raw Slaughterfish Fillets -Wild Mammoths – Mammoths with uncarved tusks. More aggressive, but can be hunted. Ingredients -Living versions of Frost Mirriam and Elve's Ear. -Living Garlic – Just scale down Leek plants! -At advanced levels of alchemy, new ingredients are available from sources (rather than Merchants) -Clams – Meat AND Pearls (Small Pearls = Rare, Pearls = Very Rare) -Spriggans yield Spriggan Sap -Mammoth Tusks can be turned into Powdered Mammoth Tusk -Eggs and Nests – More realistic. Small clutches of eggs, smaller eggs (instead of one big egg). -More bee hives. Also, add Beekeeping. Hives can be bought and installed, honey and bees be harvested and respawned in hives. -Farm Grindstones turn Wheat into Flour. Guild Ideas Thieves Guild -Clean up the filthy Flagon and Guild! Clean up grime, add more lighting. -More camouflage for secret tomb entrance. More plant cover and/or lookout? -Marry within Guild, more companions in Guild. -More unique loot and treasure quests. Companions -Fix up Jorrvaskr! Repair roof holes, improve grounds. -Certain quests yield special weapons, which can be displayed as trophies in Mead Hall. -When Harbinger, you can decorate the hall as you like. Your spouse may sleep in your bed. -Spouse Companions have larger beds and you can share their beds. Quests -”Agent of Kynareth” All wildlife peaceful, though will defend themselves if attacked. “Command Animal” ability, lower level starts with weaker animals and goes up. Spriggan allies. Quests to protect the wilds. Main enemies: Poachers, trappers, Forsworn). Hunters are allies, or yield to Agent. Ranger/Druid-type character. Only accessible after Gildergreen Quest. -”Agent of Hircine” All predatory wildlife are peaceful, prey animals more wary. Beast Form/shapeshifting abilities. “Berserk” mode. Rival agents challenge you to hunts. Werewolves are violent unless a higher-level ability “Command Werewolf” ability makes them yield. Ability to collect trophies. Only after Ill Met By Moonlight. -Improve Grey Quarter- Only after completing Stormcloak or Legion questline. Stormcloak – Must convince Ulfric to improve the Quarter, improve relations with Dunmer. Legion – After Ulfric killed, there are immediate efforts to help the Dunmer. Open trade relations within and outside of city, funding for business improvements. Windhelm becomes a hub of more immigration of Dunmer and others. Fix up Refugee's Rest. Temporary camps/housing outside of Windhelm and around Refugee's Rest. Racism still exists, more community dialog. Argonian and Khajiit also arrive, less welcome than Dunmer. Some Dunmer still hold 'slaver' notions. Fictional Dunmer character or Rolff are murdered, causing great friction between sides. Solve murder to reveal some sort of third party plot. Rolff – (Stormcloak) Main opponent, fights against immigration and improvements. (Legion) Troublemaker, gets thrown in jail. Brunwulf – (Stormcloak) Acts as Mediator between Jarl and Dunmer, (Legion) Leads efforts to improve and encourage Dunmer and Gray Quarter. Also sympathetic towards Argonians and Khajiit. Belyn Hlaalu – Main voice of the Dunmer. Represents community and mediates. Also sympathises with Argonians and Khajiit, but mostly focused on Dunmer. Has more power after Stormcloaks. Ambarys Rendar - More powerful after Legion wins. Doesn't care about Argonians and Khajiit, wants all focus on Dunmer. Other/Random -Spouses have more activities at home. Can run errands and work outside home. -Bookends – Placeable artifacts/objects that can be placed between or around books on bookshelves. -Fireflies/Torchbugs – Animated motes of light that appear to be swarms of fireflies. -Help Beggars More – Donate more or 'sponsor' them, then beggars leave (“to go where they can prosper”). New beggars may arrive. Donate more to dragon-attack farmers. -Adopt Animals! Stray horses can be sold or given to stables, farmers or Stormcloaks/Legion. Can adopt horses (ownership 'official' by buying 'tack and supplies' from stables.) Stray dogs can be adopted as personal pets or 'house pets'. Also can be given to families, farmers, businesses or guilds to stay. -Become Orphanage Sponsor Donate food, clothing and money. Expand Orphanage. Add garden, livestock. Fishery, Meadery, Inn, Jarl, Blacksmith, Apothecary and Temple offer work and training for kids -Revive old Nordic weapons and armor.
