  1. If you're using politicians as an example for lack of common sense, its not a very good example. Most of them are the way they are because they believe the population is really that dumb. And for the most part, they're right to assume that. The average IQ in the USA isn't even in the triple digits anymore.
  2. I don't feel like its up to me to decide which lives get taken, and would not consider it my responsibility to do anything in the situation of #1 or #2. #3 is different, whereas my own life is on the line, and I'm gonna do whatever I think I need to do to survive. I'll try not to suffocate the baby.
  3. I'm still running crossfire 6970s, and I don't plan on upgrading for awhile. I'll probably wait another year and a half and just get a monster single GPU card. I'm definitely going Nvidia next time. Their driver support is always better than AMDs.
  4. My opinion? You should have just saved up $500 and built a PC from scratch. For $500 you could build a solid base rig that could be upgradeable for many years in the future. With that current setup you squeezed the last little bit you could out of that motherboard that is already really, really old. Something like this would be budget: PCPartPicker part list: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/1MD4S Price breakdown by merchant: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/1MD4S/by_merchant/ Benchmarks: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/1MD4S/benchmarks/ CPU: Intel Core i3-4130 3.4GHz Dual-Core Processor ($129.98 @ SuperBiiz) Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-B85-HD3 ATX LGA1150 Motherboard ($89.99 @ Amazon) Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($68.46 @ NCIX US) Video Card: HIS Radeon HD 7850 2GB Video Card ($149.99 @ Amazon) Case: Antec One ATX Mid Tower Case ($46.24 @ Amazon) Optical Drive: Asus DRW-24B1ST/BLK/B/AS DVD/CD Writer ($18.48 @ Outlet PC) Total: $503.14 (Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available.) (Generated by PCPartPicker 2013-10-09 03:48 EDT-0400) Reuse the 500w antec if possible, and of course reuse your HDD. This might not be what you want, but its an example of what you can do with $500. That $500 PC could smash Skyrim or any of the top games right now. And don't underestimate Intel I3 processors, they're known for whipping AMD flagship CPUs in gaming.
  5. Corrupted graphics drivers can cause issues. I personally had a similar problem recently on my rig with games running @ subpar performance, and doing this fixed it. You might want to do an uninstall of all graphics drivers, then use drivesweep to make sure all traces of the said drivers are removed. Then reinstall. Google drivesweeper, its a freeware program. #1 uninstall the drivers & run drivesweeper #2 reboot and reinstall drivers #3 reboot again. Be sure to install the latest Nvidia drivers as well. Also, something else you might want to check is how many programs you got running in the background. They could be using CPU resources and slowing your gaming down. There is a program called Razer Game Booster, that shuts down non-essential processes in the background while gaming: http://download.cnet.com/Razer-Game-Booster/3000-18512_4-10913645.html I used it on my older PC and got a decent FPS boost. You might want to try that. It may or may not work depending on what is causing your problems.
  6. The government has had non-essential services shut down for 9 days, and I'd bet a lot of people don't even know it. Meaning its not effecting their lives in any way, shape or form. The sun rose and set for 9 days already, and the sky isn't falling. This whole thing is being overblown, and its not nearly as serious as people are making it out to be. State and local governments can function without the Federal government.
  7. Everyday lives will go on for the country and most who don't even keep tabs on the news won't even know the government shut down.
  8. I don't really care that much if someone is a racist, even if they personally hate me because of my race. I don't have to associate with them. I don't get why so many concern themselves with trying to change the views and thought processes of others. The ones who try to impose their views on others, in my opinion are more dangerous than most of racists are. I couldn't give a damn less about making the world a better place for "Humanity", nor would I use that as a facade to impose my views on others. If a person tells me they don't like White people, and don't want to be around White people, then why should I care? Am I supposed to have some sort of emotional knee jerk reaction after hearing those comments?

    Syria

Regardless of whether or not attacking Syria is justified, or even a good idea; Obama doesn't have the balls to go against the Russians on this. So he is looking for a way to back down while saving as much face as possible.
  10. Yet I'm not seeing any more than rambling from you and none of this evidence to the contrary. The people they claim built that site had NO WRITTEN LANGUAGE. Someone cannot enginner something on that level without a written language. There isn't another example anywhere in the world of a culture building a structure on a similar level with no written language.
