How do I clean Dawnguard.esm with SSEEdit?
COMBATFUN replied to MajinnFranky's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim SE
hi there. the main change to clean plugins with the new SEEEDIT version is the -quickautoclean parameter. in my modlist/guide (german): https://www.computerbase.de/forum/threads/lets-mod-skyrim-sse-tuning-guide.1631118 i recommend to read this stuff (english): https://tes5edit.github.io/docs/5-mod-cleaning-and-error-checking.html#s_5-3-2 -
i've seen a modded skyrim on an 27" wqhd premium display and it looked just awesome and he played with stable 60 fps with an rtx 2080 ti oc. as u won't buy that card, i would clearly suggest the premium wqhd freesync display with an vega 64 oc at least. best would be a radeon vii. don't forget: if you have "2 much performance", you can still use downsampling. the pictures is rendered in a higher resolution than your monitor, but again downsized to your monitor resolution, just a moment before the picture is displayed. you get a much better picture that way. +50%(150%) or 1,5x resolution scale is already 4k - if you are coming from wqhd.

hi don't increase ugrid values. let it always at 5 (default). best landscape lods i know has lightweight grass overhaul. superp mod, including much more than just beautiful and fps friendly grass: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/21954 with bethini u can go higher than the selectable ultra values: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/4875 than u can run xlodgen, but for terrain only: https://forum.step-project.com/topic/13451-xlodgen-terrain-lod-beta-for-fnv-fo3-fo4-fo4vr-tes5-sse-tes5vr-enderal than u can run dyndolod: https://forum.step-project.com/topic/13894-dyndolod-beta-for-skyrim-special-edition-and-skyrim-vr-259

Are you using DynDoLOD? I had your problem last year and solved it by deactivating DynDoLOD, starting the game, save, exit, enable dyndolod, run loot, start game, load newest safe, wait for dyndolod sucessfully initialized message. Than i was able to save again without CTD and could continue the game. Are you really sure, that none of your installed mods are for the new skyrim/skse versions? Before deleting/uninstalling the game, i would make a backup and than try to update.
-
Without necessary files as DX files, the game wouldn't start at all. @ vokurekvole Can you see the DLC plugins in Loot and in the data folder of your skyrim installation? Have you checked the data for errors in steam? Right click in steam on skyrim, properties, local data, check data for errors. Have you tried to uninstall the game and delete everything that has to do with it, not your saves although, but also deleted your INIs (xyz:\Users\username\Documents\My Games\Skyrim) and reinstall the game? If that doesn't solve the issue, i also don't know anything further.

Well to get playable FPS rates with ENB in 4k, i suggest to avoid following mods: - ELFX, Realistic Lightning Overhaul - JKs Skyrim - Grass mods (Verdant Grasses, SFO, ...) - Tree Mods (SFO, 3D Trees, Skyrim/Simply Bigger Trees, HQ Treebark with Lush Option, ....) - ENB Particle Light mods (ENB Light, Rudy stuff...) Just install SMIM with some other texture mods (e.g. noble skyrim, realistic water two, majestic mountains, forgotten retex) + your weather mod and ENB of choice. I suggest to install NVT ENB in the medium quality version and then to select medium details in the graphic options of Skyrim SE. Also deactivate TAA. That way you should be able to play with ~ 45 FPS. Everything else is just useful to create some 4k YouTube showcase Videos with 30+ FPS. Not really playable/enjoyable for gameplay, even not with a RTX 2080 Ti. To play in 4k with ~ 45 FPS with above mentioned performance demanding mods in ultra settings (ENB and Game), you will need at least a RTX 3080 Ti OC, if not a RTX 4080 Ti.
-
Important is the unofficial ELFX SMIM Patch, if you have those mods installed. In the skyrimprefs.ini, set the value iShadowMapResolution=2048. You won't see a big difference, but gain some fps in the forrested areas.

