  1. With bluray disks you can fit 40 GB of data, which is more than enough to fit all of Cyrodil in the game. Have a campaign in each country as well as a bunch of side missions. To do that and make it good would be a massive undertaking and possibly too expensive to develop just to sell the game for only $60. They might have to split some of the regions up as DLC.
  2. First of all, here is a link to a Character planner which I'll be using to highlight some builds: http://mugenmonkey.com/darksouls/ *Note: Weapon and armor in the below builds are my preference, and could be customized somewhat. I prefer the 53 poise threshold for most of my builds, which allow you do take a hit from a Greatsword 2h R1 and not be staggered. Although its not that necessary now since great swords can't chain anymore in PVP after the nerf. The next lowest would be 31 poise to hit another threshold to take a katana 2h R1. The best light armor combination for balanced defense is Dingy robe + wanderer's manchete + maiden skirt, then use a Mom's Mask or Dusk Crown. If you don't want/need 53 poise then a wolf ring (40 poise) + that armor combo would be another option. Or another option would be to replace the Wolf's ring with Havel's ring, and use Dingy robe + Havel's Gauntlets + hollow soldier waist and get 35 poise, and have slightly better physical def. Also every build I list is capable of fast rolling, which means under 25% equip burden. It can be the difference of winning and losing. Or getting hit and avoiding it. Level 100 builds: Dex/Pyro http://mugenmonkey.com/darksouls/?c=4075330393641814 Its a cookie cutter dex build with some pyromancy. I list this first because in the hands of someone that knows what they are doing its one of the most solid build types out there for PVP. The great scythe is great for dead angling people, if you don't know what that is, its basically a hit box on an attack that allows you to hit around someones shield. Falchion is also another good dead angling weapon. I do switch in a composite bow in my main hand secondary slot sometimes. --------------------------- Mage build w/Moonlight Greatsword (Or you could use an enchanted Claymore) http://mugenmonkey.com/darksouls/?c=2196032337384725 Its pretty solid all around, not typical for a squishy mage type. But it has most of the goods you would want for a mage, Crystal Soul Spear, Dark Bead and Pursuers. I love this build when dealing with gankers. --------------------------- Str/Faith http://mugenmonkey.com/darksouls/?c=4377902361229802 Has Darkmoon/sunlight blade to buff with, uses a Large Club. If you want to be a sunbro, just use sunlight blade. I normally go for backstabs/riposte using a build like this. STR builds get off easier on hybrids due to 27 str having an effective scaling of 40 when 2 handed. The downside is STR weapons typically got crummy move sets. --------------------------- Str/Int http://mugenmonkey.com/darksouls/?c=4420210726146737 Similar to the above build, except int instead of faith. ---------------------------- Dex/faith http://mugenmonkey.com/darksouls/?c=4537194608759619 Had to make some cuts to VIT and END to make this work at level 100. I got a build almost identical to this that I do very well with in the Arena. --------------------------- Dex/Int http://mugenmonkey.com/darksouls/?c=4006487917389677 Uses a Falchion, Composite bow and Tin Crystalization Catalyst, spells are Crystal Magic Weapon, Dark Bead, and Pursuers. Not many spell casts, but they pack a punch if they do hit. ---------------------------- Black Knight Greataxe build http://mugenmonkey.com/darksouls/?c=2021345887409607 I personally like the weapon, its got a good move set for a heavier weapon type, and this is just a build made around it. Nothing special, just BKGA pwnage. You could take 2 from endurance and put 2 in dex and use Gough's Greatbow. Its fun in certain situations like dropping some items near an edge, waiting on an unsuspecting invader to grab the items, then knock them off. --------------------------- Quality build, etc good with all weapon types/scaling http://mugenmonkey.com/darksouls/?c=3193339966208769 Normally its 27 STR to 2 hand a weapon and get an effective STR of 40, but in this case I put 1 more in STR to give the option of 1 handing a Murakumo which is a pretty good weapon. This is the build you want if you want weapon variety/effectiveness to be very high. If you want to use the Murakumo and be able to fast roll, here is another variation on the build: http://mugenmonkey.com/darksouls/?c=2510914815400812 Same stats, just the armor/ring setup was changed to allow for this. ---------------------------- Troll build http://mugenmonkey.com/darksouls/?c=2946414267494895 Back up against a wall hold up the Havel's greatshield and poke. Its more of a joke build than anything serious, but you would be surprised how many people I've beaten with this. You got a bow if they try to run away and heal. The idea is to give your opponent a slow and humiliating defeat.
