  1. so, i walked into the Alienage and like a moron, tried to open up Valerian's door even though it's locked... now, after finishing the slave-trade plot line, i want to go and talk to Valerien. but, now the door to his house is no longer activate-able! is there some way to fix that, or am i just going to have to miss out on his dialogue? i really hope not. i hope there's a console command, or some way to reset the area, or something... i just got click-happy, and clicked the wrong door!

  2. For the record, I fixed the issue a while back, but in case someone else runs into a similar problem, ill post my solution:

Basically, I wiped ALL trace of DAO from my computer: all of my mods, save games, program files, document files, everything... Then I Reinstalled it using the ORIGIN client while running it as an admin. I then installed all of the official DLC addins using DAO Mod Manager, also as an admin. I then ran the 1.05 patch as an admin. At this point, I opened up the game (a window opened up, saying something like "you cannot play this game because there is a problem with your installation/ user validation [i don't remember which any longer] i fixed THIS problem by running the origin repair function.) At this point, I started a new game to see if I would have the same issue as before with a "clean" version. And it WORKED! I could play normally.

Then, I installed all of my mods in batches: I started with the chargen mods, installing 4-5 at a time, starting a new game with each new group of mods. Then, I installed NBAIO, and NVariety v4 (I really thought these were the culprit, but I was wrong.) Next I installed the dialogue mods, then the game fix mods, etc.

The funny thing is, I never actually figured out what the problem was. I dropped a few mods for the final list. Which leads me to to conclude that it was a mod conflict, but I have no idea which cantankerous mods were screwing me up.

Now, for my problem: i've been playing for quite some time, with little to no problem. i follow everyone's advice and restart my game every hour or two to avoid memory leakage. and by and large, it's gone off without a hitch. that is, until i entered redcliffe. i got the town ready, and tolled the mayor, i was ready to start the battle. no cutscene played, there was no green smoke, and the skeletons wouldn't come down the hill by themselves (i had to aggro each group as they summoned.) further, damage and effects for all of my party, and the ally's actions, were significantly delayed: the animations for their spells/attacks would play, but the enemies wouldn't respond for 10-30 seconds later. i could barely survive, because this made using healing poultices/spells worthless, and also allowed enemies to hurt me, and mine (which all seemed to occur in sync with their hits) far longer than they should have been able to do so.

finally, i gave up trying to kill them off in game, and i just spammed the "runscript killallhostiles" console command.

once that was over, the after fight cutscene proceeded as normal.

finally, moving up to entering the fade to free connor from the demon (with the circle's help),

interesting bug but didn't have any bearing on gamplay itself here: the desire demon in the last area of the fade spawned inside the ground, about halfway up ( i tried to upload a screenshot, but the file was too big)

every conversation about 5-10 seconds in, slows down almost entirely. each time i spoke to the fake connor, when i spoke to the actual demon, talking to isolde and teagan afterwards, connor after curing him, and once i finally got back to camp, even my companions/ the elf from TWF (she's new, from the last time i installed it)

i have scoured google, the nexus forums, the EA forums, everywhere i know to look. and, while i find people who have had a similar issue, i have yet to find any actual answers, or fixes. to date, i have tried using origins repair utility, dropping my video settings to bare minimum (disabling vertical sync, AA, lowest resolution setting, lowest settings for each slider, and disabling shadows in the ini), disabling sound ( i got a CTD while loading camp).

i would have tested my mods, but when i disable all of them using DAOMM, my game crashes when i try to force load the save (i cant very well figure out if it's one of my mods, if i cant get into the save without them, can i?)

if ANYONE has a fix i've yet to come across, please let me know.

  5. Okay, there must be something in conflict with my system, specifically: the same issue is occurring on a COMLETELY clean install of the game.

  7. Just started a new game and, after talking to the two humans in the dalish elf origin, and both my character and tamlen are floating! i can walk, and move around. but i don't seem to be able to move on the Z axis in game. as i walk, the ground moves down, but i don't! it's the weirdest thing!

    anyone else have this happen?

EDIT: it was pointed out to me, that i'm a moron, and didn't post the mod list/DLC's so i'm posting them up top here, for visibility.

  8. haha, that's my bad. i should have read the readme's, once you told me i had to pick one. i didn't even think to check to see if that information was there.

as for which tools i'm using, the first one is the DAO Mod Manager. ive seen lot's of acronyms for it, but maybe i'm using one that is incorrect. the second, is here: http://www.nexusmods.com/dragonage/mods/3928/?

when i was finished installing all of my intended mods (after turning them into .override files), i right clicked each of them, and then clicked check for "compatability". the only two that were not, as far as i could tell, were the 2 dialogue fixes. from there, i just compared the two parent folders, and it only showed me the one conflicting file. i didn't think i needed to spend time digging manually, if there was something that could do it for me. but, i guess i was wrong.

i really appreciate the help though!

  9. starting a new play through, and i'm doing my best to catch conflicts early. from what i can tell, the only conflicts that may arise (according to DAMM, and DirConflict tools) are the Dalish Mage origin dialogue fixes, and ZDF dialogue fixes. they both use cir230_cullen.dlb. has anyone else has dealt with these two enough to know whether they play nicely or not?

and if not, how crazy of an undertaking would it be to edit the file, such that they can work together, having never tried modding anything?

and how i could go about doing that?

  10. I have been looking for a solution for DAYS with no luck, trying to solve this weird issue with DAO-Mod Manager: when i try to use it to create a.override file (i want an easy way to manage ALL of my mods, not just the dazips) i simply cant do so.

i am on windows 8.1, and i have tried both the 1-9d (most recent) and the 1.9 releases (someone on the comment section of DAMM suggested it was a bug from the most recent releases). i have run DAMM as an administrator, and in compatability mode for xp, and xp service pack 3.

to be more specific about my problem, it occurs when i enter the "override creator" tab within the program. i click the "new override packet" button at the top, name the packet, and then i get stuck: no matter what i do, i cannot put any files or folders into the program. it simply will not let me drag and drop anything into the "drop your files here" section. no matter which folder is selected in the menu, or which files i'm trying to add, it just will not accept the files. it gives me NO error message, or any response at all, except my cursor changing to the circle slash cursor.

google has turned up nothing, i cant seem to find an answer on these forums either. and my usual go-to for help, reddit, was no help either. i'm really hoping somebody has figured out what the hell is going on with the program, so i can actually play these mods.

    thanks in advance.