Hi, disable dyndolod in the mod manager and try to load the save game. If the game runs again, go to an outside area no matter where. Save the game and close it. Now enable Dyndolod in the mod manager again and place the dyndolod.esm plugin where it was (in your case should be after RSkyrimChildren.esm). If the game now works, wait for the dyndolod initialized message in the game, than save it again. If this doesn't help, you can only disable mods in 40 mod steps and than try to continue the game again. Maybe you can find the mod(s) which are causing the problems and can correct something (update, compatibility patch, loadorder, deinstall). If nothing helps, the bad news bear will come and tell you: Deinstall Skyrim and start again from scratch... http://www.iamhoneydill.com/new-stuff/2017/4/30/percival-the-bad-news-bear

The only way with a chance to solve this, is to disable the installed mods in the mod manager and than try to continue the game. It must be a mesh or script conflict issue, which is causing the CTDs. So you must not disable texture mods or "safe mods" as unofficial skyrim patch. I recommend in your case that you start to disable mods in 25 mod steps. If that doesn't help, the bad news bear has bad news for you: http://www.iamhoneydill.com/new-stuff/2017/4/30/percival-the-bad-news-bear Prepare to start a new game and not with the same mods installed again, because your personal modded version of skyrim is not 100% running correct. Edit: You could also try to load an older savegame and see if the CTDs still happen. If you are lucky, it's just a corrupt savegame. Maybe due to deinstalling scripted mods during gameplay.

Use Loot to sort it dude! Than update SKSE, install Papyrus Util and SSE Engine Fixes.
-
Yeah, but now your faces are vanilla again, aren't they? :) Well everything that edits head stuff can cause the dark/black/brown face bug. As mentioned, in the mod manager the left pane (mod data) and right pane (mod plugins) must be in line. If you run Loot after installing mods that change NPCs heads, it won't be inline anymore, until manually corrected again. Either by manually drag&drop correcting the plugins, or by deinstalling/installing the mods that change npc heads again (incl. compatibility patches) and don't run loot again. Last and best: Fix it in SSEEDIT as explained the link.

That's my recommendation. You can check screenshots how it looks here: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/18149?tab=images Obsidian Weathers: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/12125 ELFX: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/2424 (don't install elfx weathers!) Intrigued ENB: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/18149 Reverb and Ambiance Overhaul: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/701 PS: If using SMIM, don't forget installing https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/5520

To me it sounds like some special AA mode (supersampling? ^^) was enabled in the nvidia driver, which caused the claimed low fps. If so, that would have killed a 2080 ti and probably even faster cards in that resolution.

BethINI is safe to use if the ugrids aren't changed and absolutley recommended. It can also be used with Fallout 4. Allowing higher settings than the normal selectable ultra values. But if you're using the MO2 mod manager, you must adjust the INI path in bethini to the MO2 ini destination. If you don't do that, the changes of bethini are only active, if you start the game the regular way over steam.

The darkface bug occurs, when the mod data loading priority is not in line with the plugin loading priority. this can be fixed by "pros" in sseedit (see link below). the setnpc weight command sets the npc face back to vanilla looking. so in case character mods as wico are installed: they aren't active anymore ! but the dark face should be gone. also this command has to be entered every time, the game is started - for every concerned npc. and there might be a little neck seam, on some npcs. the best way to fix this bug for noobs is: 1) deinstall all mods that change characters (wico, immersive college of winterhold, diversity, bijiin...). also delete all compatibility patches regarding those mods, in case any are installed. 2) run loot and make sure everything is good. 3) install all mods that change characters again. don't run loot ever again now, otherwise you have to do it all again. the bug is now fixed, cause the above mentioned data loading priority is symmetric. If you want to "go pro" and fix it in sseedit, go check the Black-Face Patching Guide (PDF FILE under miscellaneous) here: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/17004?tab=files Edit: The facegen run in the CK sets back the faces to vanilla, just as the setnpc weight command does. So in case mods as wico are installed: they aren't active anymore! But the dark faces should be gone...and some npcs might still get a neck seam.

