Games i always return or play on a regular basis with no thought of ever stopping are- FALLOUT 4- 1,449 hours so far of game play. DYING LIGHT- Its like jumping into a 1970's-80's zombie movie in every way. INFLICTION- Silent Hills PT styled haunted house game which scares the crud out of me every time i play it just like the Unreal PT Demo for pc by Radius Gordello. MORROWIND- been playing it since its 2002 release. Ages like fine wine of a Ken Rolston vintage. OBLIVION- What i always thought the rpg and fps genre would become a lifelike melding of the two into one cohesive whole. SKYRIM- It's like every fantasy story from the 1970's and earlier busting out of a Frank Frazetta / Simon Bisley painting. CARMAGEDDON MAX PACK- There is just something about the original that all the later sequels always seem to miss. COMPANY OF HEROES 1+2- Its like miniture tabletop wargaming come to life. GRIM DAWN- gory visceral and full of detail. Plenty of other games i can list but they are all more recent though quite a few are for life like BATTLETECH by HBS.

Slof's Hive, is her website gone???
hellbishop replied to vilontano's topic in Oblivion's Discussion
Glad all is well with AlienSlof. I havent been around in awhile and was checking out some old unread pms from january and one of them was saying i was at fault which is crazy since i didnt even know AlienSlof had left. I totally respect AlienSlof and she is one of my all time favorite Modders who has brought me great joy. If not for her i would not have enjoyed MORROWIND and OBLIVION as much. Thanks to her great GOTH SHOP mod series with its unique cowboy attire i was able to have a lot of fun playing a Caleb type character from Monolith's 1990s 3dgore shooter BLOOD with everything blending in perfectly with the Elder Scrolls universe. So just for that reason alone among many others she will always have my utmost respect. Hail AlienSlof! THE ULTIMATE IN GOREY SENSUAL DAEDRIC CREATIVE GENIUS!!! -
Thanks, the game looks pretty fine. Kudo for you. A word of caution before you buy it. Go to the games website and check the forum and read the complaints about all the bugs, they're true. Bought it last Saturday and by Monday I was back in the shop getting a refund, the guy behind the counter said they'd never had so many complaints about a game as they had for Divinity II, he'd tried it himself and uninstalled it after an hour, I got my refund no problem. I've been playing with the 1.03 patch since i brought it around febuary of this year so maybe thats why i havent seen any problems. Even the so called unbalanced easy then suddenly too tough enemies were just a matter of approaching them in a certain way while being very cautious which is the way most combat is. I've also been playing rpgs since the late 1980s such as DEATH KNIGHTS OF KRYNN, DUNGEON MASTER, DAGGERFALL so maybe to me this current stuff is still tough yet easier. I also never visited the Larian Forums so that may have also kept my mind "clean" by not reading and then looking for the problems which alot of times ruins the fun to some degree.

You might want to check out DIVINITY 2 EGO DRACONIS. Its a stunning buetiful game with a vast world to explore which plays alot like the Elder Scrolls. There is also a sequel in the works. Here is a link to some gameplay footage:

ESV on cover of next Game Informer?
hellbishop replied to Retribution's topic in Oblivion's Discussion
That would be unexpected great news to hear and probably one heckuva GAME INFORMER cover  -
First time i played OBLIVION i thought everything about it was fantastic and reminded me a bit of DAGGERFALL especially the outside of Ayelid Ruins which brought back memories of the graveyards in DAGGERFALL. The creatures are also very terrifying from the roaring grizzly bears to the inhuman land dreugh and the ghastly flesh decaying zombies. Oh and the wraiths..the wraiths.. The only thing i wasnt thrilled on was the loot. It was pretty demoralising to clean out a dungeon full of dangerous enemies only to walk out with some sandals and carrots  Fortunately Bethesda fixed that big time with the patches and now i can play OBLIVION without mods with no problems if i so choose to. The DLCs and SHIVERING ISLES Expansion also added a ton more goodies to enjoy while not drowning the player in loot like TWO WORLDS and other rpgs do at times.

So does anyone have their boring times with Oblivion?
hellbishop replied to Elsarian's topic in Oblivion's Discussion
Yes modding the game to your own personal playstyle is alot of fun and adds an even more personal touch to a game world that can be played and explored in so many ways. Me i just go back to unmodded OBLIVION and play it in a completely different way from my previous character which opens up new areas of enjoyment. Its pretty amazing how detailed all the different systems in the Elder Scrolls are. Just learning everything about alchemy can take a long time. Seeing the different types of improvements in ones character when they go from apprentice to journey man etc is also pretty cool. Even the level scaling of enemies isnt as bad as people make it out to be. Running into a bandit with chainmail was pretty cool i just wish he had been called something else besides a bandit. Perhaps Traitor Soldier who decided to take advantage of the Daedra invasion by robbing and looting may have been better. It would also explain better how all those expensive pieces of armor and weapons were laying about for bandits to get a hold of. Sometimes though just playing another game or doing something else like watching a movie going for a relaxing walk in the woods can stimulate ones interests again. -
Yay verily lately the fewer mods i use the better. Anything but texture, sound and body mod replacers my game will start to get a little wonky with npcs not following regular paths and landscapes disappearing etc.

