  1. In response to post #37144610. Maybe other mods you have installed aren't compatible.
  2. In response to post #37144665. You need open betas, to get more data on what's wrong. Closed beta's aren't sufficient. If you're using a beta, whether open or closed, you signed up to be a guinea pig. So, yeah, it's not ready. If you want to make it ready sooner, start approaching the GECK as a tester and not a player.
  3. In response to post #37130850. #37131075 is also a reply to the same post. Reskins don't change the UI.

First of all, that's not a game breaker; talking to Mama Murphy at least once is an essential part of the game story. Tough break kid, but it is. Besides, I like Mama Murphy. Then again, I like the Longs too. There's nothing game breaking here. And my lack of response isn't because you won some kind of battle. I've been stuck walking to a terminal or power armor once or twice, but not frequently; literally once or twice. I've never had that Jukebox issue. As for getting kidnapped by raiders even though heavily armed? Come on, you're asking for the radiant quest system to be more realistic than it can be. I've never had that issue with Vault 81 residents, then again I'm not a cold hearted bastard and treated the child right away. As for Croup Manor? Yeah, I've had that happen; but I never felt irritated enough by it. Then again, I haven't had that happen to me recently. The only real bug you mentioned that needs to be addressed is the one about ignoring the new traps. I've never had them phase through walls. Sorry dains, you're still full of s#*!. By the way, considering the top part can be modded, I'm sorry; but no more hats for Codsworth.

Before that? I never had a cell reset bug. Like, never. My power armor's stats remained untouched. Also, it only started happening with me when I used Rebuilt Prewar Homes. Basically, any mod that alters the vanilla cells in anyway? You'll have a cell reset bug. Also, I never had my items in the workbench get reset to oblivion even with the mods. So, I get the feeling you're full of s#*! dainsgames.

  8. In response to post #37066830. #37114365 is also a reply to the same post. And once more: what's wrong with the perverted mods? Besides, the one's we'll get will be pretty tame. If you hop over to another place, anything goes~

Most mods just add jiggly boobies, neat weapons, and cool armor and clothes. Only a tiny fraction do any kind of bug fixing, and most of those are good-enough hacks. But, yes, I am irritated by that. Chances are, there may be a mod that does that. Then Bethesda will counter it, then another version that counters the counter, etc. Energy on Bethesda's and modder's part will be wasted on something so stupid. I promise you that Bethesda will probably undo that. And there is the slight possibility that Bethesda will make it very, very hard to disable it.

The profits made from the consoles sales are more than enough to support making versions for PC. They still make plenty of money from us in the minority after all. Good job on the reality check for everyone here; fact is, PC players do not exist in large enough numbers to support a AAA company in the modern game industry.

All the essential mechanics are there: leveling, experience points, skills, stats, etc. There is no rule that says that rpgs have to be turned-based or have poor real time combat. If you mean player freedom, player freedom isn't essential to roleplaying games. In fact, it doesn't exist; whether you play DnD or console/PC RPGs, you can only follow the path set for you. It makes no difference whether that path is set by game developers or a GM. If you are given choices, they are only apparent choices; different routes to the same destination. Even in New Vegas; Obsidian's clever writers do a good job of tricking the player into thinking they actually have choices. As for forced narrative? That's a vague term; but I get the sense you feel as if any narrative is forced. Another thing; players who are parents or even just married felt the story was quite compelling. I am neither married or a parent, but I am inclined to agree with them. While this game's companion characters are still not as deep as NV's, they are still a major step forward for Bethesda; certainly improvements over the one-dimensional meat shields of FO3. I am disappointed that our super mutant companion is a step down from Fawkes; I think there is a lot of missed opportunities with strong. The radiant quest system can be annoying, but thinking about it I would rather have FO4 with them than without them; it's hard to keep a regular supply of caps without them, esp. before you have a decent set of settlements with shops and the like. I won't argue with the AI being s#*!, but a funny thing; on my very first playthrough, I had no AI issues. Everyone did what they were supposed to. It was after subsequent playthroughs that things got weird. So yeah, there is something that needs to be addressed. And I am certain they will be addressed by the modding community and Bethesda.

But maybe none of the lore is broken that badly; maybe it would make more sense for people to stop treating lore as unalterable holy writ. That it is mostly important to stick to the spirit of the lore as opposed to their word.

Personally I am against paid mods, but look at it this way. They're hosting Bethesda.net mods on their servers; servers that they own. You'd only access them with their permission; their servers are their property. In addition, modders content is only hosted there with Bethesda's permission. Content must comply with their rules, which they are in their rights to set. They are well within their rights to start charging access fees to users and rent to modders; considering the server load and the costs of upgrading to something that can handle it, it would make sense from their perspective. Besides, modders might want to be compensated; even if it is a hobby, it is a time and labor consuming one. It'd be nice to be paid for their work, don't you think? But I am against paid modding. Just pointing out that there is a solid case for it.
  14. In response to post #37090155. Then write an article. I've been putting one off myself. Just for the record; I have in no way been defending Bethesda as such. If you look through my posts carefully, I have been pretty backhanded; in the end, I do agree they are scummy as a company, but what I am criticizing is people's expectations that a profit making company can behave in any other way. I do, however, praise it's creative staff and largely stick up for their programmers; they're both doing as well as can be expected laboring under Bethesda's management, who have goals that inherently conflict with theirs. I also call it the GECK, and think "Creation Kit" is stupid. But whatever. I'll also be tackling a number of myths about New Vegas, such as the vaunted player freedom aspect. Bottom line? You didn't have as much freedom as you thought you did in New Vegas.