  3. Yeah, PC version has a trainer. I use the trainer, but I use it to make legit builds, meaning the end result is the same as if I actually went about it normally. I got a Dex/Pyro, and an INT w/Moonlight Greatsword that I've been using the most. Both are SL 100. Here is the Dex/Pyro build: http://mugenmonkey.com/darksouls/?c=3770668352472733 Here is the INT build: http://mugenmonkey.com/darksouls/?c=2548906303527747 For empty slots I got Pursuers (2 slots) and dark bead x 2. I do pretty good with both in PVP. Occasionally I change up the gear on both those. Sometimes use a Chaos +5 rapier as my second weapon to backstab people. I'm starting to run a 53 poise setup with the INT build, replaced the Bellowing dragoncrest ring with a wolf ring, then used a Tin Crystalization Catalyst, but I drop pursuers and double up crystal soul spear, and throw Crystal Soulmass in there.
  4. I've already been getting tons of hate mail for owning people. The new spells, Dark Bead and Pursuers is where its at. I even got called a hacker by one guy just because he didn't know how to roll. I'd PVP on the PS3 version and rarely get people complaining, why are people so butt sensitive on the PC version?
  5. With a $2400 budget you are making a mistake going with the AMD bulldozer chipset. That is a performance budget, which demands a performance CPU, and right now AMD isn't making performance CPUs. You should go with this CPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819116501 Blows the doors off anything AMD at the moment. And you don't really need tri-sli. That will be 1 less GPU in your case raising the case temp. Which will be a problem unless you watercool everything, and if you did that you would be looking at a $3500 rig.
  6. You basically highlighted the reason so many people are disgruntled with the system. People are tired of choosing between the lesser of evils, and want someone that actually stands behind real and honest principles and is really for America, and not the corporate empire that dictates most of the policy.
  7. Actually I prefer option #2. Because option #1 leads to the American working class gradually becoming poorer over time due to having to compete with an abundant and cheap Chinese labor force. For option #2 to actually work, MASSIVE restructuring of the American manufacturing industry would have to be done. Basically we make what we need and use what we make. Also, we could form a coalition with other countries in the world with similar labor forces, like Canada, Europe, Japan, and make an economic stand against China. China isn't big enough or powerful enough to challenge the entire rest of the world, militarily or economically if we all tell them where they can shove their cheap quality products. The reason this probably won't ever happen because our government is so rabidly corrupt, the politicians are in the pockets of business, and no longer care about the interests of the people, or the American worker for that matter. This is both Republican and Democrat. Capitalism starts to fail in consumerist countries, and is great for growing economies like China. The reason its failing in America because we are being taken advantage of, and our elected officials are allowing it to happen without fighting back. In 20 years America will have next to no industry, and we will be a full fledged consumerist/service based economy. If we don't produce anything we will gradually lose our economic power and wealth. Because consumerist/service based economies aren't sustainable because they don't actually generate any wealth.
  8. Borderlands 2 is one of the games I'm looking forward to. I hope its at least as good as Borderlands, or I will be disappointed.