Supreme Magicka not being so supreme now...
hellbishop replied to AltreU's topic in Oblivion's Discussion
Yes OBSE can make things a bit wonky. I usually stay away from external programs because they always get flaky on me eventually. The only one i use is OBMM for my load order when using other mods besides official content. Thats a good play style. I usually go with the melee style with some conjuration sometimes. Lately i've started using the marksman skill after discovering how lethal it is after comparing the modded and unmodded damage effects. The unmodded marksman was much more to my liking taking down enemies really quickly compared to most overhauls where marksman seems almost useless. As for essential mods when using them i would say: G_'s Loot Mod by gq13kid which gets rid of the vanilla scaling where bandits etc are wearing powerful and expensive armor. It also tweaks the ingame loot so theres a chance of finding anything in the game at any level. Its very balanced and makes finding loot very interesting eventhough Bethesda has done a great job with the patches to make the original loot much more rewarding compared to when the game first came out in 2006. Here is the link to it: http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=OblivionMods.Detail&id=501 Eventhough i dont use it all the time since its hit and miss once in awhile when it comes to crashing or making the landscape disappear the Unofficial Oblivion Patch by Quarn & Kivan fixes a ton of bugs left behind by Bethesda due to time constraints etc  It also makes the game run much more smoother. Just make sure to get the latest version. They also have created similar patches for the official content and Shivering Isles Expansion. These guys are truly dedicated but then again most Modders are. Lucky us :woot: http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=OblivionMods.Detail&id=1417 Everything else is pretty much a matter of taste and may come with a bit of glitchy oddness. Texture mods and body mods i have found to be very safe and its all a matter of what your pc can handle. I usually Wiseman's texture landscape mods with its incredible fake bump mapping technique. You may get disappearing landscape though if using it with the Unofficial Patch. http://www.tesnexus.com/modules/members/index.php?id=97306 -
Do you think that Elder Scrolls V would use Gamebryo?
hellbishop replied to Lolasho's topic in Oblivion's Discussion
Maybe it'll use a tweaked version of Embryo merged with the DOOM 3 or 4 engine considering Bethesda and iD are under the same roof now. -
Supreme Magicka not being so supreme now...
hellbishop replied to AltreU's topic in Oblivion's Discussion
Heh heh yes i too feel alot of times i spend more time reinstalling the game then playing. Yes what your mentioning seems to happen alot with mods like overhauls that add alot of changes pushing the engine to do things it wasnt originally designed for. Things like ai overload where npcs stop reacting or do odd things or weapon damage that isnt properly calculated so it ends up registering after two or more hits later. Weapons or spells that dont hit their target eventhough they're right in front of you due to a invisible mesh getting in the way somehow etc. At the moment after two installs in a row i just said forget this for awhile and am playing OBLIVION with no mods even smaller individual ones which usually dont give me any trouble. I've noticed suddenly Bethesda's design wasnt bad after all and alot more realisitc then i thought it was. It feels good to take down an enemy with only one or three arrow hits and its also a comfortable feeling knowing the damage done is correct and didnt somehow stop working due to some glitchy mod behaviour which after all these years should have been fixed by now. So your not the only one in your suffering and love for mods. You can always go back to regular OBLIVION and check out the great official mods like the SPELL TOMES and WIZARDS TOWER which adds alot of great new magic spells and vendors etc. Other then that all i can say is reinstall SUPREME MAGIKA whenever it gets glitchy which usually resets things and fixes the problem. Hope my words have hoped to lower the frustration level a bit  -
Yes its quite possible to survive as a Marksman considering bows can do quite a bit of damage on their own or with poisons. I discovered this recently when playing a modless game of OBLIVION to see the difference between a pure game and one using an overhaul. I actually found OBLIVION more realistic without mods as i saw enemies dropping like flies with only one to three arrow hits. So if you design your character properly you will definitely be as shadows wind with a life stealing touch.

