  1. I am new to NWN, in fact I just bought it when this site started. I purchased the NWN complete. (Darn it, I bought it a week before the sale.) My questions are: 1) Are there patches out there I should get to fix core game issues or does the "NWN Complete" have them all? 2) Are there popular mods out there which enhance the game? For example, a User Interface mod which enhances the menu system, like Skyrim's SkUI mod. 3) I have Hordes of Underdark, Shadow of Undertide, & Kingmaker. However, are there any modules out there which are very popular for a starting character? I have noted some mods mentioned in other sites for later downloading. Saleron's Gambit, Aielund Sage, The Rose of Eternity, Shadowlands, & Dreamcatcher. Thank you for any advice or assistance, Patchup
  2. he still dies anyway (veezara) Didn't die for me. Showed up later, after moving to the Dawnstar Sancurary, and was all like "You didn't kill me when you had the chance, now i'm going to kill you..... Hahah, Gotcha! I'll be inside if you need me." you sure? i'm not talking about when he is wounded by cicero, im talking about when the penicus oculatus destroys the sanctuary I'm clearly missinterpreting things. I thought you meant that Cicero always dies... The argonian and Anbjorn always die. Nothing i have done has saved either. This is the spoiler section so I will add this: ***Spoiler*** If you spare Cicero when he is wounded at the Dawnstar Sanctuary, he will return after the Penicus Oculatus destroy the old Sanctuary and become a follower. I am pretty sure all the deaths of the main Brotherhood characters are scripted. But, as gsgamer posted, the Dark Brotherhood is not a place for regrets to linger.
  3. I would suggest a clean reload of a previous save-game but I am sure you have your reasons for not wanting to replay. I am not sure those cells are still there in the original state, even if you got in there. I don't know the cell ID. Did you try just turning collision off? console command "tcl"
  4. Oops, I reread the post and had to rewrite my reply. The NMM seems to have some bugs in the latest version. I recall seeing some other posts about this and I have had a few problems using the Mod Manager button. I don't know if it is the NMM or the site.
  5. There are save-game manager Mods out there. They will assist with running multiple characters.
  6. I liked Dragon best. I kept the Dragon armor to switch back to, when I feel I am done with the Daedric. Besides, Dragon armor on the Dragon Born seems to fit better. Daedric armor was a better fit for TES Oblivion. The Dragon Helm looked really good with an Orc character. I prefer the helms that show some of the face, especially on a pretty Orc face. Oddly enough I have never worm a full set of Orc Armor, just the helm over plate armor. My character has a full set on display but that's simply because that's the armor his mom made for him, so....
  7. Skyrim is a fantastic game, glitches and all. Bethesda sets itself up for criticism because the games are so expansive and have so much depth that it is so easy to pick out a pieces and parts that don't fit your individual preferences. If you liked making spells in oblivion you probably have a problem with Skyrim. If you were a melee person you didn't even notice. But I bet you noticed that you don't have to worry about weapon upkeep. One of the lead designers in the Skyrim videos, even said they get into trouble by trying to do so much. We can see that. But we also know that is what MODs are for! If anything makes TES so great it is the creation kit. One of these forum threads has someone saying Oblivion modded is great, oblivion vanilla, not so much. Give the people on this forum six months with the creation kit and I am sure we will see many of the small nit picky issues vanish under the loving touch of a mod. Skyrim will be cleaned up just like the Nords in the game should be cleaned up....oh wait, there's a mod for that!
  8. Genius! I think I see how this all fits. First of all, if the Dwemer were attempting to create a magical construct (the centurions) and sustain a permanent field of harmonic energy (per master Dwemer Kragnac's theories.) they had to solve the problem of soul burn. Obviously, they swallowed soul gems and hopped inside the metal critters. Alas they forgot about the calipers. Silly Dwemer. Wait, what was I talking about?? **************************************************** All joking aside, I would encourage this type of thread, Kudos to you Jacuwi, for putting your ideas out there.
  9. Many of you know this and yet some may not. If you wish to gain dragon powers (shouts) but not go too far into the main quest you can easily do this by stopping just after returning the horn to the grey beards. At that point three things open up for you. 1) A messenger will occasionally find you and give you a location for a word of power. 2) You get a map of where dragons spawn, although I have never had a problem finding dragons....or rather they find me. 3) You can go to High Rothgar and ask the lead grey beard (Anjarnir, no, Arjarner, no, abraham, lets go with, Bob) for a new location of a word of power. As far as I can tell, he just keeps giving new locations, as often as you ask. Anyway, no major Nirn shattering spoiler here, but I don't know how to do that collapsible "spoiler" thingy I see people put in the forums here and didn't want to get put in the Ban Bucket.
  10. Interesting to know about the Ricklings in Bloodmoon expansion. I recall the book on the mushrooms and the idea that the eyes were taken by the Dwarves in treachery. The thieves guild questline adds to some of this. As for the Dwarves role and attitude towards the Snow elves. I think the game has enough torture devises and what looks like torture entertainment areas in the various Dwemer ruins I have explored to make me lean towards a not so nice culture. I recall leading a companion through such a ruin and the NPC making a remark about "...nobody deserves this, not even Falmer..." I have also noted that Falmer have baskets filled with mushrooms. I will have to look and see if they are a certain type. Oh no! I certainly have made many a potion with mushrooms. I would like to think that the Dwemer communities were autonomous and that this treatment was limited to a select few. Certainly, no torture devises were in the Morrowind ruins.
  11. Lydia has been known to lose her head in a fight. I am thinking about marrying Lydia, something about how she says "I am sworn to carry your burden." in this exasperated sarcastic tone just screams... wife. Good thing it wasn't "sharp" cheese. Your very own dramatic death cut-scene. That death has to be up there. It may not be very undignified but it was certainly cruel.
  12. BrknSoul has the solution. But are you sure you didn't loot it already? I know the amulet in Saarthanal exists without the quest being started. It in fact starts it if you loot it. I found that out when my mage did Saarth. before reading the book to start it. I would go check that shady trader whiterun. You might have sold it to him. Oh my theory might go out the window if it is a quest item, which you can't sell or store.
  13. Two things: 1) Yes, my first character looted lots of items form inns and so on, all NOT marked with the red steal. But when I went through on my second character, it was marked in red. I count this as a glitch. Assume all items in inns and other homes are owned. Exception would be books and those mysterious gems. 2) I had Lydia take items out of my own chest and it switched the marker to stolen. I simply gave them to her again, had her put them into the chest and it switched the "stolen" tag back to normal. --> I had a post on this in the technical section and someone else provided the solution.
  14. Yes, Elisef is the Jarl, which is hereditary. High king/Queen is not hereditary and requires the Jarls to decide at moot. You need to do quests for both her and her steward. I would agree that the Office of High King does not, in itself, have power over the other Jarls. The strength, honor, and reputation of the jarl that held the office is what would hold sway over the other jarls. The Nords respect strength. Naturally, the jarl they elect would fit that description. I'm not really a role player, but I might say that Ulfric would be High King, if he won the war. On the other hand, now that the line of high kings is broken, it is doubtful that the jarls would elect Elisef without significant gerrymandering (replace stormcloak jarls with yes-men.)
