  1. Well since we're jumping to the reinstall now, did you make sure to uninstall all mods before uninstalling Skyrim? To really get a fresh install, you need to: Uninstall all mods Uninstall skyrim Completely delete the Skyrim folder in your steam directory Go ahead and move/archive your skyrim folder from "My Games/Skyrim" to get rid of any .ini tweaks and dirty saves.Otherwise, changes will be left behind that will give you a CTD. If you do all that, start up Skyrim with no mods, see if you can hear music. However, back to the main issue. You can hear EVERYTHING but background music. The only thing you did was update Falskaar...Yeah I don't think there's anything in Falskaar that would cause the vanilla music to not function. Did you have any sound overhauls installed beforehand?
  2. Eh, well at least I remembered the number! Haha but yeah, that is a lot and that's the point I was making there. Is what you quoted all you can see of my post, btw? It looks really weird to me...
  3. I agree with chanchan05, that's a pretty weak setup. I'd suggest reducing all the settings to ultra low and work up medium.
  4. It's been going on and off lately, as everyone will tell you. Be patient and wait till the servers are back up. If you can't be patient, try downloading manually (as mentioned by cloudmage) as those servers usually are up first.
  5. Stupid Question: You can hear everything else though, right? Real Question: Installed anything since the music last worked?
  6. I don't know if this belongs in general tech support or mod troubleshooting, but we'll figure it out as we go. The main issue: Skyrim boots just fine, bethesda logo, then main menu. However, at the main menu, background music does not start and menu options are completely unavailable (Invisible and cannot select even with "enter" key)! The game doesn't freeze, I can still bring up the ENB settings and adjust them, but I cannot bring up the console. Also, when I bring up my task manager, skyrim shows "Running" and takes about 270k memory. It was running fine a month ago (Haven't played) decided to play and ENB had an update. So, I installed the new ENB and some new mods...Problem ensues. I use SKSE of course and I just have the default ENB (I've tried default settings and trying to tweak it). When I updated ENB (to V. 0.243), I also installed: Interesting NPCs (V. 3.03)High Quality 3D Map (V. 2.0)A Quality World Map (v. 8.0)Lamp Follower (V. 2.0)I updated: Immersive College of Winterhold to V. 2.0minor cosmetic/model modsMajor mods I had installed already: Dual Sheath ReduxFNISSkyUIRaceMenuAll Unofficial PatchesThose are the major ones I think could effect it as well, but frankly, I got a lot of mods (240 in my load order)! BOSS Log: Like I mentioned though, it worked before I did the updating. I've run BOSS, SkyProc Patcher, FNIS Generator, and TES5 Edit, none of which came up with any major errors (ran as before). Any help would be appreciated  before I go tearing through my load order, and starting a whole new game  !PROBLEM SOLVED! After some more troubleshooting, I got it to work by -of course- going back through my mods one at a time. The problem mod was *drum roll* Immersive College of Winterhold! The thing is, when I updated to the new version (which has all patches built into a NMM Installer) I did not remove the individual patches first. Strange, I know, that this would be the cause of the menu not loading, but low and behold! Happy New Year Everyone! And merry gaming :D
  7. Alright, so finally got around to ordering the components and installed them. First the PSU with no problems. Then the GPU, was a little snug but I got it in nice and clean, but now I can't get it to display :pinch: I uninstalled all display drivers before taking out my new card and putting the new one in and immediatly shut down and installed the new card. I know the card is in right and all, I've tried different PCI-E cords but sadly I don't have another PCI slot or another rig to test it on. I can boot my computer and get display from my MB's onboard display or if I plug in my old card agin but if I put the new card back it it will show "No Display Output" on my monitor, not even a boot logo! Any thoughts? Sidenote: My last GPU output VGA/HDMI but the new one I'm using HDMI cause I don't currently have a DVI or mini display cables; the HDMI cable works on the older one so it's not the cable either, if that helps.
