The main sites/forums I visit on a regular daily basis I opt in for a small premium fee, usually in the range of a few dollars a month, to both support the site and have an ad free experience. It's simple math. Websites need to be able to run and that costs money. Want everything for free? Advertising. The concept existed way before the internet.
I'm astounded that Nexus is top 750 in the world though, that's crazy. Kudos to you folks here for the services you provide!

Actually surprised on how nice it is. Sure it isn't a major new engine but what they've done was more than I had thought it would. Textures are better but not fantastic, armor definitely is improved in that regard. The TAA addition is beautiful and runs very smooth. Better particle effects, god rays and just overall better lighting makes for a much improved vanilla experience.

I just returned to Nexus for SSE and went Premium as I always do when I get back into Skyrim and modding. This is a worry though that anyone is being allowed to just duplicate their mods without any testing or indication whether it works or not. Obviously the good modders with beta access have tested and noted it in the description (ie. Arthmoor etc.) but I'm surprised on what is available already which obviously won't work with the new version.
Personally I'm using the Report button on the mods to bring attention to them.

Glad I've been able to support this place in the past with a couple of Premium stints and some donations to mod authors. Keep up the fantastic work.

I've gotten back into Skyrim modding and since my last jaunt I've also moved from single to triple displays running at 5040x1050. Currently I'm on an AMD 7870 2Gb which on heavy textures mods and an ENB already brings that to 30fps on a single monitor and maxed VRAM usage.
Anyone have experience with eyefinity/surround on an AMD 290 4Gb or an equivalent GTX 770 4Gb? I'd really like to keep my next purchase below $400 US which means I'm limited to either of those models. The 256bit interface on the 770 vs 512 on the 290 I believe would be a significant factor and price/perf the AMD is really going to win out at high resolutions.
I don't want a green vs red war so keep biased opinions to a minimum please, just trying to source opinions on their triple-monitor setup in Skyrim modded.

WATER won't add godrays or sunflares, that's usually from a lighting mod or an ENB.
-
To be honest I've found that just trying a lot of them myself and making my own decision on what I like is the best way to go. The problem with asking what the best looking mods are is that it's very subjective. ENB's are a perfect example. There are lots of ENB's out there with different styles, color palettes, lighting changes, dof methods etc and many of them are very popular. That's because each person is looking for something that suits what they think their Skyrim should look like.

To the OP, you haven't provided any of your system specs nor any details on graphics enhancement mods you might be running. There's so much more to system performance than just how much RAM you have.

I noted in my original post that I'll be doing Hardcore mode on Frostfall, which disables Fast Travel, so yes I'm hoping to really immerse myself into it this time. I originally had a mod in my list called Scenic Carriages however from what I was reading it doesn't work very well after the latest patches however it looks like the author may have an update soon so we'll see.

http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/33201
Skinning, Harvesting Wildlife, compatible with Frostfall & RnD as well as just about every other mod
http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/32448
Compatible as well with Frostfall & RND.
How is that hunting mod compared to Hunting in Skyrim? They both introduce skinning/pelt mechanisms so I'm assuming they will conflict. I do like the features more suited to Frostfall and RND though so I might go with that one instead, thanks!

If A textures were installed, then B textures, and you're using NMM then your option c would be true.

This would make your experience even more hardcore http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/34698/
Wow, that sounds very interesting, I love the concept. Thanks!
Something that may help improve the hardcore survival feel is improved combat and blood.

And since it is focused around Frostfall, you'll want to make those snowy hikes feel as cold as they are to your character, so better snow would help.

And the final thing I can think of to add to improve the feel of the environment is this thunder mod, which greatly improves the sound of thunder. You'd be surprised how well it adds to the immersion during storms.
The Duel Combat Realism looks excellent, thank you. A lot of work gone into it and amazing amount of detail on the numbers provided by the author.
I was going to use Enhanced Mighty Dragons, is Deadly Dragons more recommended?
I had forgot about a blood mod, I was using some Crimson mod before but I don't like the look of the effects on some opponents, especially dragons. I'll check out that blood mod thanks.
Doesn't Frostfall and Wet & Cold add snow effect like Get Snowy? I like the other 2 snow mods though, thanks!
Regarding that thunder mod, it doesn't look to be compatible with CoT, only RCRN and I'm not going to switch. However now that you reminded me, I will add this Lighting during Thunder Patch for CoT.

So I've been fairly heavily modding now for several months and as such have become more familiar with a lot of the major ones and what kind of small/large mods are available to really tweak the Skyrim experience to your liking. I've heard about Frostfall a lot and have only just now researched it more, so I'm wanting to try out a hardcore mode survival experience as the whole concept is fantastic.
I'm planning on wiping Skyrim clean with a fresh install then start from scratch with mods specifically to go with my intended experience, along with wiping all my saves (maybe back them up somewhere). Here is what I'm planning so far and I'm looking for suggestions on better alternatives and other mods to further an engrossing realistic lore-friendly Skyrim.

ENB
I'm going to look at some ENB's again. I was using CoT Cinematic for awhile as I really liked the lighting and coloring of it, very realistic. Had some issues with blue lighting in sun and fire as well as some other minor issues but overall one of the best I could find, their DoF was good in both first and third as well (I switch between often). I've recently moved to RealVision ENB as it's also fairly realistic and their Bokeh DoF mechanism is great.... all apart from horseback which is really bad. Amazing visuals with ENB 157 but the horseback issue is almost a deal breaker.
Since I'm going for a fairly hardcore experience, gritty and cold, I'm going to look at SkyRealism ENB Evolved as that had some different options bleak, unbleak, gothic etc? I some folks have suggestions for this I'll gladly take a look, there are so many ENBs out there. And no, K ENB is not something I like.
I'm also looking at some possible combat mods. This is something I've never really tried out so I'm fairly clueless in this department. If anyone has some suggestions for some combat overhauls that would be compatible with what I'm planning, I'll take a look at them.
Lastly, I've look at SkyRe which seems really nice as a big gameplay overhaul however I'm unsure about compatibility with the mods above and need to be a bit more research into it. -
I think I will definitely try that out GrandBulwark, thanks. I've been getting a lot more freezes lately, wasn't sure whether it's due to more mods being added or the last few patches from Beth. I can literally hit 2Gb loading a savegame in Whiterun.
-
Problem solved by adding The Eyes of Beauty mod, which in turn gave me much better eyes.
-
I'm so used to having NMM take care of versioning I didn't realize there was a separate precachekiller 1.2/1.3. I've removed my 1.1 and tried 1.3 however still causes the issue with eyes :( Thanks for pointing out my issue with precache killer version though.
-
So sometime over the last week or 2 during modding, updating etc. somehow now if I go into showracemenu my eyes disappear and show as milky offwhite. Also there are no eyes available on the sliders for me to choose one again. If I save the character and name it, create a new save with that eyeless character, quit and and go back in, the eyes are still missing. Reverting to previous save resolves my problem.
So basically now I can't use showracemenu anymore as it destroys the eyes of any character. I believe it happened around the time precachekiller came out and I started using that but removing that or removing racemenu/racemenuplugin doesn't help at all. BOSS doesn't show any problems.
Anyone have any idea what I've done wrong?

ugh nevermind, need to read properly. It's a dragonborn requirement, no Dawnguard. Feel free to delete post.