  9. EVGA X58 SLI3 motherboard (Intel Socket 1366, PCI Express version 2) i7 2.66 with Cooler Master V8 CPU Fan 3 GB DDR3 SDRAM 1333 MHz Zotac GTX 295 1000 watt Ultra PSU Cooler Master 932HAF full tower Vista 32bit (Custom built by me) These guys over here have done a good job convincing me to go with the GTX660 TI. The price should be around $300 and I can add 2 more as I can afford it. My immediate upgrade is memory, OS, and a new programmable laser mouse. It was suggested I overclock the CPU, but for that I'll buy another fresh one to experiment with. Your CPU would bottleneck using multiple GPUs. Especially modern ones. For tri-SLI you need a very good CPU + a decent overclock. Most tri-SLI setups I've seen people either used a SB-E, or an I7 2600k OC'd to like 4.5 ghz +. If you got money to burn you should upgrade your MB and CPU. Is that 1000w PSU modular? How many 8 and 6 pin connectors do you got with it? $229 for an I5-3750k, you can get the I7 variant for about $100 more, but I personally don't think its worth it. Not for a budget upgrade at least. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819116504 Here is a decent motherboard for 129.99 after rebate, SLI capable. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128546&SortField=0&SummaryType=0&PageSize=10&SelectedRating=-1&VideoOnlyMark=False&IsFeedbackTab=true#scrollFullInfo Also its a Z77 chipset, meaning if you choose to get an SSD, you can enable smart caching. I believe that cooler master V8 will still work with that MB and CPU, but if not get a Cooler master hyper 212+ $20 CPU cooler, I personally have the same CPU cooler, and my I5 2500k is OC'd to 4.5 ghz with this cooler. I had to buy an extra fan, and do a push/pull setup, but fans are cheap. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835103065&SortField=0&SummaryType=0&PageSize=10&SelectedRating=-1&VideoOnlyMark=False&IsFeedbackTab=true#scrollFullInfo 16 GBs of ram (Gskill) for $83 which is a good brand. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231556 All that still puts you under $500. Also don't forget that lots of games are CPU dependent, and this would get you a HUGE upgrade in CPU performance, especially if you OD'd that CPU. Games like Skyrim, and Witcher 2 are heavily CPU dependent. I'd make the case for this being a more substantial upgrade than spending $300 on a GPU. You future proof your PC with this, and set it up for more future upgrades.
  10. I had the same problem, so I stopped trying to endorse files. I don't feel like I should have to jump through a hoop just to give a good mod a thumbs up. Makes little sense to me. Its wrong to assume someone is going to remember to go back and try endorsing a file 24 hours later. If what they are looking for is real, dedicated endorsements, and not casual click of the mouse thumbs up after downloading a file, then they have succeeded in achieving that.
  11. I don't know Angie's List either, and think you are most certainly correct in your assessment. My overriding concern with any anti-trolling legislation, would be governments using their new powers to censor the internet, most governments of the world would love to have no free speech on the web at all, and the temptation to abuse anti-trolling laws would probably lead to increased censorship, which I am most certainly against. Once again I agree with your point. Where we may never agree, is my view that extreme trolling, targeting vulnerable individuals and facebook tribute pages etc, should be a criminal offense. For example, the case of Tom Mullany, a 15 year old boy who was bullied on the web, and hung himself. Trolls then targeted his tribute page, making comments such as "Hang in there Tom" accompanied with doctored photos of Tom with a noose around his neck. One of the trollers (Pro Fessor), when challenged about his comments, basically shrugged his shoulders and said he couldn't give a damn about the hurt he caused. That is not acceptable, nor forgivable, and the trollers who post such things, should be jailed, bottom line. What about the Westboro Baptist church and them protesting at the funerals of soldiers that died overseas? Holding up signs like "God loves dead soldiers", and etc. As much as I hate people that do things like that, I still support their right to free speech. Because once you go down the slippery slope, it is a path of no return, and only leads downhill from there. Trolls thrive on negativity, the more spotlight and attention you give them, the bolder they become. If someone is leaving comments on a blog or web page, whoever manages it can remove the comments, and or ban the trolls. Just because a few people want to take free speech to its extreme limits, doesn't mean normal people should suffer from an infringement on free speech rights.
  12. I'd need a little more information about some of your other specs, like how good is your power supply? What type of motherboard CPU socket? What type of I7, and what is the clock rate? What type of PCI-e slot do you have? And how large is your case? Is it a mini tower, or mid tower? All these factor in to what type of CPU/GPU upgrade you might be able to get. If this is a factory model, which brand/model # is it, and that could give me all the above information. If you want a decent upgrade over your GTX 295, you would be looking at spending at least $250. And go for an upgrade like a GTX 570 or Radeon 7850/7870.
  13. There is plenty of lies, half-truths, and misinformation being thrown out in politics, and by political campaigns with the intention of destroying someone's credibility. If that is legal, then what is so different than someone doing that in another manner? Like destroying someones reputation with lies in another manner? Instead of trying to make a legal distinction, and by saying when it is right or wrong, its better to leave free speech intact. If someone is so easily distressed by comments of someone on the internet, then they really don't need to be online, and frequenting places where people make them feel offended. For the same reasons people might say something behind a keyboard they might not say in person, some people might act overly offended by something written by someone on the internet, but if confronted with it in person would keep their mouth shut and move on. Its one of the reasons things can get out of hand in a discussion on the internet, when in person its more likely communication remains civil.