  11. I believe they exist and that they've been to Earth sometime in the past. Google "Puma Punku" - you should find pics like these This is one massive chunk of stone here, several hundred tons if not a few thousand tons. http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_VoFM4aW7x9A/TNzmiSPonSI/AAAAAAAADxg/w2Gxa2lyaCc/s1600/toppled-axumite-obelisk-500.jpg A modern recreation of some of these blocks created with precision machinery: http://www.gizapower.com/Puma15.jpg Not only is there a dovetail joint, but they clearly intended for some of those blocks to lock in a way to use as a hinge for a massive door. Impossible to make something like that with hand tools, which is why they used a precision machine to do it. Some of these blocks stacked and locked together like legos, which is a very complex form of prefabricated contruction. Not only is it prefab contruction, but they achieved a level of repeatability on those blocks that is absolutley impossible to do with hand tools. People have taken precision measuring tools to those blocks and did comparative measurements as well as squareness and flatness, and its extreme precision on a level not possible with hand tools. This is different from any other ancient structure because of the amount of precision that went into these blocks, and the clearly displayed repeatability. I'm saying that someone other than humans made these. They can't even get a difinitive date for the age of contruction. Some estimate 1500 years old, and others claim they are over 10,000 years old. There is a site nearby these strange blocks that is confirmed to have been made by humans: http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-RUL6uu2srrw/UWbr1P8txCI/AAAAAAAAC70/em9URlQnQrw/s1600/Puma-punku5.jpg Again this is typical of ancient contruction techniques, they more or less fit together whatever blocks they had in random sizes to make a wall. This is NOT what was done with Puma Punku. I believe the builders here tried to copy whoever build Puma Punku, and did the best their technology would allow. Admirable effort. No possible way humans could have contructed Punka Punku. Absolutely impossible.
  12. Hate crimes laws aren't fairly enforced. Like for example, lets say you got a mob of Black people butthurt over George Zimmerman being acquitted, and they target a White person to lynch and say "This is for Treyvon". That SHOULD be a hate crime, right? Unfortunately most courts in the USA wouldn't seek hate crimes charges. If the racial tables were turned and it was a mob of White people lynching a Black person they would be screaming "Hate crime" all over the media.
  13. Your CPU could be the bottleneck in Skyrim. Try disabling shadows on grass, and that will get you some FPS without really taking away too much immersion. Skyrim is more CPU intensive than most games. Because it uses the CPU to render the shadows. In most games shadows are done by the GPU. This is especially the case if you got mods that put more grass + larger grass. You could be rendering a whole lot more shadows. Also how high are those texture packs? Are you using an ENB pack? A single 7850 might not cut it for some ENB packs. Turn off SSAO if you're using an ENB pack.
  14. Is this $1200-$1400 USD? I think you could do a whole lot better for that budget. Also Nvidia 7XX series is out, and Haswell is out, so you're better off getting a Haswell + an LGA 1150 motherboard. No reason to upgrade to already-old components. Also there won't be any more CPUs for LGA 1155 boards, so you would lock yourself out of future CPU upgrades if you get an LGA 1155 board. When there is probably going to be at least 2 more gens of CPUs that use the LGA 1150 board. As the others said, you don't need an I7 for gaming, you're better off saving $100 and getting an I5, and using that $100 saved to get a better GPU. PCPartPicker part list: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/19PbX Price breakdown by merchant: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/19PbX/by_merchant/ Benchmarks: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/19PbX/benchmarks/ CPU: Intel Core i5-4670K 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor ($239.99 @ Newegg) Motherboard: ASRock Z87 Extreme6 ATX LGA1150 Motherboard ($174.99 @ Newegg) Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1866 Memory ($64.80 @ Newegg) Storage: A-Data Premier Pro SP900 256GB 2.5" Solid State Disk ($159.99 @ Newegg) Video Card: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 780 3GB Video Card ($649.99 @ Amazon) - Monster GPU, almost as good as a Titan. You can save $200 and go with a 770. Case: Cooler Master HAF 912 ATX Mid Tower Case ($49.99 @ Newegg) Power Supply: Corsair Professional Gold 750W 80 PLUS Gold Certified ATX12V / EPS12V Power Supply ($139.48 @ Newegg) Total: $1399.23 (Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available.) (Generated by PCPartPicker 2013-06-24 15:58 EDT-0400) Another option for a GPU is to get a 7970 ghz edition: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814202001 $349 after rebate. It beats a 680 in most benchmarks. You could buy another one at a later date and crossfire them. But you'd want at least a quality 850w PSU to crossfire those. Comes with 4 free games, Tomb Raider, Crysis 3, Farcry 3, Bioshock. Also, if you plan on overclocking you don't want a stock CPU cooler, you want to at least get one of these: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835103099 The great thing about those is you can buy another fan for like $10, and have a push/pull setup on the heat sink, and get much better cooling. Should be able to overclock to at least 4.5ghz no problem. I got this cooler and I highly recommend it. And yeah it works on an LGA 1150 board. Already looked into it.