  8. I encountered something similar to this recently, I couldn't do normal attacks but I was able to use power attacks (w/ both M1 and M2 held down) though there was a dely. So, can you still do power attacks or does it not work whatsoever?
  9. Wow thanks a lot for that! Like I said, it only gets minimal performance in games like Skyrim and Fallout. :geek: I was having a really hard time trying to decide all this by myself. I'm glad I asked for advice and I am overwhelmed with the amount of help I got from everyone! I think I'll go with the Corsair HX650 just for invenstment purposes. Edit: On Second thought, what's the main difference between the Gigabyte Radeon HD 7970 and the Asus GTX770? I don't think I'll be overclocking it, and the better tesselation and PhysX sounds more apealing. Thanks for those links!
  10. Thanks for the reply, yeah I figured I'd need more  The case and the motherboard shouldn't be a problem. Hahaha well like I said, I'm quite happy with it, but I figured my 5450 was behind the times! Oh good, I was thinking about a 600 just to be safe, but great to know it's not gonna be necessary! ATI is just what I've always had, so I'm comfortable and know it a little. I'll check them out though. Thanks  Where'd you find that performance chart?
  11. This is what I had to do: Start Skyrim (Doesn't matter if mods or vanilla) At the start screen go to load Delete all saves that show up (autosaves included of course) Quit to desktop Then go to "Documents\My Games\Skyrim\Saves" (as DeltaWulf stated) Delete all files or just the whole folder would be better If you are using a save profile manager (Skyrim Configurator or Skyrim Character Manager) Delete all files those programs make in the "Documents\My Games\Skyrim" To get a true clean install, delete "Documents\My Games\Skyrim" folder completely and ensure the folder "Steam\SteamApps\common\skyrim" is empty or deleted Reinstall via Steam
  12. I know, over a month overdue :pinch: but hopefully we can get it figured out if someone else runs into this problem. I had UFO, Lovely Jessica, Lara Croft and Companion Selene Kate. I also beleive I had Sexier Housecurls. That's it for follower mods. My load order was managed by BOSS and I had no quest mods installed WHATSOEVER. I don't recall what my load order was as I uninstalled and did a clean install. No problems anymore, even with above mods and more. I hope someone can figure it out for you, and if it happens to me again! :turned: Answer Gaius24, and see if we can get to the bottom of this.
  13. I'm looking to imporve performance and visuals on my computer. So far, I'm very happy with it and it works really well, but on newer high end games, I experience very low FPS (20 Max - no mods, medium default settings). So I did a little digging and I definitely think it's my video card (ATI Radeon HD 5450). From what research I've done, the only thing I can see holding me back is my power supply (430 Watt - Dell OEM). What other components do I need to consider? I'm looking at an ATI Radeon HD 7970Budget: $600My Specs System: Dell XPS 8300 - Windows 7x64Processor: Intel Core i5-2400 CPU @ 3.10GHz (4 CPUs)Memory: 8 GB RamDisplay: ATI Radeon HD 5450Resolution: 1920 x 1080If you need any other information, I'll try to provide it. On a side note: I'm considering saving up more and just buying a whole new system and selling this one, thoughts?
  14. So, I ask a follower to follow, and of course they do. Say, the follower is in an inn; well, they'll follow me around the inn and I can interacte and everything, but as soon as I leave the inn they don't follow. Same goes for followers wondering around town and across the world map, etc. :( I've tried the wait trick and saving/reloading, but that doesn't work. Normally I'm not a big follower guy, but I have installed UFO and a few followers from nexus. I've also done quite a bit since I've installed said mods. I know, dumb move on my part. Didn't test everything before installing more mods. :wallbash: I honestly don't play that much and in the time between when I play a lot of good mods come out not to mention updates. I suppose I was too hasty  So, I just wanna know if anyone else has encountered it and knows what causes it (or any other little tricks or tips I should try) before I go ripping back through my history records troubleshooting. I appreciate any help and will provide information upon request.
  15. Same here, it didn't help that the forum links are hidden in the dark corners of the nexus sites!