  3. I was heading south along the road after clearing out the Sundered Towers (near Karthwasten) when I came across two boys on the road. Just prior to this, I took out a pair of Forsworn camped along the road by a looted and trapped caravan. Seeing these two boys (Sond and Bottar) wandering around where there are Saber Tooth Cats, Forsworn, Orc Hunters and plenty of Bandits just ticked off my 'maternal instincts'. After threatening to 'take them over my knee', I followed them as they took off down the road, since I was wondering where the hey they had come from. Of course, they happened to be 'wandering merchants'. But two boys running around in the Reach, snooping around Dwarven Ruins and SOMEHOW avoiding all the dangers out there (even if they are Essential) just seems very weird. >>'
  4. Hello! I'm sure this has been discussed, but after a great deal of searching online I have gotten conflicting information. So I thought I'd throw this question out to you guys to try and get a clear answer. In November of last year I did a major upgrade to my Gateway 300L (A 2004 model). A new Biostar A880G+ motherboard, a AMD Athlon II X2 250 processor, 1.75 GB memory and a new power supply. I had already upgraded my hard drive to a 300 GB model. The motherboard has an onboard AMD Radeon HD 4250 graphics processor, and it's actually running fairly nicely. A little bit of expected lag with higher graphics settings, but on medium quality it seems to run just fine. Viewing the map lags a bit, which I can deal with. There is some issue with shadow striping and occasionally there is a bit of stipling/striping on other objects. Skyrim Settings: http://i1238.photobucket.com/albums/ff495/CariceLaur/skysett.jpg http://i1238.photobucket.com/albums/ff495/CariceLaur/skysett2.jpg The Radeon Settings: Smoothvsion Anti-Aliasing and Anisotropic settings are on Application Settings, Catalyst AI is disabled, Mipmap is on the first Quality Setting (slider is on the 3rd setting to the right), Vertical Refresh is "On, unless application settings say otherwise", Adaptive Anti-Aliasing is on Quality and OpenGL Buffering is off. The driver is updated, and I even rolled it back and reinstalled. Now, the issue I'm having that is the most annoying is that my game is missing one of the best parts of the Skyrim Graphics. There is no fog, no steam, no smoke, no dragon fire and no mist! What a gip! Now, I'm assuming that perhaps this issue is simply a matter of my system not being able to run those graphics at it's current power, and I need an upgrade of memory or even a new graphics card. I'm not in a rush, since I can play the game at decent settings and still enjoy it. But if I can get it to run those additional graphics and not suffer an FPS loss, I would be tickled. So any suggestions? Or should I just be patient until I upgrade again? Thanks!
  5. While playing through the Stormcloak campaign, was in one of the camps and a thought occurred to me for a mod idea. If you chop wood, farm and mine to assist the citizens, why can't you do so for your troops? Imagine feeding and caring for the horses, chopping wood for the fire, cooking good meals for the troops and supplying weapons, armor and other services to your men. Assisting the quartermasters in keeping the troops supplied. Acting as a courier or even fetching supplies from other sources. It would boost their moral, and give you some sort of blessing or perhaps a bonus with their loyalty to you. Seeing the Stormcloak soldiers, huddled around a fire and a nasty Skeever on the spit made me feel sorry for them! Why can't I cook them some good food, heal their wounds or tend to their weapons? Hey, I'm just that kind of woman. Imagine raiding an enemy camp and finding a tent full of wounded enemy soldiers. Sure, you could mercilessly put them out of their misery, or perhaps after taking out the camp you can heal their wounds and allow them to return to their homes? Or even join the cause. Or at least take them prisoner and have them transferred elsewhere. On a related note, I can't help but feel the forts and camps taken down are too good to pass up for your own side. Transferring under-equipped, vulnerable camps to forts you've taken. Basically fulfilling the 'garrison' quests to the fullest. This may be a simple task of some scripts, or it may need some real time and effort to put into it. I already spend enough time PLAYING the game, and I'm not at all experienced with modding. So there's my two cents. I really should start putting out more of my ideas, though it's certainly not as good as actually making the mods myself. ^^'