  15. Several things the Wii-U has going against it: #1. Its a severely underpowered system compared to Sony and Microsoft. 8GB of storage space for the regular model and 32GB for the deluxe? There is just no excuse for this considering how cheap storage space has gotten. #2. Its overpriced for what the system is. $350 for a deluxe model? Really? The PS4 is going to be $399. They're gonna have to cut the price to $199 or cheaper to have a chance at competing. #3. Lack of games. Many of the games are already old multiplatform games. People want exclusives. #4. IMO the Wii-U's pad is a terrible idea. Not only is the pad expensive, its distracting to play on 2 screens, and its more prone to breaking than a pad without a screen on it. Its also a low-resolution screen. #5. It can't play extensive 3D games at 1080p like they advertised. #6. Last but not least, there is nothing the Wii-U does that will attract back the same casual gamer audience that the Wii got. Seeing how it does nothing new or innovative over the Wii.
  16. @Beriallord you almost forgot to tell people to stock up on bottle water and food, acquire a ham radio that runs on a turning wheel, and start to buy gold bullion instead of paper money, as well as don't forget to increase your fire arms count to atleast over 100 handguns and rifles with enough ammo to hold off anyone who comes after any of your food and/or gold. /sarcasm ;D Most people don't need to do the above, and the ones who have ill intentions already know how to minimize being tracked. Which means the government is only trying to catch the idiots. They can't count on the top terrorists being idiots. Which makes the whole purpose for collecting all this data pointless.
  17. This wasn't really news to me because I've suspected this has been going on for some time. If you want any security on the internet to keep them from tracking you then pay for a VPN that doesn't keep any logs, and switch your IP every day. And use a prepaid cell phone, no contract, or any paperwork at all that can tie that phone to you. They got models of phones that don't have GPS trackers in them. Also the new Utah data center they are building is going to have a 5 Zettabyte capacity (over 5 billion terabytes). That is enough space to store all data in the world.
  18. Any reason you need the sound card? For over $2000, you should be able to do a better GPU like a Titan, or even SLI 770s. Also there is a 4GB version of the 770, and in a game like Skyrim, you could definitely make use of that. If I was you I'd find some places to cut and get more GPU power for the $. Also the Noctua CPU cooler is arguably the best air cooler there is, and it even outperforms some water cooling. You should be able to OC the heck out of that CPU with a Noctua cooler, maybe even 5ghz. Also the Z87 motherboard has a feature called smart caching. It uses an SSD to boost the speed of your system by automatically placing your most used programs on the SSD. Which would be your OS + most used games. You don't need a 256GB SSD for this. I got a 64GB SSD as a caching device and it works great. If you're manually storing programs on your SSD while using a Z68, Z77, or Z87 motherboard, then you're doing it all wrong. When they include such an awesome feature as this, there is really no reason not to use it because you can get the best of both worlds, lots of HDD storage + SSD speeds on most of your programs. Without having to micro manage anything. You should definitely try to cut your costs down in some areas and try to squeeze in the budget to SLI another 770. #1: You don't need a 256GB SSD to be used as a caching device, you can get by with a 128GB or even a 64GB. Could save up to $150 or more here #2: Probably don't need that sound card. Save another $160 here. #3 You could scale down a few other parts to make room in the budget if needed. If you squeeze another $150 here then you made up the budget for another 770. This is just an example, and this is in USD: PCPartPicker part list: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/18ned Price breakdown by merchant: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/18ned/by_merchant/ Benchmarks: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/18ned/benchmarks/ CPU: Intel Core i5-4670K 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor ($199.99 @ Microcenter) - This is worth a drive to a microcenter if you got one anywhere near you. CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-D14 65.0 CFM CPU Cooler ($78.99 @ Newegg) Motherboard: Asus SABERTOOTH Z87 ATX LGA1150 Motherboard ($247.99 @ Newegg) - This motherboard is a beast for overclocking. Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 16GB (4 x 4GB) DDR3-1866 Memory ($142.99 @ Newegg) Storage: A-Data S510 Series 120GB 2.5" Solid State Disk ($114.99 @ Newegg) Storage: Seagate Barracuda 2TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($85.99 @ NCIX US) Video Card: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 770 4GB Video Card (2-Way SLI) ($449.99 @ Amazon) Video Card: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 770 4GB Video Card (2-Way SLI) ($449.99 @ Amazon) Case: Cooler Master HAF X ATX Full Tower Case ($169.99 @ Newegg) Power Supply: Corsair Professional 1050W 80 PLUS Silver Certified ATX12V / EPS12V Power Supply ($177.00 @ Newegg) Optical Drive: Asus BW-12B1ST/BLK/G/AS Blu-Ray/DVD/CD Writer ($54.99 @ Newegg) Operating System: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 (OEM) (64-bit) ($99.99 @ Newegg) Total: $2252.89 (Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available.) A gaming PC is strictly business.