  14. Dragon's Dogma for the PS3/360. Its got some rough edges but overall the game is worth a buy. I still play it occasionally even though I have nothing really left to gain by playing it.
  15. Once again the fail train stops at the Blizzard station. There was an issue within the first month of people being session ID hacked, which meant they didn't even need your password or login info, and it didn't matter if you had an authenticator. I believe one of the recent patches fixed that exploit. But my brother who still plays D3 told me that there is still an exploit through the auction house where people are buying out items for minimum instead of maximum buyout. Just yesterday he told me he put an amulet up for 5 million buyout with a 1m starting bid, and 2 minutes later it sells and he gets 850k, basically 1m minus the 15% transaction fee. Only way to prevent that it seems is to set the minimum and maximum buyout as the same price, meaning no bidding. This particular exploit has been going on for weeks and Blizzard still hasn't fixed it, but they are proactive in hot fix nerfing skills and builds with no notice or info in the patch notes.
  16. http://forums.runicgames.com/viewtopic.php?f=30&t=31847 They finished up polishing act 2 just a few days ago. Which still doesn't mean the tweaks are 100%. Seems like they got a ways to go before the full release. I doubt it will be this summer, and maybe we can hope for sometime before November?
  17. Dark Souls for the PS3/360 is going to be released on the 23rd of August for PC. It has a pretty large following of players. One of the major issues is that the game is going to be a rather crummy PC port, and is no doubt going to spark a modding community for the game to improve it. Any thoughts on hosting a mods for Dark Souls on the Nexus?
  18. http://www.bit-tech.net/news/gaming/2012/08/10/battle-net-breach/1 I got a D3 account, but I don't really care enough to check if its been hacked or not. As far as I'm concerned if some hacker got it, they can keep it. Just thought I'd share this with the ones who have a D3 account and actually care.
  19. Did anyone else manage to play it when open beta was up? Just from playing the beta, which is only act 1, its a substantial improvement over TL1, and is more like Diablo 2. Instead of 1 dungeon with multiple floors like TL1, its open maps areas similar to Diablo 2. And a change of scenery with each different act. They have stated that there will be a NG+ with increased difficulty and better drops. This game honestly reminds me more of Diablo 2 than Diablo 3 does. Its hard to scale the difficulty based on just playing act 1 in NG, but I'd say its comparable to D2, or D3 act 1 normal. Some enemies near the end of act 1 hit for pretty punishing damage. The difference is in TL2 is the melee attacks don't track you and you can avoid them mid swing. Some spells will home in but you can outrun them and reposition to avoid. Decent gear dropped, including several legendary items, and frequently enough where you didn't really have to worry about running into a gear check, you could make progress in the game, and you could even progress if your gear was crap if you were careful. By the end of act 1 by Embermage had pretty terrible gear compared to what my Berserker had, but I still did good, because the skills I used for damage with Embermage weren't weapon DPS based, but I had to kite some mobs that my Berserker could have face tanked. I don't mind kiting as long as I'm kiting and killing and not kiting + tickling my enemies to death like in D3. Also the bosses were the hardest fights. In this game elites/champions aren't harder than the bosses. And unless you are built to tank, you will have to kite and avoid attacks, and reposition during boss fights to win. I like how they mixed the skill trees up with some skills that were dependent on weapon DPS, and there were also a few that had set modifiers based on character and skill level, so they would be useful even if you didn't have great gear. I also think the classes are much improved over TL1. If anyone played D3 and was severely disappointed and is hoping for another ARPG, TL2 is definitely it. Its a vast improvement over the first game. This game has better itemization, better classes, better mechanics, and better character development than D3.