That CPU is unnecessary for everything that has to do with Skyrim. It makes sense for Battlefield 5 Mutliplayer, PUBG, ARMA 3 if you want your FPS to stay always/mostly above 100 and more in Full HD or WQHD, if you got a really fast graphics card. With that PC setup, your wishes will be possible, depending on your display resolution. It also matters a lot, if you install BethINI beside those mods and max it out. BethINI offers higher settings than the "normal ultra" settings. Keep in mind, that if you use MO2, you need to adjust the INI path in the BethINI, because MO2 has its own INIs and doesn't use the regular Skyrim INIs. If you don't adjust, changes won't have any effect. Be aware that you can only install 254 plugins (+1 plugin for the game). If you want more, you need to merge the plugins, install ESL plugins, do a bashed patch. I would suggest you to buy an AMD processor. I've heard they are only ~1/4 slower and cost only the half. From the safed money, i would then buy an RTX 2080 Ti. I would recommend 2 x 8 GB RAM [or 4x4, if your cpu/board supports quad channel], but therefore the fastest stuff you can get, as ENB Boost operates via RAM and 16 GB is enough to not bottleneck gaming in the next 5+ years. Beside maxing out the BethINI, you can also max out some ENB stuff (shift + return in the game), by setting the quality to ultra. My Skyrim Installation is ~ 197 GB, 560 installed mod files in the mod manager, ~360 plugins (incl. dyndolod and tes5lodgen). I have maxed out everything (well only 4096 shadow res. not 8192, but rest @ max. + imaxgrass=30 in the verdant.ini) and installed it on my friends PC. He has a WQHD display and a RTX 2080 Ti OC. The game runs in outdoor areas mostly @ 70+ FPS, but has drops in certain regions down to 37 FPS. With 2048 Shadow REs and imaxgrass=60 (default verdant ini) ~ +10 fps on that. His cpu is an i7 6700k @ 4,5 GHz and it is mostly bored. There might situations, where it bottlenecks - but far beyond 60 FPS. Even on my i7 3770 @ 4,2 GHz i'm no limited by CPU...in a heavy modded Skyrim with ENB, ELFX...and all that eyecandy. If you want to have a look on my modded skyrim se, you can check my mod list. But it is written in german, so you would have to read the mod description pages or search for diffrent guides: https://www.computerbase.de/forum/threads/lets-mod-skyrim-sse-tuning-guide.1631118 Here some 4k downsampling shots from me, how it can look:

Skyrim SE has been optimized for multi core. It has been done more than just INI Settings for this. The engine status is somewhere between Skyrim and Fallout 4 and much more stable than LE Oldrim. Nevertheless it's still not the holy grale in multi threading, but much better than Oldrim. You can see this yourself, by installing Oldrim and Skyrim SE. Than install MSI Afterburner and activate CPU Thread Usage/Load for each core and compare the results. You will see more usage on the cores and slightly more FPS in SE.

Lupus Hegemonia, a texture modder who stole textures from others without asking them. He edited them, but still it was what it was.

For those who is wondering why skse64+mods stop working.

Yes works perfect as described. I also reccomend to make a backup copy of the skyrim exe. In case you get an update, u simply copy the backup exe and overwrite the installed updated exe. Keep in mind: After an update, you must clean all files again with SSEEdit. Dawnguard.esm even twice. Loot doesn't show that! -
The problem is, it depends on what needs to be edited for the compatibility patch. This is done in SSEEDIT. When and why you need the CK, i don't know. Maybe QWINN can help with that, as he made a lot of those patches. Try to ask him: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/users/1511152 Otherwise i found some stuff via goole... https://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/754151-tutorials-without-youtoob/page-2&do=findComment&comment=6035531

Hi, MO has its own INIs and doesn't touch the original Skyrim INIs. If you start the game over MO, you must edit the inis of MO. If you edit the regular INIs, the changes have only an effect, if you start the game regular/not over MO. The MO INIs can be found in the "profiles" folder of your MO installation. The original Skyrim INIs can be found under "documents" in the "my games" folder, there under "skyrim special edition". In case you are using BethINI, you must correct/enter the directory to the MO2 inis in the BethINI, if you are launching the game over MO. You can also access the MO INIs over MO and do your changes there: Don't forget to save your changes

I suppose your loadorder has been looted with the last version of LOOT? If not, you know what to do... Beside this you should try the following in such cases: - Check for updates on mods, especially skse related stuff as papyrus util, race menu... - Clean the plugins again with SSEEDIT. Clean Dawnguard.esm twice! This procedure needs to be redone after every official update of the skyrim.exe - Try to load a diffrent savegame, where you are outside/external. Than save the game, close it, restart it and try to continue playing with the save game you just created