  19. Yeah, people shouldn't get their hopes up. I wouldn't put that past Microsoft.
  20. The very best comes out in humans when people are challenged and pushed to their limits. A society where robots do all the work, and everyone sits around and relaxes won't be a healthy environment for future progress. If nobody had to do anything to survive, then why would anyone have the motivation to strive for something better? Necessity is the mother of invention. Early humans had to fight to survive on a daily basis, and in many ways they were much heartier and more adaptable that we are today regardless of all our technological achievements. If people become lazy and compacent, then if something happens that throws a wrench in their lifestyle, then how would they have the skills to survive if they were forced to do something? If water and power were cut off in the USA for a long period of time, lots of people would die in a matter of weeks. The same would go for lazy people who have become reliant on robot laborers to feed them. If those robots were taken away, they would die. Humanity will face another gut check in the future, where the ones who can't, or won't adapt to the new challenging situation will perish.
  21. Do you believe all jobs contribute equally to today's society? What if my job was an "account holder" and I collect interest off a large sum of money and your job (barely making ends meet) was to flip burgers which, on occasion I came to buy and eat, driving an expensive Lamborghini and wearing a super rich clothes made from sweat shops. Would you be opposed to a future where robots were burger flippers (and field harvesters, shelter builders, etc)? EDIT: most vehicle factories are automated now with very little human interaction Capitalism is setup in a way where the people who are the most driven toward personal gain are the ones who are the most successful. The ones who wake up in the morning who are motivated 100% with every fiber of their being to do anything they can that day to make as much money as they can, at all costs, or at anyone's expense. You need drive, and you need brains. One without the other will get you nowhere. All of the richest people in America have that drive. The subjective "importance" of someone's specific job doesn't matter in Capitalism. Has no relavence at all to the wage someone makes. Do I think its fair? No. But life isn't fair. Also most people have a limit to the amount of empathy they have toward others. At some point anyone will draw the line and say "not my problem". For example, I can't cure world hunger, so I'm not even gonna try. And if I'm not trying then I'm not caring either. But if I happen to personally find someone who was hungry and needed food, then I'd probably help them. A future where robots do all the manual labor and crap jobs seems unrealistic, although I guess it could be possible. The problem with robots doing those jobs is that robots are more expensive than humans for most things. Robots like in automotive plants do very heavy lifting, or are programmed to do repetitive precision tasks. Which makes those robots cheaper and more efficient than humans doing those roles. I think human society would stagnate if it ever got to the point where robots are working to feed everybody.
  22. As big of a blunder as MS made with the Xbone, I bet it still sells better than the Wii-U does.
  23. Who is going to harvest the food, build the shelters, educate people, build the vehicles for transportation, etc? Why should those people have to work when most others would get a free ride? I'm not living and working just to carry others on my back. Every other creature on this planet has to do something in order to survive, and we humans are no different in that regard. I'd prefer a society where people pull their own weight. If we allow society to be comprised of a bunch of lazy sloths who don't want to work, then where would we end up? Why would anyone care about trying hard?
  24. I'm running this ENB, RealVision: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/30936//? I got 2 radeon 6970s, and I can't get 60fps with that ENB + all the recommended mods. Using the highest textures possible for all the mods listed. If I leave the FPS limit to 60 in ENB, it gets up to 51 fps roughly at its peak, and 35fps at the lowest. Running @ 1920 x 1080 resolution. So I set the FPS cap to 40. Chances are a GTX 480 won't even run those mods at playable frame rates, you'd probably dip into the teens (unplayable). You might have to get lower resolution textures + use the permormance version instead of the full version. Using 1 GPU I get roughly 15 fps less on the minimum, and 20 off the maximum. Its not exactly double the FPS scaling like I see with a lot of games, but its better than the negative scaling you used to get with crossfire. Dips to 20fps is unplayable IMO. That is some severe stuttering. And when it dips, it dips hard, like from 40 down to 20 just by moving around and looking at fire pit or something. ***Edit at the resolution you're running at you will probably be fine.
  25. Its looking like Sony is gonna go back to dominating like they did in PS1 & PS2 era. For $399, you can't build a PC that can beat it for gaming. And its $100 cheaper than the Xbone. PS4 also has superior specs, a more powerful GPU and also better ram. Only downside is they now charge you for online. But Microsoft has been doing that for years and people paid for it anyway. I rarely played online on my PS3, but for a couple games, so I can live without it.