Why do many Oblivion fans tend not to like Dragon Age?
hellbishop replied to SpellAndShield's topic in Oblivion's Discussion
I dont dislike DRAGON AGE ORIGINS but for some reason it just does not keep my attention for any long amount of time. The linear landscape which gives the illusion of freedom til you hit an invisible boundary. The combat which breaks immersion when you suddenly have to pause everything to give orders which they dont always follow so i end up having to click on each individual character which makes the immersion breaking pausing stand out even more. Some of the dialogue seems a bit too "grand" in exaggeration like something a kid would say not some experianced battle hardened lord. This is from someone who loves 1970s b-movies by the way  In a Bethesda rpg i instantly become the character am playing unlike DA where i have to learn the system in a focused purposeful manner. In OBLIVION etc all is learned just by doing things naturally without ever feeling like one is learning anything. With DA its like am back in school trying to force learn division for the first time which distracts from the enjoyment of the world. DA is also a bit too talky for me. With OBLIVION theres still tons of dialogue but i can engage in it anytime i want not when the game wants to advance the story. I also dont feel like a messenger boy running all over the city looking for one person for fifteen real time minutes just so i can get to the next combat situation. In OBLIVION i can find a fight pretty much any time any where and with consequences. The camera was also annoying. I dont know why they didnt have it set up like in WARHAMMER DAWN OF WAR 2 which felt very natural and never got in the way. I guess reading all these comments and seeing my own lack of ability to stay interested in DA i've learned that am pretty much more attracted to the likes of DIVINITY II EGO DRACONIS aswell as the Elder Scrolls with its fluid third person and first person play style. -
!!!aarhhh no new elder scrolls game at e3!!!
hellbishop replied to captainhalfajob's topic in Oblivion's Discussion
Yes same here. Definitely play the original first. One may find enough to satisfy them completely without mods. At the moment am playing MORROWIND, OBLIVION and FALLOUT 3 without mods because interesting enough it feels more realistic. I was shooting some enemies with a bow and arrow the other day in a modless game of OBLIVION and i was shocked to see that they went down with one to three arrow hits which was alot more immersive and realistic then the ten or more arrows it takes in alot of major overhaul mods which push the realism angles. So dont deny yourself the chance to enjoy the game as is. Bethesda designed it that way for a reason. -
Am pretty much the same way. I have more golden oldies from 1987 and onward then i do of the modern stuff because they have such infinite replay value. I use to have tons of Super Nintendo games like ZOMBIES ATE MY NEIGHBORS and VIKINGS but eventually had to get rid of them due to space constraints when moving to a new place. Still have most of my pc games though. Here is a list of some of em from way back in the day. Sheesh cant believe over twenty years have passed already since getting my first Commodore Amiga 500 and eventually a Intel pc. Civilization II Machiavelli Empire Master Of Orion 2 Cyberstorm Panzer General X-Com 1+2 Frontlines (not the current series but a sci fi wargame of the same title from the early 1990s) Steel Panthers 1+2 Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri Age Of Empires (entire series) Age Of Mythology (entire series) Rise Of Nations (entire series) Rise Of Legends Age Of Wonders 2 Heroes Of Might And Magic (entire series) Disciples 2 and expansions Warhammer 40k Final Liberation Warhammer 40k Rites Of War Warhammer 40k Dawn Of War 1+2 series Carmageddon 1+2 Forsaken Pod Motoracer 1+2 Doom 1+2 and Final Doom Herectic Hexen Blood Mechwarrior 2-3-4 and expansions Heavy Gear 2 (best mecha simulator i ever played) Phantasmagoria Quake, Quake III Arena, Quake 4 and also played 2 on a friends machine which was great but too different for me Duke Nukem 3D Soldier Of Fortune System Shock Might And Magic (entire series) Planescape Torment Gothic 1-2-3 Nox Diablo 1+2 Postal 1+2 The Elder Scrolls Arena The Elder Scrolls Daggerfall The Elder Scrolls Morrowind and expansions The Elder Scrolls Oblivion and DLC and expansion Fallout 3/Retail DLC Packs and Fallout 3 Game Of The Year Edition And many more games probably in the amount of 300 or so.

When starting out i usually make money just by following the advice of the npcs i meet in town. One of the first places i go to is the cave near the silt strider at Seyda Neen. Great loot there and i even get to do a good deed in the process.I usually sell the armor, weapons and clothing back in town while leaving things like illegal drugs behind or even dumping them in the cave water so they are beyond use. Books along with things like candles and lanterns i keep to decorate a shack that becomes abandoned after a certain quest in Seyda Neen. Am a rabid dungeon explorer and love collecting treasure aswell as discovering all the different types of creatures that dwell within. I never kill innocent civilians for loot unless am playing an evil character and even then i usually dont since its more fun going up against someone who is fully capable of defending themselves.

How bad@$$ is your character?
hellbishop replied to SerasTheDiclonius's topic in Oblivion's Discussion
Intensely magical are you! Why you can craft the game world to your desires without using a mod! Intense  A little more on my character. My Dibella Knight prefers up close combat instead of long range weapons like bows since he considers them a bit on the sneaky cowardly side. He is also on what he considers a fruitless quest to discover a morally good version of conjuration magic which calls upon the forces of the Nine Divines and not the dark magic that is known which asks the aid of Daedra. Surely what crusader of justice beauty and life would summon up a rotting stinking corpse to aid him in battle?