  20. Its pretty clear to me that it is Israel's motive to get the US involved in a war with Iran, and for that I despise their government. It makes us look like hypocrites supporting Israel, while outing other countries for human rights violations, when Israel is a huge human rights violator for what they are doing to the Palestinians. No wonder the world hates the USA. We take the hypocritical moral high ground while backing countries who commit atrocities if there is some sort of political reason for it. There is no way we got the right to denounce China or Syria, for human rights violations when we back Israel who basically put an entire ethnic group behind a wall. As far as I'm concerned the Israelis are no ally of ours. And if I had anything to say about it they would be getting 0 military or financial aid, and would be denied to purchase any weapons technology from US companies. I'd make a demand of Israel, and I'd only make it once, go back to 1967 borders, and treat your neighbors like humans, or be alone in the middle east. Most of the land taken after the 1967 borders was Jewish extremist settlers running Palestinian farmers off their lands. And they are still doing it to this day. And the Israeli military supports them. And this whole mess with the superpacs was started when they passed the Mccain/Feingold bill. It basically opened the doors for an unlimited amount of finances to push an unlimited amount of vitriol during elections. There are limits on donations to specific candidates, but anyone can donate as much as they want to a superpac, whether its a corporation, or a very rich individual. Getting elected is more about who can get the most vitriol on the air to smear the other candidate and destroy their public image. The American political system is truly pathetic.
  21. I don't like England's policy and infringement on freedom of speech. And that means I'd never support their government, or their country financially in any way, nor have any desire to ever visit there as a tourist. I pretty much feel that way about most of Europe, and not to just single out England. Trolls are going to be trolls, and its better to just ignore them, or if they are on forums, just ban them. They do a very good job at banning trolls here. Some might say that people say things on the internet that they wouldn't say in person, and sometimes that may be the case, but I also get the impression that people act like they have incredibly thin skin on the internet, and are perceived to be troll bait by trolls. The thing about trolls if they know they can get to you, then they will. If they think you really don't give a damn, then they will leave you alone. What is wrong with just blocking/ignoring/banning the trolls, why get the law involved? Even racist groups here in the USA have the right to speak their mind in public. I don't agree with them but I support their right to free speech, and that they are free to make themselves look like the ignorant bigots they are.
  22. Individual websites can set whatever rules they want, but general freedom of speech doesn't mean you have the right to not be offended. So any laws making "trolling" illegal, is just a slap in the face to free speech. It sounds to me like there is no such thing as free speech in England. Even if there is free speech, that doesn't mean there aren't consequences for what you say, you can be ostracized by your peers if you say something incredibly ignorant or even racist. Laws to reprimand these people isn't really needed. Freedom of speech also means you are free to speak and make yourself look like a fool.
  23. December 21, 2012 is going to be just like any normal day for most people, besides all the nut cases thinking the world is going to end and decide to do some crazy stuff. But that will quickly come to a wraps when December 22nd arrives and nothing happened. Or it could be the day that ET decides to stop by and make an official introduction to humans in this time period
  24. I would absolutely refuse to fight for this country unless we are being directly invaded by a foreign military. They can send me to jail. Neither are there any "supposed" allies I'd lift a finger to help. There isn't a single war being fought currently that is worth the single life of one of our soldiers. Using the patriotism of citizens as a recruiting tool to further the aggressive foreign policy of this country, which isn't going to benefit the best interests of the American citizens is a villainous act. Initiating a draft to fight such wars is grounds for treason. Its looking like things are going to get ugly with Iran in the near future, and if they are looking for meat shields to defend Israel, they can count me out of that one. We should be spending more time utilizing the untapped resources we got here in the US instead of playing geopolitics with oil resources in the Middle East, and getting involved in Israel's disputes. I don't see any reason why we couldn't just forget about that entire region. What are they going to do attack us from the other side of the world? Don't think so. They can talk all the smack they want. The demand for petroleum is going to have a limited life span, its not going to last forever. And the countries who have economies dependent on oil exports will cease to become threats once their income sources are no longer as profitable. Risking so much for a resource we probably aren't going to be using much of 100 years from now isn't very wise.
  25. I find it hard to believe he was intimidated by just political rhetoric. If that is true, and he was then he is not fit to be a Supreme Court Justice. I remember when Bush appointed him, and he stood his ground in the Senate against against the Liberal critics. He came off as someone who had a very strict interpretation of the Constitution, and had a professional manner about him. Came off as a very intelligent man who was calm, cool and collected. The complete opposite composure of someone you would think would cave in to political rhetoric. I don't need to wear a tinfoil hat to put that together.
