  1. I saw FPS loss too!! Darn, thought it was something i imagined. God dammit. And i have a dual core which they 'optimized' in this patch. wat do!
  2. Hear hear! I think this is true for a fairly large portion of the "skyrim-is-too-hard" players. They rushed things and thought that level = powah. People should note that the game scale as you level.
  3. I've made a mage with a dab of thief as i sneak and use bow from afar. As a mage you will of course use robes, otherwise would be blashpemy, though many would argue that heavy armour for mages is far better than robes (in one sense they are, since magicka regeneration is gimped). What race are you playing? Breton? Altmer? Level 4-12 are pain for the mage. It will get better when you get perks like impact and spells like fireball and ice storm. To make it viable you should consider using the sneak skill and a bow in combination so you'll get 3x sneak damage. Here's some tips: - Conjuration is a must. Many people don't fancy a pet class (moi) but then you can focus on raising the creatures you have slain instead, gives it some variation. It is vital that you have something that can soak up the damage, a companion will fit the same role. - with robes you are quick and agile. Use your speed to gain distance. Never be ashamed/afraid of fleeing from combat. - Use runes in combination with silent casting to set up traps in advance. - Alchemy is a must. Try to get 130 hp fairly quick and then dumb the next 10 levels in magicka. My lvl 21 mage has 130 hp and the rest in magicka. Go for a 80/20% or 85%/15%. Just enough so that you wont get one shotted by bosses. Also: There's a consensus among players that the mage class is very weak and therefore hard to play. Everyone struggles as a mage. It's considered a broken class in many aspects compared to the warrior and the thief. Many exploit the crafting skills to their advantage but you should really avoid this. Take up alchemy and a bit of enchantment. This will suffice.
  4. Imperial. Stormcloaks are really racists towards anyone who isn't nord but especially khajit, argonians and dunmer.
  5. I am a bit thorned on this one because i want to avoid having 100% reduction on, say, destruction spells and the way to impose this restriction is probably to stay away from enchantning. I'ts funny though, how the Skyrim Guide handbook states that you should try to max your mana regeneration. I don't question you, i know it's broken. It's a shame I am level 9 btw and boy my spells do little damage.. Using destruction, illusion, restoration and conjuration. Wearing robes, no armour. Gonna need that mage armour perk in alteration i think. Conjuration skill skyrocket in comparison with the other constellations. I think it's 40 now. Thanks!
  6. I'm sorry if you misunderstood me but i think there is a (albiet thin) line between hard but doable and impossible. If i run out of mana before i kill a mob in a simple 1v1 fight, that would make a mage build obsolete and thus impossible, as in, i would have to draw a sword to kill my foe. I say impossible because the distinction between thief, warrior and mage implies that you can play each class within a well defined frame of mechanisms. Really looking forward to your thread!
  7. Why would anyone chose Stormcloaks? Siding with Stormcloaks will result in the Thalmor taking over the entire Tamriel region. What aboud all the Nord blood that was spilled in The Great War? And Ulfric is a racist, arrogant fool. At the Thalmor embassy there's a Journal that states that it would be highly beneficial if the Stormcloaks won the turmoil and who would side with the Thalmor. Thalmor is the root to all evil! If you're not playing an evil character I see no reason for joining the Stormcloaks.
  8. I really want to play a pure mage but I have inferred from the forums and minor experience with the class, that it is gimped beyond any other style of play in game. I want to avoid what seems to happen with all my characters; At a certain point, generally around lvl 23-25, I become omnipotent in every aspect of my character (playing adept, warrior or thief; bow): It takes minor to no effort completing objectives and thus I have abandoned these characters and started from the beginning. The mage class seem to pose quite a challenge and oh how I love magic. Would a destruction/restoration/(conjuration) mage with chunks of perks in stealth be viable without the, arguably abusive, enchanting strategy of 100% reduction in one or (with the 100 perk) two schools of magic? I will still pick up stagger and use alchemy without buying herbs from a shopkeeper and also use bound bow and daggers. Is the mage class doomed to be tough playing the first 20 levels, until stagger and 100% reduction enchant? Can it be done? - bonus question; is it possible to sneak attack with a spell using the silent cast perk? inb4 I used to be a mage, like you, then i took an arrow in the knee. regards!
