  1. I guess you will have to reinstall the game.
  2. Hi, this might sound a bit too obvious, but did you try to set your Skyrim.ini to read-only? I don't really know if this helps, but I would give it a try.
  3. Hey, I have no idea as to what you already tried to fix this, but my guess would be to let steam verify the integrity of your local files. If you don't know how to do this, go to your Steam Library, right click Skyrim, select properties, go to local files, and click verify integrity of game chache. That's what I would try, hope it helps mate.
  4. First off: Thanks a lot for answering. What you said really makes sense, also upon researching that specific line I found many people suggesting this. Sadly, it did not change a thing for me. I edited the Skyrim.ini file first, no change. Then I also edited the SkyrimPrefs.ini, high.ini, low.ini, medium.ini, Skyrim_default.ini and VeryHigh.ini, no change. Applying Read-Only did not do the trick either. Now, all I did was unpacking the textures.bsa and meshes.bsa, nothing else. I deleted the textures and meshes folders and renamed my backups of textures.bsa and meshes.bsa and now it's working again. Weird thing is, I didn't change anything else, I just unpacked those 2 .bsa files. Oh, and even though I still have the '[MapMenu] sMapCloudNIF=0' line in my .ini files, there's clouds everywhere, but at least I can see the map again. I don't get why this isn't working, but still, thanks for your help, I appreciate it. Maybe someone seasoned knows what this is about, I'd really like to know what causes this, as I will have to unpack the .bsa files for modding later on and I would then like to be able to avoid this problem.
  5. I heard taking a nap helps. Did you try that already? If not, try it, might help.
  6. Hey, so I extracted the meshes and textures .bsa files as I wanted to fiddle with the textures a little, and now, when I start up the game and open up the map, it looks like this: http://s1.directupload.net/images/111126/suf4u799.jpg Any help on fixing this? It really compromises my ability to enjoy the game :whistling: E: I did not change any .dds or .nif files, they're all as vanilla as possible.
  7. Tried both ideas, sadly it didn't work either. So, from what you're saying I take it that GIMP always saves with alpha channels. And your suggestion simply negates this feature? Well I'll give it a try then. Thanks for your replies.
  8. Well yes, I know that, it's just that I can't find the option to save this file with or without alpha channels, which irritates me. If it saves the alpha channels its good for normal maps but not for simple textures. Or am I mistaken? I also read that converting it via another tool, in this case DDS Converter 2.1, would yield better results quality wise. Please correct me if I'm wrong, I'm still learning about this
  9. Hey, I just tried to convert a .png file into a .dds file using DDS Converter 2.1, and it just won't let me do it. I searched for almost 1 full hour on means to fix that problem, but to no avail, there seem to be a lot of people having this problem, but nobody was able to help, although there were some ideas, none of them worked. http://s7.directupload.net/images/111126/l2tvcyhq.jpg This is what I get, I can't 'select' it, I do it by leftclicking, I do it by rightclicking and clicking 'Select' it simply won't accept this file. Entering the files path manually won't work either, after I click just anywhere else, the text just disappears. The input format, as you can see is correct, as is the output format, the options are correct as well, as I checked with a tutorial on cs.elderscrolls.com. So, my hope is that someone on here actually let's his genius intellect help me see the probably obvious mistake that I can't seem to find on my own. Any help will be appreciated, thanks.
  10. I take it that would be something the community would know a lot more about as soon as the CK is released?
  11. Guys, guys... That's how giants create powdered mammoth tusks, I though you knew this!
  12. I think I'm not the only person who thinks this would be pretty awesome and from what you said Ghogiel my hopes are up that someone or even a group will try to tackle this idea, it would definitely be quite a feat but a worthwhile one at that. It would probably be the most impressive work if the different body types would be assigned by hand, but this would as well be a huge workload. You're right, the weight slider is an indication for diverse bodies even if only by a small margin.
  13. I actually think that using real HD photographs of a living human being and then throwing them on the provided meshes is the best way to get maximum results in realistic looks. You're right of course, at some point in the, hopefully not so far, future there will be a bombardment of body mods, so you will probably have to first choose the mod that you like best, mesh-wise, and then start working on applying textures. Also something rather Off-Topic, and don't get me wrong, I'm trying to be constructive in giving feedback, I think the faces you made look a little 'greasy', but apart from that it's actually the best improvement for face textures I've seen on Nexus.
  14. Hey, so I've been wondering, I know people are eagerly awaiting mods, most probably also nude mods, with new body meshes and really good HD textures. Yes, I know people are already trying to provide better textures, but in my opinion there's no awesome textures out yet. I know back from my experience with Oblivion, that there will be awesome body mods, but one thing always irritated me with those mods, every single person in the game had the same body, some female argonian thief character had the exact same body as an 80 years old hag in some random hut in the wilderness. So my question is, will it be possible, from what you experienced modders know, to have some kind of pool of bodies, one being slender, another being curvy and yet another being rather chubby and assign them, either by hand or randomly to NPCs? I think it would definitely make the game way more immersive if a smith had a muscular body and some alchemy trader had a rather slender body. I do know that all the armor and clothes would have to be remade to fit the different body meshes and that there would have to be a pool for those as well, but seeing as there were massive amounts of mods that remodeled all the clothing in oblivion for different body type mods, it definitely could happen, provided there can be different body types. So, as far as you know, taking into account that the CK hasn't been released yet, do you think/know/expect this to be possible, or will we get the same 'problem' again?
